Chapter Eleven
Randi didn't need to be asked if she would go back to the hotel with the guys. She just went. As soon as they got there, Nick and Brian went to play some Nintendo 64 until it was time for Brian to call Stephanie. AJ stayed downstairs to flirt with a pretty waitress in the café that he'd noticed earlier. And Howie disappeared to call his sister Pollyanna, who was on her first tour in Mexico. So Randi was left standing with Kevin in the hall.
"So….what do we do now?" she asked.
"Watch TV? I know I definitely need a shower though" Kevin admitted.
"Now that you mention it, you do kinda smell" Randi laughed. "New perfume, Kev?" she teased.
"Absolutely. It's called au sweat. Come here and take a deep breath of it" he said as he pulled Randi closer. Randi leaned against Kevin and laid her head on his shoulder.
"I think I'd call it l'homme, not au sweat" she said.
"What's that mean?" Kevin asked as he unlocked his room and pushed open the door.
"L'homme? It means 'man' in French" she told him, following him into the room.
"Oh. I'm gonna go get my shower. Do whatever" Kevin told her.
"I'm experiencing déjà vu here" she kidded.
"Yeah, I did say that already today, didn't I?" Kevin gave Randi a heart-melting smile before he walked into the bathroom.
"Hey, Kev" she shouted.
"Yeah?"
"You gotta CD player around here?"
Kevin opened the bathroom door and poked his head out. He pointed out a book bag and told her the CDs were in there also.
"Thanks" she smiled. Kevin closed the door again and Randi set about choosing a CD. When she spotted the Backstreet Boys Millennium album, she grinned and put it on the player. She laid down on the bed and closed her eyes as the CD began to play. Soon she was wiggling her feet along to the beat. Her moving feet was the first thing Kevin noticed when he came out of the bathroom. Moving quietly, he sneaked around the bed and tweaked her big toe of her left foot. He laughed when her eyes flew open and she sat up wide-eyed.
When Randi saw that it was only Kevin she took a deep breath of relief and put her hand to her heart. "Not funny" she protested. Kevin was laying on his back on the bed laughing his little heart out.
"Sure it was" he gasped. "You shoulda seen the look on your face!"
"Priceless I'm sure" she said wryly. "Now if you don't mind, I'm gonna get another shower."
"Go for it" Kevin told her. "Need something to change into?"
"If you have anything to spare" Randi said.
Kevin got up and went to get Randi a shirt and a pair of boxers. He handed them to her.
"Thanks" she said, shutting the door behind her. Kevin stared at the door for awhile, until he heard the shower start. Then he laid back on the bed to think and wait for Randi to come back out.
