Everyone was now back in sunny Florida. Laura and Jennifer had flown out the day before and were staying at Katlyn’s families house. Today was the day that they were all going to their dorm room.
Katlyn had boxes of her things in her new car, Jackie had her mom’s truck filled with her stuff, and Laura and Jennifer borrowed Katlyn’s mom’s van. Justin went with Katlyn so he could help. They pulled up at the college and checked in. The guy handed them each a key to their room. The group started carrying the boxes up to the room.
Justin was about to grab one of Katlyn’s boxes when he saw Jennifer struggling with one of hers. He walked up to her. “Do you need some help with that?”
Jennifer smiled up at him. “That would be great. Thanks.”
Justin took the box from her and walked up to the dorm room with Jennifer close behind. He set the box down with the others.
“Thanks Justin. That was really sweet of you.” Jennifer said putting her hand on his shoulder.
Justin smiled uncomfortably. “No problem.”
When all the boxes were up in the room they looked around at the mess. Justin wrapped his arms around Katlyn’s waist from behind and kissed her cheek. “I’ll help you unpack.”
(2 day later, Justin’s house.)
Katlyn and Jackie, along with the rest of the guys, sat in Justin’s backyard by the pool. Justin, Chris, and Joey were splashing around in the pool, while Lance and JC talked, and Katlyn and Jackie tanned.
“You’re a lucky man, Justin.” Joey commented.
Justin stopped his splashing. “Why?”
Joey nodded over at Katlyn, who was sitting in her bikini.
Justin splashed him. “You better stop looking!”
Joey splashed him back. “Stop being so protective. She’s a good looking girl...you should feel privileged to be dating her, other guys may look but you know she’s yours.”
“How many guys are looking at her?” Justin asked worried.
“Oh come on! You’ve been out with her...every guy we passed checked her out.” Chris jumped in.
“Are you serious?” Justin said angrily.
“Don’t freak out! She loves you too much...she’s not going to leave you.” Joey reassured.
“Except for maybe me.” Chris laughed.
Justin splashed him. “Yeah, like that’s going to happen.”
“Timberlake, are you saying I don’t have a chance with her?”
Justin splashed him again. “I’m saying you have no chance in hell with her.”
“You’re going down.” Chris leaped out of the water at him and dunked him under the water. Justin grabbed Chris’ leg and pulled him under.
Katlyn sighed watching the two with a smile on her face.
“You would never guess how old they were by the way they act.” Jackie commented.
“Yeah, but that’s why we love them.”
“Correction...that’s why you love him.”
Katlyn smiled. “Yeah...that too.”
Jackie laughed. “You are so in love.”
Katlyn looked over at her. “Is something wrong with that?”
“No. I just hate you for it. I want something like what the two of you have. You have no idea how lucky you are.”
“Your guy will come soon enough.”
Jackie sighed. “Not soon enough.”
Katlyn laughed. “Don’t be in such a hurry. Being in love is a pain.” She looked over at Justin splashing around, still wrestling with Chris.
“A pain? Yeah...it looks like it hurts a lot.” Jackie said sarcastically.
“I’m serious! It is a pain. Especially when you’re dating Justin Timberlake. Not only do you have to deal with the regular feelings that come with love, but then you have girls who hate you and think that they are better for him then you are.”
“That’s something I’ll never get to experience.”
“You’re not missing anything, trust me. It’s not very pretty.”
“I’m sure...waking up to that face every morning must be hard on you.” Jackie smiled.
“You’ll get your prince charming soon enough...you just have to wait for him to find you.”
“That could take forever...maybe I should find him.” Jackie laughed.
Katlyn laughed with her. “Yeah...you could do that too.”
Chris jumped out of the water and stood in front of Katlyn. Seconds later Justin did the same. Katlyn looked up at them. “Yes?”
“Who’s cuter? Me or Justin?” Chris said posing in front of her.
Katlyn tried to hold in her laughter. “Why?”
“Just pick!” Chris said annoyed.
Katlyn looked back and fourth at them. “Well, actually I think JC is much cuter then both of you.” She looked up at them and smiled.
Justin looked down at her shocked. “What?!”
Katlyn smiled at him. “What’s wrong, Juju?”
Justin looked over at JC then back at Katlyn. “You think he is cuter then me? How could you say that? After everything we’ve been through? That hurt, Kate.”
Katlyn smiled at him. “Don’t worry, sweetie, you’re right under Lance on the list.”
Justin’s mouth dropped open. “This is getting better and better, isn’t it?”
“Where am I on the list?” Chris asked.
“Right before Lance.” Katlyn smiled.
Chris jumped around. “I beat him! I’m higher on the list!”
Justin slowly walked over to her. Katlyn looked up at him worriedly. “Justin, don’t come any closer. Please! I’m trying to get a tan, don’t-“ Before she could finish, Justin picked her up and ran back over to the pool. “Justin, baby, please don’t drop me...I didn’t want to get in yet. Please? I love you, Justin...Don’t drop me.” She gripped on to his shoulder. “Justin? Please?”
Justin shook his head. “I don’t think so.” He threw her in the pool and waited for her to surface.
Katlyn moved the hair off of her face. “You little ass! I can’t believe you just did that to me!” She swam over to the edge of the pool and got out. Justin backed away from her. Katlyn walked towards him. Justin ran around the pool. Katlyn finally caught up to him and pushed as hard as she could, but he grabbed her arm and they both fell in the pool.
Justin looked at Katlyn when they both surfaced and laughed; her hair was everywhere.
“What are you laughing at?”
Justin held his hands up defensively, but started laughing again. Katlyn swam over to him and dunked him. Justin pulled her under with him and wrapped his arms around her waist. Justin started walking out deeper, so Katlyn wrapped her legs around his waist.
“To bad those five are here...otherwise, we could be having some fun of our own.” Justin whispered.
“In your dreams, Timberlake.”
“Hey, it happened once!” Justin defended.
Katlyn smiled and kissed him.
“You two are just plain gross! Why don’t you just go get a room?” JC said to them.
Katlyn looked up and blushed.
“Not such a bad idea.” Justin joked.
Katlyn playfully hit him.
Hours later everyone sat around talking. Katlyn laid on one of the lawn chairs, looking up at the stars. She snuggled more into the blanket that her and Justin were sharing and leaned her head down to rest on his shoulder. Justin’s arm tightened around her.
“Tomorrow we have rehearsals for the VMA’s.” JC informed.
“We’re doing ‘Pop’, right?” Chris asked.
“Yeah.” Justin looked down at Katlyn. “You’re coming, right?”
Katlyn looked up at him. “I don’t know, am I?”
Justin shook his head. “I want you to be there with me, but if you don’t want to...”
“I’ll go...I don’t know what to wear though.”
“We’ll get you something. You’ll be ok with all of the cameras flashing, people will probably ask you questions?”
Katlyn shook her head. “Nothing new.”
Justin smiled. “Thank you.”
Katlyn leaned up and kissed him, then laid her head on his chest.
