Katlyn was sleeping peacefully, but as soon as the bed started moving, she awoke. Right when she was about to open her eyes, they were covered with a cloth and then tied around her head.
“Wake up.” A voice she could not recognize said.
“What is going on?” Katlyn said, growing panicked.
“No questions, just do everything we say.” The voice answered.
Someone grabbed the blankets over her and pulled them off. They then pulled on her hands getting her to stand up.
“You have to change now.” The voice ordered.
“How?” Katlyn asked frightened. It was too early in the morning for her to make sense of anything.
“I’ll help you if you need it.” She was handed a pair of jeans and a shirt.
She felt a little self-conscious changing in front of whoever was there, but she did as told. Once she was done, she was given some sandals.
“Now lets go.” Two hands grabbed her arms.
“Where are we going?”
“No questions.”
She walked down the stairs with them and they walked out the front door. She was helped into a car and they started moving. She heard a little laugh from someone else in the car that sounded somewhat familiar, but ignored it.
The car stopped and she heard a few doors open. Her door was opened and someone helped her out. She was then walked into a building.
She felt the cloth over her eyes being untied and then taken off.
Her eyes scanned around and her mouth almost dropped open. She quickly turned around to see who had brought her here. There stood Justin and the rest of the guys along with Laura and Jackie.
Seeing Laura and Justin standing next to each other made her heart break. She quickly turned and exited the building as fast as she could.
Justin rolled his eyes. “She’s going to hate me, but I’ll go talk to her.” He started running after her. “Kate, you can’t just leave your own birthday party.”
Katlyn turned and glared at him. “Tell me right now, what is going on?”
“It’s your birthday party.”
“Not that…you and Laura.”
Justin looked away for a brief second and then back. “I’m sorry.”
Katlyn closed her eyes tightly. “For what?”
“For sneaking around and…planning this party and the rest of your day.” Justin’s mouth twitched into a smile.
Katlyn’s eyes flew open. “What?!”
“I lied to you. When I went out yesterday, I went to Laura and Jackie’s to put the finishing touches on your day. I’m sorry.”
Katlyn just starred at him. “But, JC said…”
“He said I was sneaking around and not to tell you, which is true because it was supposed to be a surprise for you.” A smile spread across his face.
“But…I’m so confused.”
Justin laughed. “I know you think I cheated on you, but I thought that was better then you finding out about today.”
“So you were just planning my party?”
“Of course that’s it. I love you and I wanted today to be perfect.”
Katlyn let a smile creep up. “Really?”
Justin reached out and gave her a hug. “Happy birthday, Katlyn.”
Katlyn wrapped her arms around his neck and gave him a tight hug and then kissed his cheek. “I don’t know whether to hate you or love you.”
“I would prefer love.” Justin added.
Katlyn pulled away. “Well then, let’s get back in there. I’m hungry.”
Justin grabbed her hand and intertwined their fingers. “Let’s go.”
Katlyn smiled as Justin pulled her back to the party.
“You know…I’m a little worried that you didn’t even put up a fight when we kidnapped you.” Justin said to her right before they walked in.
“Maybe it was from all the giggling I heard that calmed me down.”
The first thing she noticed when she walked back in was her friends from California. She ran over to them, immediately hugging them.
“What are you doing here?!” She asked excitedly.
“Justin flew us all out.” Reina answered.
Katlyn finished hugging them all. “I love that boy.”
Everyone sat down to eat breakfast. After that, Katlyn opened her presents from her friends and family.
Justin then kneeled down next to Katlyn. “Now, my lady, for the next part of your day.” Justin stood up and led her outside.
A limo pulled up. Justin opened the door for her.
“Are you coming?” Katlyn asked.
“Nope. Just you and your gal friends.”
Laura, Jackie, Michelle, Reina, Jamie, Kim, and Julie all got in after her.
“So…anyone know where we are going?” Katlyn asked once they were all in and the limo was moving.
“We’re not allowed to say.” Jackie said simply.
They pulled up to a day spa about twenty minutes later. They were given massages and mud baths and finished off with manicures and pedicures.
“Wow, please tell me Justin didn’t plan all that.”
“Well, that’s where we came in.” Laura said.
“He asked for suggestions, so we said this.” Jackie continued.
“You are one lucky girl.” Kim laughed.
“Seriously, look at all of this he’s doing for you.” Julie added.
Katlyn let out a laugh. “He’s trying to make himself look perfect.”
“Well it’s working.” Jamie said.
It was about six o’clock when they got back in the limo.
“What now?” Katlyn asked excitedly.
“Now we’re going to your house.” Laura said. “But first we’re going to have to put this back on.” She held up a bandana.
Katlyn pouted. “Fine.”
Laura tied the bandana back over Katlyn’s eyes and the girls led her out of the limo and into the backyard.
“Why do I have to be blindfolded to go into my house?”
“We’re not going in the house.” Jackie said.
“The backyard?” Katlyn guessed.
“We’re just following Justin’s orders.” Laura said.
They sat Katlyn down in a chair.
Katlyn heard the opening chords of “I’ll be good for you” start and then the bandana was taken off. There was a small stage that had been set up. All the guys were dressed in suits and were standing on the stage, starting the song. They also sang, “This I promise You”, “The two of us”, “Selfish”, “Gone”, and “Something like you.”
When they were done, Katlyn stood up and clapped wildly.
“Now, my dear, you and I have a date in one hour, so go get ready.” Justin said into the microphone.
Katlyn walked into the house and up to their room. She went through the huge closet and finally found a simple dark blue dress. Laura and Jackie came up to help with her hair and makeup.
She looked at the clock. “Fifteen minutes to spare.” She smoothed out her dress and then walked down the stairs.
Justin looked up at her from his conversation with the other guys. “Wow.”
“Stop drooling, Timberlake.” Katlyn joked.
Justin stood up and walked over to her. “You look beautiful.”
Katlyn felt a blush creep over her cheeks. She was still amazed that after over a year she could still get weak from his stare.
Justin offered his arm and Katlyn took it. “We’ll we’re going…hopefully you will all be gone when we get back.” Justin smiled at them and led her out to the limo that still sitting there.
“Justin, this is way too much. Katlyn said getting in the limo again.
Justin climbed in after her. “Nothing is too much for my girl.”
“This is definitely the best birthday I’ve ever had.”
Justin smiled. “Good.”
They talked the entire way there; she didn’t even notice where they were going. When the limo pulled to a stop, she went to look outside, but Justin covered her eyes. “What are you doing?”
“You can’t see yet.” He helped her get out, still covering her eyes.
He stood behind her, one hand was holding her hand, guiding her and the other one was covering her eyes gently. They walked a few feet further and then stopped.
“Ready?” Justin whispered. Katlyn nodded. Justin removed his hand.
Katlyn’s eyes opened and she looked around her. “Justin, this is so sweet.”
They were at the same little tree that overlooked the ocean. The same one the confessed their feelings for each other at, and the same one that they had their first day. She felt her eyes slowly welling with tears.
Justin wrapped his arms around her waist and rested his chin on her shoulder “Now this was all me.” Justin whispered.
Katlyn smiled and turned her head to look at him. “Really?”
“No one knows this is our spot except for you and me.”
Katlyn turned around and wrapped her arms around his neck. “I love you.”
Justin gave her a soft kiss and then sat her down on the blanket. Food was spread out and they started eating and talking.
Justin then suddenly stood up and offered his hand. Katlyn took it and stood up with him. They walked hand in hand down to the shore.
“Look, it’s our rock.” Justin pointed out.
Katlyn slipped off her sandals as they walked in the sand and then wrapped her arm around his waist. Justin wrapped his arm around her shoulders and pulled her closer. They walked over to the huge rock and sat atop of it.
Justin started humming “I’ll be good for you” in her ear again.
Katlyn leaned back in his arms and closed her eyes to hear his soft voice and the waves crashing in. She was at peace.
