“Do you ever wonder why? This music gets you high. It takes you for a ride. Feel it when your body starts to rock, and baby you can’t stop. When the music’s all you got. This must be Pop! Pop!” They finished the song and stood back up.
Justin smiled down to Katlyn, who like always was sitting third row, the tradition they started on the last tour.
“Kate? You wanna get me a water?” Justin yelled down to her.
Katlyn looked up from the book she was reading. “What do I look like? Maid service?”
“You weren’t doing anything.” Justin defended.
“I was reading!...It’s right there, you can get it yourself!” Katlyn said annoyed. She looked back down to continue reading her book.
“Don’t you love me?” Justin pouted.
Jackie, who was sitting next to Katlyn also reading, stood up and walked over to the water bottle. “Jeez! I’ll get it if it gets you to SHUT UP!” She threw the bottle at him.
Justin looked at the water bottle in his hands and sighed. “But I wanted her to get it.” He put the water bottle back down where it was. “Katlyn? Can you get it for me?”
“Justin...sweetie, don’t take this the wrong way, but YOU’RE REALLY ANNOYING!” Katlyn said looking up from her book again.
“But I just finished dancing around a really big stage. I’m tired.” Justin continued pouting.
“You did fine walking over to put it back down after Jackie gave it to you...walk over there and pick it back up.” Katlyn looked back at her book again.
“I love you.” Justin said from the stage.
“Isn’t that sweet...pick it up.”
“Justin stop screwing around and keep going. You guys only have five more minutes of sound check.” Wade, their choreographer, said from the side of the stage.
“Thank you Wade!” Katlyn called.
Justin was about to open his mouth to say something but JC stopped him. “Just sing, Justin.”
They started singing again. This time Katlyn looked up.
They were singing “Gone”, the song Justin wrote after Katlyn and him got into their first fight a couple months ago. The thought brought tears to her eyes.
Justin walked into the dark room. He noticed Katlyn sitting on the chair in the corner. He turned on the lights and walked over to her.
“Katlyn? Are you ok?” He asked worried.
Katlyn looked up with tears running down her face. “Leave me alone, you jerk.”
Justin looked down at her confused. “Kate, what are you talking about?”
“Damnit Justin! Do you want to tell me something?” Katlyn looked up at him coldly.
“I don’t know what’s going on! Tell me, Kate.” Justin was kneeling down next to her.
Katlyn held up the phone. “You got a call today.”
“I get a lot of those. Why are you so upset?”
Katlyn stood up. “Some girl, Jen, was looking for you.”
“Jen? I don’t know a Jen.” Justin stood up next to her and put his arms around her.
She pushed him away and stepped back. “You don’t, huh? She seemed to know you pretty well.” She started to walk away but Justin grabbed her arm. “Don’t touch me!”
Justin jumped back when she yelled. “Kate. I don’t know what you’re talking about! Please don’t go!”
Katlyn was grabbing her stuff as she walked to the door. She turned around and glared at Justin. “Tell me the truth. Who is she?” Tears were streaming down her face.
“I don’t know.”
“UGH!” She tuned around and walked out the door, walking towards one of Justin’s cars.
“Katlyn! Don’t leave! I don’t know who you’re talking about!” Justin ran out after her.
Katlyn opened the door to the car and turned around to face Justin again. “Why didn’t you just tell me?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Justin said tears now flowing down his cheeks.
Katlyn pushed him away, got in the car and drove away.
Katlyn looked up at Justin who was still singing the song. She wiped away the tear that ran down her face.
“I’m so sorry, Kate.” Jackie said hugging her tightly.
Katlyn had drove to Jackie’s house, not knowing where else to go.
“He lied to me.” Katlyn cried.
Jackie tried comforting her, but Katlyn kept crying.
Someone started pounding on the door. “Katlyn!” Both Jackie and Katlyn knew Justin had found her.
“Katlyn! We need to talk!” He continued pounding on the door.
Jackie got up and slowly opened the door. “She doesn’t want to talk to you right now.”
Justin started pushing open the door. “I need to talk you, Kate.”
“Justin. She doesn’t want to talk to you!” Jackie said trying to push him out.
“She’s my girlfriend! Let me in!” Justin pushed his way through the door. He ran in looking for her.
“Justin, go away!” Katlyn said running to Jackie’s bedroom. Justin was quick and caught her before she closed the door.
“Katlyn, we need to talk. I have no idea what you were talking about.”
Katlyn cried backing away from him. “Justin, please...just leave me alone.”
“No, not until you tell me what is going on.”
Katlyn calmed herself down. “While you were recording today, some girl named Jen called. She wanted me to tell you, that she had a great time the other night, and she wanted to see you again.”
“Katlyn. That’s a lie. I haven’t been with anyone.” Justin tried walking to her, but she backed away again.
“How can I believe you? You were gone the other day.”
“I was recording the other day! You know that...don’t let some crazy fan tell you otherwise.”
“Justin, you have no proof that you weren’t with this girl. You say you were recording, how do I know that?” A tear escaped her eye again.
“You have to trust me.” Justin said looking her in the eye.
Katlyn turned away. “I want to, but I can’t.”
“Ask someone! The other guys will know. We’ve been recording everyday.”
“Your best friends? The ones who would do anything to make you happy?...No, I can’t do that.”
Justin looked sadly at her. “Trust...You have to trust me.”
“Good bye, Justin.” Katlyn walked out the door said good bye to Jackie and left.
Justin went home and started writing a song.
I’ve been sittin’ here
Can’t get you off my mind
I’m tryin’ my best to be a man and be strong
I drove myself insane
Wishin’ I can touch your face
But the truth remains, your
Gone
Justin looked up as tears ran down his face.
Katlyn quickly wiped the tear away remembering what had happened. She was so glad that they were finally back together. They had only been apart for a week, but it still hurt. She still wanted to know who that girl was who called and tried to ruin her life.
“Katlyn.” Jackie said shacking her out of her thought.
Katlyn looked up. “What?”
“Sound check is over. We have to go backstage now.”
Katlyn picked up her stuff and walked outside with Jackie. Immediately the screaming started.
“Katlyn!” Girls started screaming. She walked over to the gates to talk to the fans.
“Hey, you guys.” She greeted. Fans were running from all over to see her.
“Katlyn, you are so lucky.” One girl said to her.
“Why?”
“Because you’re Justin Timberlake’s girlfriend.”
Katlyn thought about it. “I never really thought about it like that.”
“Can you tell Lance that I love him?” A girl screamed.
Katlyn laughed. “I’ll tell all the guys you send your love. I’m gonna go now, I hope you enjoy the show!”
Katlyn and Jackie walked backstage.
“Hey Mike!” Katlyn said walking up to him.
He pointed down the hall. “Fifth door on the right.”
Katlyn laughed walking down the hall. It had become a habit for her to ask where Justin’s room was.
She walked in the room, not bothering to knock. “Hey.”
Justin looked up and pouted. “You didn’t get the water bottle for me.”
Jackie sat down on the couch. “No, but I got it for you. And you being a BABY put it back because you wanted Katlyn to get it!”
“Aren’t you in a great mood.” Justin said sitting down and pulling Katlyn down on top of him.
“I don’t like listening to babies.” Jackie smiled.
“Are you going to let her talk to me like that?” Justin whined.
“You are a baby!” Katlyn laughed.
“I...love...you...too.” Justin said shocked.
Katlyn smiled and gave him a soft kiss.
“Do you want me to leave you two alone?” Jackie said standing up.
“Of course we do.” Justin said annoyed.
Katlyn playfully hit his arm. “Justin, be nice. Jackie, you can stay if you want.”
“And watch you two make out? I’ll be going now.” Jackie quickly left the room.
Katlyn laughed. Justin picked her up and took her over to the couch.
“Where were we?” Justin smiled leaning over to kiss her again.
Katlyn wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him closer to deepen the kiss.
Minutes later the door opened and JC walked in.
“Justin, we need to start-“ JC started but saw the two of them quickly pull apart. “We need to start knocking.”
Katlyn laughed. “I thought you would have learned by now.”
Justin sighed sitting back up.
“Sorry ‘bout that. Justin, we need to start getting ready for the show.”
Justin stood up and walked over to the clothes rack. “Ok.”
Katlyn got up and walked to Justin, wrapping her arms around his waist and lying her head on the back of his shoulder. “It’s almost over.” She knew he was tired.
Justin turned around and kissed her. “I know.”
Katlyn ran her hands up and down his arms a couple times then rested them on his shoulders. “Have a great show. I’ll see you in a couple hours.”
Justin hugged her tightly. “I love you, Katlyn.”
Katlyn looked up at him shocked. “Justin, uh...um, I love you too.” She wrapped her arms around him.
“Touring is so stressful.” Justin said hugging her tighter.
“I know, baby. It’s almost over.” She kissed his cheek. “We can talk later. You need to get ready for your show.”
Justin kissed her again and let go of her. Katlyn left and walked to the VIP area.
