Summary: Joxers got a secret... ********** The day was just not going the way the God of War had planned. He had been planning an antagonizing war for his Aunt Demeter. She was always coming and talking about him having raids in certain villages or a war in a certain area, because of the droughts. If the people became too many, then there wouldn't be enough food to feed them all. But today had been all together strange. Everyone was looking at him, it made him nervous. He even caught Zeus looking at him through the corner of his eye. Needless to say, Ares was completely confused. He started to think of the things that would have upset all the Gods and Goddesses who had been sneaking glimpses, such as like Hestia, Demeter, and even Apollo. It was getting overly weird. He frowned deeply, he couldn't think of anything in the last few weeks that would have upset everybody. And this was very strange, he'd been pretty quiet lately, ever sense Strife had died. He tried to think harder, but all he could come up with was a war somewhere, cause there was no possible way that anyone knew about Joxer. Ares had been seeing Jox for the last few months, they'd become lovers after a trip as a mortal with the freaky four, a punishment by Zeus for so called arrogance towards what they were trying to accomplish. All that the little trip solved was Ares' loneliness. He silently thanked his father for his Joxer. So once again Ares just sat there, desperately trying to ignore the looks he was receiving. He finally lost his last thread of patience when Hera gave him a smile. He stood up, crossing his arms over his chest, and gave his parents a look that would melt a mortal in their boots. "What is going on here?" He demanded. Zeus was no help, he gave his son a knowing smile and shook his head. "Son..." he began. But Ares already knew how he was going to play this one. "Zeus" He growled. "You people have been giving me looks for the entire meeting, and I want to know why?" Tartarus even Hades was smirking at him, and that was almost as rare a thing beside his mother's smile.Ares took a glance at Aphrodite, she was frowning, obviously she didn't know what was going on, neither did Heph. "I believe it is time we tell him dear." Hera smiled once again. Now Ares was just nervous, he'd never been one of his mother's favorite kids or his father's, which meant very little, if any, showing of love. Zeus looked at Ares, debating. He wasn't sure if that was such a good idea. The look Hera was giving Zeus gave him the right answer. "Alright son, we'll tell you. But you have to stay calm." Zeus sighed. He was afraid that Ares was going to be angry about this, even as he thought it, Ares' eyes were narrowing and his body language said *danger* in big bold letters. "Your mother, Hades and I have been discussing the issue of Strife. And we've come to a conclusion that he must be brought back. Now, there are a lot of ways that we could do this, but your mother thought that Strife needed a second chance with a parent that would love him even as a child. And since your sister is horrible with children, and doesn't seem to want to learn. We're giving him to you." The King of the Gods finished his speech, and looked around the assembly to the ones that had gasped. To all of their surprise, Ares grinned. He didn't like that he had grinned, of course. But Strife was once his second in command, and more like a son to him then some of his own children. The uproar around the assembly was minimal. It seemed that most of the Pantheon already knew about this, or had heard something. Suddenly, Ares frowned, and spoke up, "And just how are we giving Strife back to me?" he asked. Zeus let out a breath, he was hoping Ares had already caught on or something. He was just getting his son back from the hate that they had once shared for one another, and he didn't want to lose it. "Well, you see, Hades decided that it was too dangerous to just bring Strife back, so he thought it would be better if you, Ares, would carry Strife as a child, and give birth to him. He would have all the memories of his previous life." he added quickly. "After the birth he will grow extremely fast, we believe that it will take just a matter of days for him to grow to the same physical state that he was previously in before his death, but it's unlikely he will be in the same emotional state." Now was the time for Hades to say something, and with the state of shock that Ares was in, he had enough time. "And after that time he will need to be trained to be able to use his powers once again. But, he may not be mentally the same. That's where we think Cupid might come in?" he questioned the startled God of Love. Cupid nodded his head slowly, he hadn't known about this either. Probably because of his closeness to Strife. Part of him had died with his young cousin. "Strife...Strife's coming back?" he nearly squeaked, and tried his damnedest not to cry. When his mom put her arms around him, he buried his face in her hair. Aphrodite actually smiled at Hera. It was the first time she'd ever done it sincerely. "Thank you." she said. Cupid was one of the most important things in her life, and they had made him happy again. When Strife had died, she'd felt the breaking of her son's, which in turn broke her own. Ares came back to his senses slowly. He was carrying Strife, in his body? He looked down at the flat leather of his vest and resisted the need to rub his stomach. "I've got him now?" he questioned. At the nod that Hades gave him he frowned. "When did it happen?" he asked, "And just why the hell didn't you ask or atleast tell me first?" "Last night. They figured if you were already pregnant with him you couldn't say no." That was from Apollo. "What do *you* have to do with this?" Ares narrowed his eyes at his older brother. He really couldn't stand him most of the time, he was just too...Apollo. That same brother shrugged his shoulders, "I was helping Asclepius and Hades to get him in you, I am the god of medicine ya know." he gave Ares the 'duh' look."And Dad thought..." But Zeus interrupted Apollo before he could finish that thought, "Strife needs you Ares, noone can give him the same things that you have." He spoke clearly, smirking alittle when Ares just rolled his eyes without argument. Ares' frown deepened, he had hoped that they had put him in there long before yesterday. He had a bad feeling about this, "Did you check me before you stuck him in there?" he asked, suddenly nervous at having all these other Gods and Goddesses knowing about this. "Check you for what?" Apollo asked genuinely confused. Ares growled. Then gradually Apollo figured out what his brother had meant. He backed away, "Oh man, I didn't even think about it. Do you mean...?" he let the question go, knowing that Ares knew what he was talking about. The God of War nodded his head slowly, visibly controlling his temper. "I thought I might be, but I didn't know for sure." he growled through clenched teeth. Zeus and Hera kept looking at each other and then their son, "Hem, son, you mean you could be pregnant? By whom?" he was truly astonished, and he didn't know what this would do to Strife, and he wondered how none of them had noticed the child, especially Hera. Ares looked down at his feet, he really hadn't wanted to give Joxer away. The young mortal hadn't wanted the gods to know about him and Ares. He'd convinced his godly lover that it could wait. The God looked up at his mother and father, "Joxer's my lover." he said holding their eyes. ********(not beta'd from here on) "JOXER WATCH OUT!!"Xena yelled as the wanna-be warrior did a nose dive for the ground. The arrow that had been heading for his head skimmed past him, leaving him unmarked. Joxer rolled over onto his back, waiting as Xena dispensed of the last of their attackers. Gabrielle hurried over to Joxer's side, and gave him a hand up. "Are you ok Joxer?"she asked a worried frown on her face. He'd just walked into the camp as the pack of bandits stunk up, and they had shot the arrow at Xena, having ducked it flew past her and straight at the man. "Yeah, I'm fine. Who were they?" He asked, getting to his feet and dusting the dirt of his dirtier armor. Xena shrugged and went over to where Gabrielle had dropped her scroll bag, and put it back on Argo. "I think they were heading to Corinth." Xena supplied, "And so are we, did you want to join us Joxer?"she asked curiously. "Sure, i was heading to Corinth too. I wanted to visit Jett for a few, cause of our birthday and all." Joxer says and shrugged when Gabrielle frowned at him. "Just because he's an assign doesn't mean I don't love my brother."he says. He had always been with his brothers for their birthdays, all 6,000 of them. It was a Titan thing, family love, something that the Olympian gods knew nothing about, well most of them. "What are you guys heading to Corinth for?"he asked. Gabrielle smiled, "We're meeting up with Hercules and Iolaus." She was having trouble already, keeping Joxer's birthday party a secret. Sure they weren't always the nicest to him, but he was still their friend, and he'd been looking pretty down lately. They wanted to cheer him up, and it seemed the King Iphicles had an announcement about Jett, which seemed the perfect opportunity for it. "That'll be cool, it'd be nice to see those guys again." Joxer secretly hoped that Ares would come to annoy his daughter and little brother, he loved seeing his lover, even if he ignored him. It was part of the rules Zeus had made, and it was part of the reason Zeus was paying a price. %%% ............. Time: Day after Zeus took over Olympus. ............. "Your lucky i haven't killed you yet Joxen." Zeus growled at the Titan God of Peace and Redemption. The only reason he hadn't was that the world needed Peace. And until the fates foretold the birth of a new God of Peace Joxen was all that they had. And not to mention the fact that he beloved Hera and other brothers and sisters would stand behind Joxen and Joxen would let anything happen to his brothers. "Zeus."Joxen said patiently as he could muster, everyone in his family had been killed, besides his brothers. He was extremely pissed off, which was a rarity for this particular god. "Luck has nothing to do with it. You killed your Father and saved your family, for that I thank you. You killed my family and condemned my brothers, for that I curse you." Joxen's inter rage swirled around like a tornado. "There will be no Peace on Olympus. And I will father no children to take my place. The fates told you didn't they Zeus? That I would be the last God of Peace, if you killed me, your God of War would be out of your control and the world would be in utter chaos." Zeus lurched out of his chair, "No I wont be killing you, you'll serve me Peace, or you'll be sent to the mortal world and left there without all of your powers. You'll still be immortal ofcourse and have the ability to make peace, but you will not have the liberties that you have today."He says growling in the Titan's face. "If I ever see you or your brothers on Olympus I will destroy them." With that Zeus took away Joxen's ability to transport, or any form of protection. Doing the same with Jetton the Titan God of Assassins and Jacen Titan God of Dance and Sex. Except Zeus took more then just what he said he was going to from Joxen he took away his centre of balance, agility and his ability to fight. "Good Luck in the mortal world Peace."Zeus sent to the three brother' minds, and with that sent them all to the mortal world. |
