Chapter 8

**The Trouble Over Breakfast**

After the incident, my sleep was peaceful and dreamless. In the morning, I was awakened by Howie's lips as they made their way down my neck to my collarbone. My mouth formed into a huge smile as I opened my eyes and gazed down at the man who meant so much to me. He grinned at me and brought his lips to mine. We kissed for a few minutes until I told him that I had to shower and get ready.

"What are you going to tell the guys about Richie?" he asked while wrapping his arms around my waist.

I sighed, "Well, I plan on telling them, and YOU, everything over breakfast. If everyone is okay with Richie coming for the week, I'll see if his mother is willing to let him go."

At the mention of my son's mother, Howie was seized by fear. I saw this quickly and reassured him that I cared for him and no one else.

"Howie, don't worry about it. Angela and I were never together in the first place. I'll explain everything after I get ready."

He nodded his agreement and gave me another kiss before shoving me into the bathroom and telling me 'to hurry my ass up.' I giggled a bit as I turned the water to warm and then stepped in. When I finished my shower, I quickly shaved and brushed my teeth and then ran and got dressed in the bedroom. Howie had already gone to help with breakfast and as I walked out of my room, I could hear him tell the other guys that I had something important to talk to them about when the food was ready. Knowing what was coming next, I counted down from five, just reaching zero as Michelle came hurtling down the hallway towards me.

"You timing is impeccable as always, Sis. They could schedule covert missions by your timing," I smirked at her as her jaw bounced onto the floor.

"You told him?" she asked me incredulously and I just laughed in her face. Not to be a dick or anything, but her face looked hilarious.

"I'm sorry, 'Chelle, but that was so damn funny! Yes, I told him. I couldn't go with him and BE with him like this without telling him about Richie. He deserved to know and so did the others."

"Well, he seems to have taken it pretty easily considering that he's in your kitchen grinning like an idiot. What the hell is that all about anyway?"

I smiled as I thought back to his acceptance of my son. That had been one of the greatest moments that I have ever experienced. I basked as I felt myself falling deeply in love with a wonderful man who cared for all of me...everything that I was and that included my child. How in the hell did I manage to get so lucky? Who cares?! I had found someone and had NO plans of letting him slip away from me now. Breaking myself from my thoughts, I grinned at my sister like an idiot and dragged her toward the dining room.

As we came to the end of the hall, I could smell the aroma of eggs and bacon. My stomach growled loudly when I entered the kitchen and the guys all smirked at my reaction to their cooking. My eyes got huge when I saw how much they had cooked.

"Shit guys! Were you expecting an army for breakfast?" I asked them incredulously.

"Hey this is just for us! We're growing boys!" That, of course, had to come from Nick. That boy had to have some workout routine to keep all that shit he eats from turning him into the Blob from Hell. And I wasn't the only one who thought this, but I was the one who kept it confined to my head.

"Yeah, growing horizontally, Twinkie Boy! Are those love handles I'm noticing on you?" Michelle asked with a leer as the other guys and I all snickered at Nick.

As his response, Nick simply lifted up his shirt and patted his defined stomach, "Do you see any fat here hon? Perhaps you'd like to feel for yourself?"

To my amazement, Michelle, not the least bit flustered, walked up to handsome blonde and ran her hand over his stomach. His smile at that, however, turned to a look of shock as she lowered her hand into his shorts and gripped his cock.

"That's not the only thing that there isn't much of!" she told him with a mischievous grin, "And I don't ever do anything with my brother's friends. We're gonna have to find you a woman that likes Vienna Sausages!" When she was finished, we all looked at her in temporary amazement and then, remembering what she was like, we all burst into uncontrollable laughter. I don't think Nick's eyes could have gotten any larger, nor his face any redder, as she removed her hands from his dick. It also didn't help his embarrassment when she grabbed him in a headlock and proceeded to noogie the hell out of him! Damn, one of these days I was going to have to introduce her to that concept called tact. Ehh, it wasn't worth the effort. She was harder to tame than a feral tiger. Why even try?

"Alright Michelle, that's enough of freaking out the young one. I think you might have to blow him now as an apology. I wouldn't want one of friends to be afraid of you," I just couldn't resist adding in my own two cents. Of course, Nick had to then walk over and slug my shoulder and tell me to shut up, but, hey, I was man enough to admit that I more than deserved it.

"Okay Doug, I'll behave. Now, let's eat before the damn food freezes!" All the guys agree with her, and after sitting down and saying grace, we started to eat. This was my cue to speak.

"Um, guys, I really needed to tell you something. You know that Howie invited me to go with you for this week and I accepted,' they all nodded in agreement, "Well, there is something that you need to know about before I can get on this tour with you." I reached into my pocket and pulled out the picture of me and my son that I had shown Howie last night and slid it across the table to Kevin. Since he was the person in the group who handles most of the group's business, I felt that he should get to see my son first. I new that if there were problems, aside from Howie, he would be the one who would have to put the most effort into dealing with them. However, unlike Howie, I could see that he understood the situation right away. His look was one of immense shock. He didn't look pissed, which was a good thing, and that destroyed my worry. He passed the picture to the others around the table until it got to Howie.

"I saw it last night and just for the record, this hasn't changed anything for me."

AJ then spoke up in a confused tone, "What the hell are you talking about, D? What hasn't changed? Who is the little boy in the picture with Doug?" Brian and Nick also voiced their confusion. It was time for me to step in and explain.

"Guys, I just want you to know that I will completely understand if you hate me after this. It's happened to me before," I felt Howie grab my hand and squeeze it in support as I dropped the bomb on them, "This is a picture of me and my son Richie."

There was no sound then, absolutely none. It was horrible. Who knew that silence could be so deafening...so frightening?

The silence was short-lived, though, as the questions started to fly...but not all of them in my direction. Howie and Michelle weren't spared in the least.
