The New Guy

Author's Note- Here's another genius idea by DJ (Halfpynt). This is a dedication story, her second one because of her kindness when I was having a rough time.

"Get a load of the new dancers," Justin whispered to Chris.

The costumed dancers filed onto the huge stage, where the guys of Nsync were going to rehearse the new dance for Space Cowboy. They were all male dancers, and there was about twenty all together. They had dressed all in black, baggy clothes, with glittery masks that his their identity.

"Hey, look at that guy!" Chris laughed, pointing to a particularly short dancer. Chris jogged over to him and stood beside him. "Hey guys!" he called. "I'm actually taller than someone!" The other guys rolled their eyes and smiled as they took their places.

"What's your name, shorty?" Chris asked. In actuality, he was only an inch taller than the other man was, but that was enough for Chris.

"I'm DJ," the dancer answered, his voice muffled by the mask.

"So how's the weather down there, DJ?" Chris asked, gloating unnecessarily.

"Okay guys, places!" the choreographer called, clapping his hands.

Chris patted DJ on the head before he bounded off, energetic as usual. "I'm taller than DJ, I'm taller than DJ…" he sang.

Justin shot DJ a sympathetic glance as the music started and everyone fell into step. He hoped Chris didn't hurt DJ's feelings. 'Chris should know better,' Justin thought, doing a pelvic thrust. 'He was teased for his shortness constantly. Still is,' he added, smiling to himself.

"I'm not the shortest anymore!" Chris exclaimed for the billionth time that night.

"You're still the most annoying," J.C. mumbled, rolling his eyes. They were on their way to a local club, and to check out the women. After a long day of dancing, they wanted to kick back and be allowed to miss a step.

"You shouldn't be so mean to that guy," Justin said, causing the others to give him weird looks. "Well, you didn't like it when you were teased," he justified.

"But I'm not being teased," Chris replied, smiling. "For once."

Justin sighed. There was just no getting through to Chris sometimes.

"Okay guys, let's go!" Joey said, starting for the door.

"I'm driving," Lance called, running past Joey.

"It's my turn!" Justin argued, running after Lance.

Soon they were all running out the door, chasing each other.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They arrived at the club totally hyper. The guys were all eager to dance, even though they had been doing it all day. For the most part, they went unnoticed, which they were grateful for.
Chris and Joey decided to take a brake together, and sat at the bar to rest. While they nursed some drinks, they watched the other people dancing. Chris spotted a particularly fine girl dancing with out a boyfriend, and he watched her with interest.
"Hey, that's our dance!" Joey exclaimed, leaning over and yelling in Chris's ear.
Chris studied the girls moves, and realized they were exactly the same dance they had spent all day doing. "What the-?" he started, getting up and walking over to the stunning black girl.
"Hey!" he called, getting her attention over the music.
She looked up at him, her smiled fading.
"Hey," he repeated, getting a strong feeling of Déjà vu. He looked into her eyes, then over the top of her head to Joey. "DJ?" he asked.
"Yeah?" she replied, turning slightly red.
"What- you're a girl!" Chris exclaimed.
"I'm sorry," she replied, taking his hand. "Can we talk outside?"
He nodded and followed her, leaving a drunk Joey to think his friend was going to have a good time.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"I'm sorry," she repeated, once they were out in the cool, quiet night. "I know the dancers are suppose to be guys, but I just wanted to meet you so bad…"

"It's okay," Chris said, noticing her voice quivering. "I couldn't even tell."

"Are you going to make me quit?" she asked, turning her wet eyes to him.

"No, of course not," Chris said. "In fact, I owe you an apology for the way I acted before."

DJ smiled. "It's okay," she replied. "I liked making you so happy."

"Really?"

"Yeah. If I didn't, I would have beat your ass," she teased.

"I'd like to see that," Chris smiled, impressed by her charming boldness.

"So what do you say we go back in there and so them what we got?" DJ asked.

"After you," Chris said, bowing as he opened the door.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Come on guys, we gotta rehearse!" Chris yelled, waking the others up from their needed sleep.
Justin moaned and grabbed his battery-powered alarm clock. "Chris, it's five 'o'clock. Can't you wait?"
"Practice makes perfect," Chris chirped as he ran his fingers through his hair.
Lance looked at Chris and found his energetic friend was already dressed and ready to go. "Why are you in such a hurry?" he asked, rolling over and burying his face in the pillow.
"I want to dance," Chris said, not about to tell them that he had a crush on one of the dancers.
"So start dancing," J.C. said sarcastically.
Chris obeyed, yelling the words to the song as he performed the dance routine. The others rolled their eyes and tried to go back to sleep. Chris kept up his purposely-annoying singing, probably waking everyone in the hotel. Joey put a pillow over his face and tried to ignore their singing and dancing friend. Chris just got louder, then used a burst of energy to do a backflip.
There was a loud crash and glass shattered as Chris flipped right through the glass coffee table behind him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Jesus, what the hell did you do?" J.C. asked, jumping out of bed. They all rushed to help Chris, who sat in the middle of what used to be the coffee table, surrounded by glass and magazines.

"Uh…it wasn't me?" Chris asked, blushing. He was only wearing his sweat pants, which were now shredded. His legs had begun to bleed from crashing trough the jagged glass, but the fall had mostly hurt his pride.

J.C. and Lance helped him up, and he hobbled to the bathroom. He sat on the closed toilet and lifted his pant legs up, revealing his bloody legs. Amazingly, the fall hadn't hurt as much as it looked, but tiny pieces of glass were imbedded in his legs and had to be gently washed out.

As Chris took care of himself in the bathroom, the others called for some cleaners to come clean up the shattered glass and add the 400-dollar table to their bill. When things had settled down again, Chris emerged from the bathroom. "Well, I got your attention, didn't I?" he smiled.

"Yeah," Joey laughed. "I'd say you did."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chris jogged up to DJ happily. "Hey," he smiled, putting his arm around her.
"Hey yourself," DJ replied, her face hidden by the mask. They were back on stage again, fine-tuning everything before they shot the video. "I heard about you're accident this morning, are you okay?" she asked.
"Oh, that was nothing," Chris replied. "Just a little glass."
"Well be careful next time," DJ warned, looking in his eyes even though he couldn't see hers.
"Sure thing," Chris said, letting his hand slide down her back as he headed back to the guys.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Oh my God."

"He's gay."

"I knew it all along. No one can be that happy all the time."

"Gross! What if he watches us sleep?"

"Hey guys, what's up?" Chris asked happily, joining his friends.

"Nothing! Nothing at all!" Joey exclaimed, moving away from Chris.

"So Chris, you like that dancer?" J.C. asked.

"Oh yeah, we talked last night. We reached an understanding and had a good time," Chris said, remembering all the dances they shared.

"I think I'm gonna be sick," Justin said, going to the edge of the stage.

"DJ was nervous and upset at first, but we talked about it and we lasted the whole night," Chris said, smiling.

All the color drained from his friend's faces. J.C. spoke up at last. "Chris, why did you wait until now to tell us you were homosexual?"

"What?! What are you talking about? DJ and me had a great time. Ask Joey, he was there!"

"Holy mother of-"

"Gross! Joey-"

"I was not there! I don't have clue what he's talking about! I did not take part in some threesome!"

"Guys, what are you talking about? What threesome? DJ and me danced, that's it! She's a nice girl!"

"Wait a minute, girl?" Lance asked, looking at the dancer in question.

"Yeah, of course. What did you think, I'm 'into' men or something?"

"Well…" J.C. started, sighing with relief.

"That's just gross!" Chris exclaimed, walking away. "How can you think that? That's- I don't even want to know, nasty!" Chris said, wrinkling his nose as he headed back to DJ.

The others laughed to themselves as they watched Chris explain to DJ. She laughed and took her mask off, showing them that she was a girl.

"Thank God he hasn't totally lost it," Joey sighed.

"Well, I wouldn't put it past him…" J.C. smiled, watching Chris talk to DJ while looking at the others with distaste.
