"I'm hungry." McKenna complained.
2 Hours Later:
"Be quiet." McKenna told Savannah as she opened up their hotel door, which was in between Justin, Joey, and Chris' room and JC and Lance's room.
Savannah nodded, knowing that if the guys heard them coming back so late they'd probably get fussed at.
After they walked in, McKenna shut the door.
"McKenna!" Savannah yelled.
"What!?" She screamed.
"You just told ME to be quiet! YOU just slammed the door!"
Two seconds later there was a knock at their door. "Hello." Savannah said answering the door.
"Where have you two been all night?!" JC interrogated.
"It's only eleven thirty." Savannah and McKenna informed him and the rest of the guys.
"And we're supposed to believe that you've been at the beach since ten thirty this morning until now…Alone." Joey said.
Savannah looked at Joey and then Justin. Back and forth, back and forth her eyes traveled. From one to the next.
"Uh, yeah." McKenna said.
Savannah turned and went into the bathroom, shutting the door behind her.
"What's wrong with her?" Joey asked.
The rest of the guys shrugged.
"I'm not really sure. She normally tells me everything. But she won't tell me what's bothering her. All I know is that it has to be something big, because today at the beach I saw these guys approach her... like I'm talking babes and she gave them some excuse. And then I figured I'd bring some hot guys over and we could chill with them for the day, because guys normally cheer her up…but that didn't work this time...which is REALLY very strange."
"McKenna, where's the-" Savannah stopped in the middle of her sentence. The guys were still in their room. "Lotion?" She finished her sentence.
"Back in our room." Joey told her.
"Oh. Can I have the key so I can go get it?"
"I'll show you where it is." Joey said.
"That's okay." Savanah said. "I can manage."
"It's sorta hidden."
"Okay." She said as her and Joey walked out of her room into his. "Ow!" Savannah screeched.
"What?! What?!" Joey said startled.
"Your hand! Get it off of my shoulder!" She shrieked.
"Oh, sorry." He removed his hand from her shoulder. "Sorry again."
"That's okay. So, where's the lotion?"
"Right here." He walked into the bathroom empty-handed and came out with the bottle of lotion.
"Why was that a difficult place to find the lotion?" She asked.
"It wasn't. I just wanted to talk to you alone for a second."
"Talk then." Savannah said as she sat on one of the beds. "And while you're at it, make yourself useful." She handed him the lotion.
"Sure."
"Gently." She instructed.
"Okay." He sat behind Savannah.
"So, what do you wabt to talk to me about?"
"Us."
"What are you talkin' about?" Savannah asked.
"Look, I like you. I know-"
"You do?" She asked cutting him off. Savannah turned all the way around to face him.
"I do." He looked deeply into her eyes.
"I like you, too." She stuttered hesitantly.
"I know."
"What makes you so sure of that?"
"Chris told me."
"Thanks alot Chris." She mumbled angrily.
"No. It's not his fault. I bribed him to tell me what you guys were talking about the other day at the mall."
"Yeah, but-" She began.
Joey cut her off, by capturing her in a deep kiss.
"I gotta go." She said grabbing the lotion and running out of the hotel room.
"Wait!" He called out.
Savannah walked into her and McKenna's hotel room shortly after.
"Guys." Savannah said softly. "It's late. You really should be going."
"Savannah, I need to talk to you." Chris whispered to her as the rest of the guys exited their room.
"Can't it wait 'til morning? I don't feel very much like talking."
"Sure." Chris said.
McKenna awoke to the sound of someone knocking on the hotel room door.
"Hello." McKenna said rubbing her eyes.
"You ready?" Joey asked with a snicker.
McKenna's hair was all frizzed out, her pajama top was falling off of her shoulder, and she had a red line across her cheek.
"For what?"
"To leave."
"Leave?"
"Yeah. In ten minutes." He informed her.
"Um…Yeah. We're packed. But, Savannah's still asleep."
"When did you guys go to bed?"
"I went to bed after you guys left. Savannah, um…well, I got up to go to the bathroom around four or so and she was still up. She was crying. I'm really worried about her, Joey. I don't know what's wrong." McKenna told him. "I wish she would tell me."
"Don't worry about it right now. Have Lance grab her stuff. I'll take her to the bus."
"Okay." She said, leaving to find Lance.
"C'mon Princess." He whispered as he lifted her carefully.
Savannah laid in her bunk...still. Everyone thought she was asleep, but she had been up for the past twenty minutes. Finally she decided to get up so she could use the restroom. After brushing her teeth and going to the bathroom, Savannah went into the backroom to get Chris. He had wanted to speak to her the other night. So she figured that then was as good as time as any.
"Oh, you're up." Joey said kissing her on the cheek. She pulled away. "Good afternoon, Sleeping Beauty."
"Morning."
"Cute pjs." JC commented.
"Thanks." Savannah responded, not enthused by his remark. "Chris, can you come here?"
"Yeah."
"You said you wanted to talk to me."
"Oh yeah."
"What about?"
"It's about you, Justin, and Joey."
"What about us?" Savannah asked confused.
"Well…Gosh." He mumbled. "There's just no easy way to say this. I don't think you're being fair to them." He said sitting next across from her in a booth.
"How do you figure?"
"It's just that you're leading them both on."
"Again, how so?" Savannah was looking at him, tilting her head to the side.
"Well, first you're kissing all over Justin and you sleep with him!" Chris pointed out.
"Hold on just one second. He slept with me."
"It's the same thing."
"Not really."
"Anyway. Then you hang all over Joey and act like Justin doesn't even exist."
"That's not true!" She defended herself.
"Think about it, Hollywood."
"Well, okay. Maybe you are a little right. But, I didn't mean to. I mean. You can ask Kenna, I'm just a flirty person. I don't want to hurt anyone. I do have a heart and I know how it feels to be hurt. I don't want to do that to someone else." She said quickly.
"I believe that. I honestly do. I know that we haven't known you long, but you're just that kind of person. You just kind of know. Either way, you have to decide who you like. They both know that they have a little crush on you. Now you need to let them know who you have a crush on."
Savannah stared at him. She looked like reality had just smacked her across the face. She looked down at the table, where continued to sit quietly.
"You guys! Have George stop at the big salt lake thingy!" Savannah exclaimed. "It should be coming up on sunset."
"Sounds good to me." JC said. "We should be passing by anyway."
"Justin, Joey. I need to talk to you guys."
"K." They both said.
"Let's go over here." Savannah sat down in front of the lake. "Have a seat." Justin sat on her left and Joey on her right. I can do this. She thought to herself. I have to.
All was silent for about five minutes.
"You brought us over here to talk, but no one is talking." Justin spoke up.
"Right." She said uncomfortably. "As you both know. I like you…both." Savannah said looking straight out at the glistening water. "I've sort of been leading ya'll on. Or so one of my friends tells me. And…And I'm sorry, because the last thing I want to do is hurt either one of you. Well, you see…My friend, he told me that I needed to choose which one of you I liked or wanted to be with…And to stop fooling around with the other's emotions. He also told me not to put any thought into it."
"But that's just crazy!" Joey said interrupting Savannah.
"But to let things turn out on their own…How God intended them to be. He said I needed to let my heart decide. And I've come to a decision. But first, I want to thank you both. Ever since I met you all, all you have been is super nice to me. You've made me feel really happy. Which no one has been able to do in a really long time."
"And…" Joey said anxiously.
"And you both have great qualities. Justin, you're funny, athletic, sweet, and so much more. And Joey, you're charismatic, cute, protective, and nurturing."
"And…" Justin said.
"But Joey, you're too much like a brother to me. I'm really sorry Joey, I really am." Savannah gazed deeply into his brown eyes. She saw the hurt that they contained. "I'm sorry." She repeated.
"That's okay."
"No hard feelings?"
"No." He said as he got up to leave.
"Wait!" She called out. She stood up and gave Joey a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
"Thanks."
Savannah didn't reply. She knew his comment didn't need one. The hug and kiss had said enough. She back walked over and sat next to Justin. She rested her head on his shoulder and he put his arm around her.
"I'm really gonna miss you when you leave." Justin told Savannah as he twirled his fingers in her silky ponytail.
"Me too." She replied taking his hand in hers. "But, I promise you this…I will never, ever forget you. Never…" Savannah stared straight ahead at the sun stricken water, so as not to cry. "Ever…" As she said that a tear rolled slowly down her cheek. She didn't try to hide it this tie, like she usually did.
"Hey now. Don't cry. We'll keep in touch. There's always the phone, e-mail, and letters." Justin looked at the woman in his arms and briefly thanked the Lord for her. "And no matter what I'll always hold you and the time we've spent together in my heart…for eternity." After he said that Savannah rested her head on his knee and he rubbed her back.
"Isn't the sky gorgeous tonight?" She asked as she looked up at the different shades of blue, red, orange, and yellow that had seemingly melted together.
"Yeah." He whispered.
Savannah sat up and pulled her knees to her chest.
"You cold?" He had felt her shiver.
"Yeah, just a little." She told him.
"Here." He put his leather coat around her shoulders.
"Thanks."
"Savannah-"
"C'mon you two!" Chris yelled, interrupting Justin. "We're leaving!"
"I guess we should go." Savannah said.
"Yeah." He replied, sounding a bit disappointed. "Let's go."
"Yeah, me too." Savannah said agreeing with her.
"Why don't we go get some dinner?" JC suggested.
"Sounds good to me." Savanah agreed as her stomach began to growl. "And to my tummy." Shr added with a giggle.
"Your tummy?" Chris said slowly.
"Yes, my tummy." She lifted up her shirt, exposing her midriff. Just then Chris poked her belly button. "Hey! Stop that! That tickles!" Savannah began to laugh.
"Oh. We're ticklish are we?"
"No." Savannah said trying to hold back a submerging laugh. At that moment Chris began to tickle her. She couldn't keep herself from laughing. Neither could the other guys or McKenna.
"Stop! Stop!" She said through her laughs. "Please, please, please stop!" She said quickly.
"No. I don't wanna yet."
"But, I gotta go to the bathroom!" She said rapidly.
"In that case..." Chris stopped tickling her in a hurry.
"Got ya'!" Savannah said with a laugh as she sat back down and continued to watch television.
"Hey! That's not fair!" Chris complained.
"No one ever said life was supposed to be fair." Savannah stated, raising her eyebrows.
"Dinner was great!" JC exclaimed.
"Definitely!" McKenna added.
"Let's go." Joey said blandly.
As they began to leave Savannah pulled McKenna aside.
"Hey Kenna, how come you and Lance aren't speaking to each other."
"He asked me out the other night and I told him about Greg."
"Why? I wouldn't have. That's sorta stupid!"
"You guys comin'?" Justin yelled from the bus.
"Be right there!" Savannah answered with a smile.
"I made him cry…well, a few tears any way. But still, seeing him cry…it gave me this pain in my heart. This unbearable pain."
"Maybe that's because you're falling for him." McKenna shrugged. "In my opinion…you already have." Savannah said as they walked onto the bus.
