Chapter 7 ~The News~

“Hey Mom! What’s the weather supposed to be like today? Is it gonna rain anymore?”

“I dunno they haven’t said yet.”

“OK, I’ll be in there in a second.”

“Alright whatever.”

“...for our overnight news, we’ll tell you about a fatal car crash that killed one occupant and left the other in critical condition.”

“Whoa! That care was completely totaled.”

“What are you talking about Mom?”

“The people on the news just mentioned something about a fatal car accident that killed one person and left the other in critical condition. Then they showed a picture of the car. The top was completely crushed. I’m surprised they both didn’t die!”

“That’s really bad.”

“Yup.”

“Now for our top story. Christine is bringing us live coverage of the clean-up of this year’s worst accident. Christine.”

“Thanks Billy Bob. The remains of this totaled car is all that is left for us to see of the worst accident that has happened this year. The driver, a 23 year old white male, who’s name has not been released, was killed in the accident, while the other passenger, a 22 year old white female, who has not been identified ~her picture is displayed~ was thrown out of the front of the car. She’s being held in St. Joseph’s Hospital. If you recognize this young woman, please call 1-800-UNSOLVED.”

“Hey mom! That’s Leigh! What’s the number?”

“1-800-UNSOLVED.”

Brian quickly dialed the number. It took him several tries since his hands were shaking.

“Hello?”

“Hi, I know who that person is on T.V. That girl that was in the fatal car accident is Leigh Williams.”

“Thanks for your help and goodbye!”

*click*

“MOM!!!!!!! THE ONLY GIRL THAT I’VE EVER REALLY REALLY LOVED IS IN CRITICAL CONDITION!”

“Brian! Calm down! She’ll be OK!”

“I hope! I gotta get to the hospital.”

Brian and his mom get into his car and they hear the news on the radio.

“The 22 year old female in this year’s worse crash has been identified as Leigh Williams. she was catapaulted out of the passenger side. She wasn’t wearing her seat belt which saved her life. The driver identified as Christian Brazzley, didn’t survive. He was wearing his seat belt...”

“Mom, that doesn’t make since.”

“What doesn’t Brian?”

“I watched Leigh get into her car after her and Christian appeared to argue. She buckled up.”

“Maybe she unbuckled to get something.”

“I dunno, I’ve got so many unanswered questions running through my head.”
