"Hey." she said when he came in.
"Hi." he mumbled.
"You okay?" she asked as he flipped off the light and climbed into bed next to her.
"Yeah, it's just at the meeting today, everything was a big fight."
"Oh, I'm sorry." she said sincerely.
Nick smiled and kissed her lightly.
They laid there in the darkness for awhile, just talking and enjoying each other's company.
"Hannah, I have something I want to tell you. But I'm worried it will scare you off." he said.
"Nick, if the turtle boxers don't scare me off, nothing will."
He laughed lightly, then got quiet again.
"I know it's fast, but Hannah, I'm falling in love with you." he said almost in a whisper.
Nick felt her soft lips touch his then she moved closer to him.
"I'm falling for you too." she whispered in his ear.
They fell asleep side by side, knowing they had exactly what they wanted in life.
The next day, Hannah woke up and let Nick sleep. She took a shower, got dressed, and headed out to the newspaper press, where she worked.
She knocked and walked into her boss's office and sat down in the chair in front of him.
"Hannah, it's nice to see you today." her boss said. Hannah smiled, "I was just coming to see what my next assignment is."
"Oh yes, it's..." he said pausing to look at a sheet of paper, "It's 'What is love?' "
Hannah said thank you and headed home, thinking to herself, what is love?
