Chapter 1

When you fall in love, you give your all. You don't hold back, you let go of all your fears, fall head over heels and you let the person know the real you. But in love, there is always things that can go wrong. And when they do, you can't take back all the emotions and elements you shared with someone. Not only is you love gone, but your trust in love is gone too. When it comes to the heart, once it had been broken, it's hard to mend.

Claire had been sitting on her couch flipping through movies lazily when she landed on a channel. She just flicked off the romance movie and rolled her eyes at it. The phone rang and she got up and crossed the room to answer it. She walked into the kitchen and picked it up of the fourth ring.

"Hello?"

"Hey it's me." Angie said.

Angie and Claire had met in their first year of college, when they were both 18, and now being in their fourth year, they were 21 and best friends. They usually hung out together at least 5 times a week.

"What are you up to?" Angie asked.

"Nothing, you?"

"Nothing. I am supposed to be on a date with AJ, but he is sleeping soundly on my couch. So, wanna come over?" she asked.

Claire laughed lightly to myself. Angie and AJ had been dating for about half a year, and it seemed that 4 of the 6 months they had been together, AJ was sleeping.

"Sure. I'll be over in a few minutes." Claire said hanging up.

She slipped on her shoes and left her house. Claire drove over to Angie's and knocked a couple times on the door when she got there. Angie opened the door and flashed a huge smile.

"Hey." Claire said walking in and closing the door behind her.

She walked into the living room and laughed as Angie rolled her eyes at AJ, who was sound asleep. Angie walked into the kitchen to get a glass of water and Claire sat down near AJ. She shook his arm lightly, and his eyes opened.

"Hey Romeo, you do realize your supposed to be on a date with Angie, right?"

AJ yawned and just shrugged casually.

"It's not too late to go out." he said sitting up.

Angie walked back into the room and sat down on the other side of AJ, and he kissed her cheek.

"Sorry baby, it's just, we ended the tour a week ago, and I'm still exhausted." he said.

"It's okay. Wanna still go out? We all should." Angie said to AJ and Claire.

AJ and Claire shared the same dreading look and just shrugged.

"Okay don't get too excited now." Angie said sarcastically.

"Ooh! Idea!" she said jumping up.

Aj and Claire looked at each other and gave a why-do-we-like-her-again? look and turned back towards her.

"Nick broke up with his girlfriend a few weeks ago, right?" she asked.

Aj nodded slowly, hoping she wasn't up to what he thought she was.

"Well, me and AJ, and you and Nick can go out!" Angie beamed to Claire.

Claire shot up from her seat, "No, I don't date."

Angie looked at her disapprovingly, "You need to start! You haven't had a boyfriend in almost a year."

"And I don't want one. I've been hurt too many times. And for once, when I am not with a guy, I am happy." Claire argued.

"Ang, she's right, you can make her go." AJ interrupted.

Angie pouted and sat down near AJ again.

"Well, maybe you can go on just one date?" she asked.

Claire sighed and sat down, knowing Angie wouldn't be content till Nick and her went on one date.

"One date and don't expect me to fall madly in love with him, when I don't even want to go."

Angie smiled and got up to grab the phone for AJ, so he could call Nick. Claire sat down next to AJ and he patted her knee.

"You know Angie, Miss Matchmaker." AJ said.

"Yeah, unfortunately. I wish she would just realize I'm not looking for a relationship." Claire sighed.

She thought back to her three serious relationships she had. All ended in her getting hurt in one way or another. She thought back to her first relationship, and how it ended.

"Is someone in there with you?" she asked.

She had showed up at he boyfriend's house and she thought she heard him talking to someone, before she rang the doorbell.

"Uh, listen, I''ve been meaning to talk to you." he said.

"Josh, whose at the door?" a girl called from inside.

Claire inhaled sharply, "Are you cheating on me?!"

"Your never around anymore. I'm really sorry." he said, sounding guiltless.

"Sorry?" she said beginning to cry, "How could you do this to me?"

Josh just shrugged and she noticed how emotionless he looked.

"Bye Claire." he said shutting the door in her face.

Claire pulled out of her memory and turned to Aj, "I already can't wait for this night to be over, and it hasn't even started."
