Untitled Desires ~ for Bec

Part Three – Evil Men and Their Cheese

After Kel had threatened her life several times for even considering getting out of dinner with Kevin and Nick, Becca found herself pulling her car into the driveway of Kevin’s house in Orlando. She took a deep breath and got out of the car carrying a bottle of wine with her as she approached the door of the house. Her finger lingered before the doorbell as she took a deep breath and let it out slowly, "Okay Bec… you can do this…"

Not even seconds after she pressed the button the front door flew open and Nick stood there with a grin, "Hey!"

"Hey…" she laughed. "Were you standing at the door?"

"Kind of…" he chuckled showing her in. "I was coming down from the shower… sorry about the wet hair…" he smiled running his hands through his damp spiked hair.

"No problem…" she smiled with a shrug. No problem at all. Damn.

"Well come on in, Kev’s cooking in the kitchen acting all domestic…" Nick chuckled. Becca smiled and followed Nick admiring him from behind. Denim shorts the color of his eyes, white shirt, barefoot… he was a evil man. "Oh Wifey…" he giggled as they walked into the kitchen. "Our guest is here…"

Becca smiled with amusement as Kevin groaned and shot a look at Nick before turning to her and smiling, "Ignore him… welcome…"

"Thank you…" she chuckled. "I brought red…" she said holding the wine out to him. "I hope it’s okay…"

Kevin smiled and took the bottle glancing at the label, "It’s perfect…"

"I’ll take that…" Nick said as he snatched the bottle from Kevin’s hand, "Wifey…"

Kevin sighed and shook his head as Nick laughed and walked into the dining room putting the wine on the table. "Like I said… ignore him…"

"Oh come on…" Becca smiled. "What’s up with the ‘Wifey’ stuff?"

"Trust me…" Kevin chuckled as he returned to his cooking. "You really don’t want to know…"

Becca’s eyes trailed over Kevin’s body as she leaned against the counter and looked at him. White wifebeater, khaki cargo shorts, also barefoot… another evil man. "I can always ask Nick, he’ll tell me."

"Tell you what?" Nick smiled as he walked into the kitchen again joining the two.

"Why you’re calling Kevin ‘Wifey,’" she smiled.

"Oh that?" Nick chuckled. "Easy…" He walked over to Kevin and stole a carrot from the pile that was sitting near Kevin to use in his cooking. "He never cooks… I’m usually the one who has to cook, and I’m always telling him that I’m the poor unappreciated Wife of the relationship who never gets a night off. Use me up and leave me unsatisfied!" Nick laughed before biting the carrot. "Well not really," he smiled and gave Kevin a look. "But because he’s cooking tonight, I get a night off and he’s the Wifey…"

Becca chuckled and watched the two of them interacting with one another, they had to be lovers. "Very cute…"

"Very annoying…" Kevin laughed as he smacked Nick’s hand away from grabbing another carrot.

"So you two hang out together a lot then huh?" Becca pried. She had to know. She was face to face with the perfect opportunity to find out if what she’d been thinking and writing about had any validity, no way was she going to blow the chance.

"You could say that…" Kevin smiled looking up at Becca, his eyes staying on hers for a long moment before looking back to their dinner.

"Cool…" she said as she felt the temperature in the room rise and looked down at her hands.

"So Bec…" Nick said as he jumped up and sat on the counter near the carrots. "Can I call you Bec?"

You can call me anything you want… "Yeah… a few people call me that…"

"Cool…" he smiled. "So Bec, you dating anyone?"

"Nick…" Kevin scolded.

"What?" Nick laughed. "I’m just asking…"

"It’s okay…" Becca replied with a smile. "Um… not really."

"So no steady flame keeping you up all night?" Nick asked with his best grin.

"Nope… just a Kel…" she laughed.

"A Kel?" Kevin and Nick asked together then laughed.

"My roommate…" she nodded. "We’ve been friends forever. You guys actually kind of remind me of the two of us. She’s kind of like you Nick… goofing around and stuff a lot… and I tend to give her that motherly look like Kevin just gave you…"

"Mother…" Nick laughed looking at Kevin.

"Or Father…" Becca chuckled. "She’s a freak, but she’s cool…"

"Sounds like it…" Nick smiled. "Next time bring her along…"

Next time. He said next time. "Uh sure… she’d like that…" Nick looked at her and smiled with a nod before looking down at Kevin cooking. She watched as Nick’s bare foot casually swung back and forth in the air and the side of his foot grazed Kevin’s leg. Her heart skipped a beat every time their skin came into contact and she felt intoxicated.

"I say we break open the wine now…" Nick said as he jumped off of the counter and disappeared into the dining room momentarily.

Just what I need… alcohol. "This is a really nice home Kevin…" she said trying to initiate small talk.

"Thank you…" Kevin nodded. "It’s enough for me you know? AJ has an amazing house, but it’s huge. I don’t need six bedrooms. If I ever need that many rooms I’ll just move. For now, what I have here is just fine… I’ll give you a tour after dinner so you can see it all."

"That would be nice…" Becca smiled. "It’s kind of neat to see you guys outside of work. I mean, you’re pretty laid back in the office, but seeing someone in his or her home is a whole other story you know? Makes them even more real…"

"I agree… especially when you’re in the business that Nick and I are in. But it works for anyone. Like when you’re a kid and you never think of your teachers as having a life outside of school until you see them at the grocery store or happen to find out where they live."

"Exactly…" Becca chuckled. "I remember seeing our local weatherman from back home once in the grocery store when I was a kid. I went on and on for days to my mom about how Joe the Weather Man bought the same kind of cheese we did."

Kevin chuckled and motioned toward the fridge with his head, "Feel free to look through the fridge and see if we buy any of the same things…"

Becca laughed but then decided to take up the offer and crossed the room and opened the fridge much to Kevin’s surprise. She looked through the drawers silently and bent over to see everything down to the bottom shelf. Nick returned with the wine poured into three glasses and chuckled, "Looking for something Bec?"

"Cheese…" she laughed looking over her shoulder and Kevin chuckled with her.

Nick looked at them like they were crazy but walked up behind Becca and leaned over her opening a drawer in the fridge. His hip touched her ass slightly and Becca’s heart soared at the simple touch. "Cheese is in here…" he said softly in her ear.

"Ahh…" she said with a nod simply because that was all she could do. His voice in her ear was too much.

Nick chuckled and patted her shoulder, "Knock yourself out…"

She looked in the drawer wishing that she were looking through the freezer so that the coolness could calm her hot skin. With a slight chuckle she closed the drawer and then shut the door. "So?" Kevin said over his shoulder.

"Same…" she smiled.

"Very cool…" Kevin laughed.

Nick shook his head, "I don’t think I want to know what I missed… here…" he handed Becca a glass of wine and then resumed his place on the counter where he’d been sitting before. Again, his foot began softly touching Kevin’s leg as he swung his feet back and forth hanging off of the counter. Becca couldn’t keep her eyes off of the sight, and Nick smirked when he caught her staring. "Bec… tell us something about yourself…"

"Like what?" she said snapping out of her trance.

"Like anything…" he smiled. "You’ve been interviewing us for a month… it’s your turn to share."

"There’s not much to say really…" Becca shrugged.

Kevin looked at her and shook his head, "I sincerely doubt that… come on, tell us one of your favorite things…"

Becca traced her finger over the edge of her wineglass as she thought, "Um… I…You know… I much rather prefer being the interviewer instead of the interviewee…"

"Too bad, you’re on our turf tonight…" Nick smirked. "Right Kev?"

Kevin let a slow smile spread across his face as he turned off the burners on the stove, "Yeah that’s right… and dinner’s done."
