"That's a wrap, kids! See you here tomorrow afternoon." Brian spent the next few minutes chatting with the choir, posing for pictures and giving autographs until Kathryn arrived to break it up.
"All right, guys, there'll be plenty of time for this at the reception tomorrow. Give Brian a break and take off."
Good-natured grumbling ensued, but it only took a few more minutes to clear the stage.
"Sorry about that. They're all a little star struck!" Smiling brightly, Kathryn began to gather her music. "I'll have them under better control tomorrow, I promise."
"Not to worry, it's always fun working with the kids. It's a special program you've got going, Kathryn."
"We certainly appreciate the chance to work with you."
"You come highly recommended."
Kathryn alternately paled and then blushed. "Oh? Who--"
"Have you seen AJ, Brian?" Just then Nick bounded out of the wings, skidding to a stop between them.
"Not since lunch. Nick, this is Kathryn Morrison. Kathryn directs the choir we'll be working with this weekend."
"I know. We -- I mean, 'I've' been watching from the light booth. Nice to meet you," he said, shaking her hand and watching the most fascinating expressions pass over her face. It had to be a record number for that range of emotions to be covered in the span of four seconds.
"Thanks, Nick," she whispered. "I really have to go. See you tomorrow."
"Sure thing. Same time?" Brian asked.
"OK, the kids are eager to meet the rest of the group."
"Yeah, and I'm sure AJ will be thrilled to see you. I mean *meet* you. Umm, Kevin, too," he added hastily.
"Wanta tell me what that was all about?" Brian asked as they stared at Kathryn's retreating form.
"Nah. Maybe later." Nick grinned, wandering off in search of entertainment."
