“Just a little bit more, Mrs. Carter. Push once more for us!” ordered the doctor.
Lauren’s hair stuck to her sweaty forehead, and she gave one last push before collapsing in exhaustion. A loud wail interrupted her peace, though, and she opened her eyes to see her husband holding a tiny baby girl. “She’s beautiful,” he said.
“Megan Ann,” Lauren said softly. That was the name they had picked out for her.
“Megan Ann Carter. Thank you so much, Lauren,” he whispered into her ear.
“I love you, Nick.”
“I love you, too, Lauren. I love you so much.”
