“It’s nice to meet you,” Lauren replied.
“Why are you moving to Tampa? Are you going to school there?” Angela asked.
“Yeah, I am. I am actually living with my boyfriend right now in Seaside, but he’s…going to be gone for a few months, and I don’t want to live in his house without him,” Lauren said, avoiding her boyfriend’s name. She didn’t want to tell Angela all about Nick if she wasn’t going to be moving in with her.
“Ah, I understand, and it would be a hassle to drive all that way all the time, too,” Angela pointed out. “So tell me about yourself.”
“I’m nineteen. I don’t smoke or party and I am serious about school. I’m not quite sure what I want to be yet, but I’m hoping to figure that out soon. I don’t really have any family,” she lied, biting her lip. Angela looked at her strangely. “Well, I have kind of a screwed up past, but that’s exactly what it is: the past. I have a boyfriend that I love very much, and I’m going to miss him so much for the next few months, but I would try not to whine about that too much if I moved in with you.” She continued talking, and also found out about Angela.
She was a twenty-year-old junior business major, and she had never had a roommate before, but could no longer afford to live by herself. She was beautiful, with dark, straight brown hair, dark brown eyes, and tan skin. The only family she had was an older brother with whom she didn’t talk much. By the end of lunch, they had decided they were perfect roommates for each other and Lauren could move in as soon as she needed, which was in two and a half weeks, a few days before school started.
