*~*~*~*~*~*Chapter 3*~*~*~*~*~*

The girl let the mans body go and looked down at him. His walkie-talkie was still making noise. She stepped on it and it silenced. Once again she started moving.

She wasn’t heading for a place where the prisoner could be held, no, she was heading for the middle of the building. She stopped at a machine, it was so dusty that you couldn’t imagine it’s original colour. After all, it hadn’t been touched for half a century. With a smile she opened her bag and pulled out a small box and placed it on top of the machine, careful not to wave up any dust.

She then left the machine to search for the prisoner. She walked through a corridor and was just about to go around a corner when a sound was heard.

A sound that shouldn’t be there. The sound of someone crying. She pressed her ear against the wall and smiled. Yes, she had found him. But she also heard other noises. Talking. She digged through her bag and found a small mirror on a stick. With the stick in her hand she stuck it around the corner. She saw three men sit outside a door with the guns in their laps. They weren’t expecting anyone, that was for sure. She sunk down, leaning on the wall, and prepared herself for the coming attack. With a deep breath she threw the mirror far off the corridor. It had begun. There was no turning back now. She heard the men rising at the sound and she lifted her weapon. She was still in a sitting position against the wall. The first man came round the corner and within a second he was lying on the ground, his eyes opened with a shocked expression in them. The second one didn’t have time to react at his friends death, so he rounded the corner as well. He also was shot by the girl. He didn’t die at once, he sunk to the ground wondering who did this to him. When he saw the young girl sitting next to him with a satisfied expression on her face, he tried to alert his friend so he wouldn’t do the same mistake. But a bullet in his head stopped him.

She knew that the third man wouldn’t be as easy as the other two. He knew where she was, but she didn’t know his position.

She rose and stepped slowly around the corner.

Nick heard the moans of someone and a strange, fast sound that sounded familiar. The sound brought back memories of the day when he first saw someone die.

"I can’t do this anymore, I had no idea that it would be like this" Nick heard a girl say. He recognised the voice as Sandra’s. He rose and pressed his ear against the door in hope to hear more. Suddenly the door was opened.

Karl stood there. Behind him Nick spotted Sandra. She was crying and sitting on a chair, holding her head in her hands. When she saw him she rose. She spoke fast and desperately.

"I’m so sorry Nick, I am, I…" she began but was interrupted. Karl hit her hard across her face and she fell on the floor. Nick turned his face away, he didn’t want to see this. But Karl forced him to look again.

"She tried to contact the police, and now she is paying for it" Karl said. He let another man grab Nicks arm and bent down to Sandra, grabbing her hair and pulling her head back.

"Didn’t you sweetie?" he asked in a fake calming tone. Sandra looked terrified, and she nodded. Karl let her go and stepped back. With a quick move he pulled out a gun.

"The punishment for betrayal is death, and since she confessed she is guilty"

he said with a solemn voice. Then he aimed for her and shot. Sandra let out a cry just before the bullet hit her heart. Nick whimpered at the sight of the young girl lying on the floor in a puddle of blood. Karl turned towards Nick and smiled.

"Now you know what will happen if you try anything"
