"Where are you going this early?" Ty asked as she saw Howie getting dressed early the next morning.
He turned around, still buttoning his shirt. "Thought I'd run into the office, do a little checking on things."
She watched as he moved around the bedroom. "You mean on Paul."
He nodded slowly as he sat on the bed. "He's been a little quiet...almost too quiet..."
"How are you going to check on him?"
"I'll check through my messages and then I'll call down there...if he isn't there maybe that's a sign he's done with me." he looked at her. "And if he's there, I'm gonna start whatever process I have to so he's gone."
"Be careful."
Howie smiled, "Always." he leaned over and kissed her forehead. "Go back to sleep its still early. I'll try and make it back for lunch."
Checking the clock on the dresser Ty pushed herself out of bed. Howie had been gone at least an hour and she hadn't been able to fall back asleep at all. Getting tired of just laying there she headed down to the office downstairs, hoping she'd find something there to occupy her time. Spotting her briefcase in the corner she picked it up and set it on the desk, might as well clean that out she thought to herself as she flipped it open and started taking everything out. She'd just set down a couple pads of papers and a few files when she turned back to the legal pad stuck between the files. Pulling it out she realized it wasn't her handwriting, instead it looked remarkably like Lou's. Flipping through the legal pad, Ty paled as she read what was written. With a shaking hand she grabbed the phone and dialled Esha's cell.
"Hello?" E answered.
"E, its Ty..."
"You okay? You don't sound that good..."
"Can you get over here right away? I think I found something..."
Sorting through his messages that were on his desk, Howie set most of them down. Not a single word from Paul at all. Slipping into his chair he called his affiliate office and asked to be put through to Paul. He was shocked at the secretary's words, "Mr. Dorough, Paul said he'd handed in his resignation before he left for the States weeks ago."
Howie cleared his throat. "I haven't seen it. Are you sure?"
"Very. His office is cleaned out."
"Well thank you."

Esha stared down at the legal pad full of Lou's notes. "Where did you get this?"
Ty looked up at her friend. "When I went back to get my briefcase, I thought it was one of mine...I didn't even look at it till now..."
She turned back to the paper, flipping through the pages. "There's a contact number..."
"Uh huh..."
"I think David would say to call it."
"I don't know about that..."
"It's local..." E pointed out.
"Yeah but who's going to be on the other end?" Ty questioned nervously.
"Good point, but I have to say this number looks familiar." E said, looking back down at the legal pad.
"We've seen a lot of phone numbers lately."
"That we have." E said as she dug through her purse and produced her cell, quickly dialling the number.
David shut the door to Ty's office behind him and looked at the two women waiting. "Okay...what's going on?"
Ty waved him into the chair and took a deep breath. "It seems I have something of Lou's."
"How?"
"She took it by mistake after the meeting." E said handing him the legal pad.
He took it and began reading over the first page, his face turning serious as he read notes on the group and contract figures, flipping ahead he found details on the envelopes, contact numbers for Alannah and Donnie and near the end amounts of money to be transferred to several accounts, flight numbers and a card stapled to the back piece of cardboard. "Did you read the card?" he asked finally.
"We didn't get that far...we stopped after we called Donnie's office..."
He reached over and took the phone off the desk, dialing the number on the card. After two rings someone picked up, "I'd like to speak to Agent Walker please."
