Nick pulled himself off the floor. After spending most of the night talking they'd finally fallen asleep around three a.m. Covering Lis with the blanket that was laying on the chair he forced his still half asleep body down to his office, wanting to set his plan into motion.
Hearing the sound of Nick swearing as he stumbled from the room Lis woke up and looked around the darkness. Still too early for anyone rational to be up. Which explained why Nick was. He was so excited about his idea he wanted to get started right away. Deciding she was too tired to go see what he was up to, she pulled the blanket closer around her and rolled over, falling back asleep almost instantly.

David's secretary stopped in the open doorway to his office. "What the..."
He looked up. "We were broken into, don't worry..."
"Broken into?" she asked, seeing the mess of his office. It hadn't ever looked like that, even when they moved into the building.
"Yeah and we know who's behind it so nothing to worry about. Now can you do us a favor and run out and get some coffee and breakfast? We haven't had time to do anything but sit here and try to get some semblance of order here..."
"Course. I'll be back in fifteen."
"No rush." E said, setting another box of empty folders down. "We won't be going anywhere for awhile."
"Okay then." she took a final look around at the mess and with a shake of her head disappeared down the hallway.
David laughed quietly. "Think she's shocked?"
"I'd think so." E agreed, "Hope she hurries with the coffee."
"I could make some." he said attempting to get out of his chair.
"No that's okay! You've made coffee before, I'm surprised I'm still alive."
"It wasn't that bad."
"If you say so."

Kevin woke up to find his head on his desk and excruciating pain running down his neck. "Damn desk." he muttered, slowly sitting up. He glanced at the couch where Alec was asleep, the contract still in her hand that was resting on the floor. In front of him was the notes they'd made. If and that was an enormous IF, he did sign on with Lou there were several changes he wanted made in there. He blinked as the thought hit him, he was actually considering signing that piece of paper.
*****
"Morning." Howie greeted his wife as he slowly woke up.
"Morning." she smiled as he rolled over beside her. "What are you doing today?"
He sighed, "I think I'm going to start going through the boxes we brought home early this morning."
"I'll help."
"That'll be good...I wanna go through it with a fine tooth comb I mean there's gotta be something I've missed."
"Then we'll find it." she assured him.
"Hope so."
"We will..."
*****
Alec tossed the newspaper on the kitchen table as she walked in, "Coffee?"
"Whole potful." Kevin stated, pointing towards the coffee pot on the counter.
"Hallelujah."
Kev laughed. "What do you think?" he asked nervously, playing with the coffee mug in his hand.
She sighed, falling into the chair across from him. "Its up to you. Your the one who'll be bound by it if you do sign it."
He sighed, "Damnit I hate this."
"Tell me something I don't know."
Kevin sat in silence for a minute. "What are we doing today?"
"No idea." she looked at him. "Why? Do you have something in mind?"
He sighed. "I told Howie and J I wanted to get the locks on this place changed and I think its a good idea..."
"Whatever you think's best."
"I'll get out the phonebook and find someone who can do that today. Maybe we should find out who's missing their set of keys."
"And if no one is?"
"Then...well at least the locks are changed." he said as he forced himself out of the chair and headed over to the closet where the phone books were.

Lou unlocked the door to his office and stepped inside, shutting the door behind him. Tossing his briefcase on the chair he headed for the windows and stared down at the parking lot. No sign of the car he'd seen following him to work that morning. He was sure he was being followed, it had been behind him the entire drive, from a few blocks from his house to when he turned into the parking lot. There was no way he was getting paranoid. Turning around he headed behind his desk, reading the memos that were laying there. Finding nothing interesting he put his briefcase on his desk and decided to get to work. He had a few hours until his meeting, just needed to keep himself occupied.

AJ walked out of the bathroom hurriedly wrapping the towel around his waist as he went for the ringing phone on the dresser. "Hello?" he asked, propping it against his shoulder.
"Hey J."
"Hi D. Why ya calling? Hear something from Kev?"
"Nothing yet. Planning on giving him some time before I call and find out what's going on."
AJ nodded, seeing Jenn walking towards him and giving her a small smile. "Hi." he whispered to her.
"Hi." she kissed his cheek and headed for the kitchen for coffee.
"So why'd ya call D?"
Howie cleared his throat, "I uhm well Ty and I are going through all my paperwork today and I know you helped me out before..."
"You figure four people going over everything is better then two."
"Right. But if you and Jenn are doing anything I mean just forget it."
"I doubt we have any plans for today. I was thinking of just kicking back outside by the pool."
"So we can count on you guys showing up?"
"I'm sure Jenn would be up to it."
"I would be up to what?" she asked from behind him, holding two coffee mugs in her hands.
"Hold on D." he turned around, "D wants our help to go through a stack of papers at his place."
"Today?"
"Yeah."
"Tell him to give us about an hour." she said handing him his mug of coffee and taking a seat on the bed.
"D?"
"I heard Bone. No rush, somewhere around lunch will be fine."
"All righty, see ya then man." he clicked the phone off and tossed it on the bed next to his wife.
She looked at the phone, "There goes our day to ourselves."
"I'm sorry."
"Its okay honestly." she smiled at him. "Planning on going over there in just your towel?"
He laughed as he looked down. "I was thinking about starting a new fashion trend..."
*****
"Boss?"
"What are you doing calling me on this line?"
"Sorry...I just thought you'd like to know Lou's in his office...just got there about ten minutes ago."
"Good. You know what to do."
"I do, the minute he moves I'll let you know."
"He didn't see you?"
"Doubt it. Stayed far back."
"Great. Thanks...oh one last thing!"
"Yeah?"
"If he at anytime meets up with Paul Hardy call me right away."
"Will do David."
*****
"Who was that?" E asked, walking back into the office with lunch.
David smiled as he hung the phone up, "Nothing important."
"All righty." she handed him take out and sat back down. "You know if you didn't know what this place looked like this morning you wouldn't know anything had happened."
"Its still got a ways to go." he said, seeing the stacks of paper still covering half his desk.
*****
Paul tossed the set of keys down on the table, "Those were so very helpful."
"Glad to know."
"My man got in and out quite easily. So surprised to find they didn't have a decent security system."
He shrugged. "Guess that's not what their so concerned about at the moment."
"You'd think they would be. Anyone could just get a set of keys and sneak right on in." Paul laughed to himself. "Make sure those get returned will you?"
"Of course."
*****
David searched the desk for the papers that went into the file he was holding. Moving a few stacks he finally found what he was looking for and put them inside, dropping the file into the box at the side of his desk. Sinking into his chair he grabbed the stack of unsorted papers in front of him and slowly began to go through them.
E glanced up from the report she'd been thumbing through. "Need anything?"
"No so far its all taking care of itself." he said, putting the papers into neat piles. "What's so interesting?"
"The report you made on Lou...I'm putting all the Lou and TransCon papers together for easy reference."
David smiled, "At this rate it'll be another ten years till we get near any of that."
*****
The locksmith changed the locks on the front door while Kevin hovered around, watching to make sure he did it correctly. He couldn't help the sneaking suspicion that anyone could be on Lou's payroll. It was enough to make him weary of anyone and everyone who crossed his path.
"Mr. Richardson?"
"Oh!! Yeah?"
The man looked up, "If your gonna hang around me that's all right, but if you are you could hand me that drill over there?"
Kevin smiled sheepishly. "Sorry!" he apologized as he reached for the drill and crossed the hallway towards him.
"Its no problem." he took the drill from him. "My assistant will run out and get some copies made of the keys. How many did you need again?"
Kevin sat on the small bench in the corner. "In all we need twelve keys for each lock."
"Whole lotta keys." he commented, pulling the old locks out of the door.
"A group of us share the house." Kev answered, watching him intently.
"Its a nice place to share." he said, glancing around.
"It can be." he stretched his legs out in front of him. "The locks will be the same on both front and back doors?"
"Yes and the patio doors will have their own set of locks."
"Good."
Alec wandered into the foyer. "Kev?"
"Yeah?"
"Can I borrow you for a minute?"
He glanced at the locksmith then back at his wife. "Course you can."
*****
Kevin shut the door to his office. "What is it?"
"Just wondered if you were going to be spending the entire day with our friendly Orlando Locksmith."
He laughed, "Highly unlikely. I'm just watching..."
"Watching for what?"
"All right I'll admit I'm paranoid."
She smiled, wrapping her arms around his neck, "You could of just said you wanted to learn how to replace locks..."
He blushed, "Would you of believed that?"
"Probably not."
*****
Nick went through his closet, yanking clothes out and tossing them onto the chair. "Lissy..." he whined.
She laughed, "What?"
"What looks like I mean business?"
"Get out of my way Carter." she pushed by him and started going through his clothes. "You don't wear suits so don't try to wear one now, that's just not like you."
He smiled, "You know me too well."
"Yeah well..." she glanced back at him. "Where's your green button down?"
"Tossed it over there."
"Get it."
Pulling it out of the pile of clothes he handed it to her and watched as she pulled out a white t-shirt and a pair of pants. "Man..."
"There ya go." she handed him the clothes. "That's what you'd wear." she looked at the few suits laying on the bed. "Lou would know something was a little off if you walked in wearing one of those. Kev wears suits, you don't."
*****
Ty waved as she saw AJ and Jenn walk out onto the patio. "Enough paper?" AJ joked seeing the stack on the table beside her.
"Oh this is only the start of it." she answered. "There's about four storage boxes full too."
Jenn groaned, "You're kidding me."
"Oh no." D said taking a seat. "And that's only what I brought with me."
"We gotta go through all of this?" AJ asked lifting his sunglasses to stare at his friend.
"If we wanna find something out, we're going to have to."
"This is going to be one long day."
*****
"What do we need on Lou again?" E asked hours later, taking a sip of her ice cold coffee David's secretary had brought in hours earlier.
"Anything. At this point we're desperate." David answered, not looking away from his computer.
"How desperate is desperate?" she questioned.
"What do you mean?"
She bit her lip as she thought deeply for a minute, "The wives had a meeting, they want to find something on Lou..."
"E!!!!! They've been involved enough as it is."
"Maybe they have but they want this to end...hell I'd like my life not revolve around this for awhile too..."
"So what are you suggesting?"
"Let them use your conference room, give them access to your computer....maybe they'll find something that seems unusual to them but not to us."
He leaned back in his chair. "Let me think on it for awhile?"
"Course."

Brian sat outside in the sun, his eyes closed as he just enjoyed the peace and quiet of being home. He'd heard the sliding door open a few minutes before and knew Shan was either still watching him or had opened it and was about to come out in awhile. He had his answer when he heard her footsteps cross the yard towards him.
"Bri?" she said quietly, unsure if he was awake or asleep behind those sunglasses.
"Yeah?"
She smiled, "I made lunch."
"Not so hungry right now." he reached out to her and pulled her to sit beside him on the lounger.
"its just sandwiches...there's no rush." she ran her fingers through his hair. "You look almost relaxed."
He gave her his usual smile, "Do I?"
She nodded. "Wish I could be."
"You will soon."
"Why do you say that?"
"Just an instinct."
