PART 69
AJ let himself into Ty and D's house and slowly shut the door behind him. Most of the blinds were drawn making the house pretty dark for almost mid afternoon. "Howie??? Man you here?" He called, his voice echoing through the house.
Howie walked into the hallway from the kitchen, "Come on out here J, we'll talk back here."
"Okay." he took his jacket off and tossed it on the coat rack as he headed down the hall. "You okay D? You didn't sound that great and now you're practically living in the dark, something happen?"
Howie stifled a laugh, "My you sound concerned."
"I am. You know your my best friend D."
"Are ya??" Howie slid into the chair and looked AJ over. "If your my best friend then why is it you did exactly what I told you NOT to do AJ????"
"What are you talking about?"
"For starters last night!! I told you not to tell Ty anything about that but no you tell her everything and to top it off...YOU DAMN WELL BRING HER THERE!!!!!! WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING???"
AJ cringed at the anger in his best friend's voice. "Ty told me to take her over there or she'd go herself...you know yourself once she gets an idea in her mind you can't talk her out of it."
"Or you were just lazy and didn't want to. Do you not know what she could have walked in on??? Or what could have happened if Paul had seen her there?? He isn't stable AJ, he had a gun!!!!!"
"He did?"
"Oh he did...he wouldn't have thought twice about shooting her or me..."
"You don't know that for sure."
"And you do????"
AJ sighed, "Look man Ty told us a lot of what she heard."
Howie's eyes narrowed, "Its none of her business."
"Isn't it?? She's your WIFE Howie...this whole situation worries her and that isn't good."
"I'm going to take care of it, don't worry."
"How are you planning on doing that?? If the five of us couldn't do anything, what makes you think you by yourself can take Lou down?"
"Aren't you trying to take him down alone with this signing idea of yours?"
"Right now I'm buying us all some time."
*****
"Why us??"
Ty sighed, "Why not us??? We know everything about Lou or almost everything, we hate the man I think we could scare him pretty badly and as a plus I wouldn't mind slapping the ass a few times for good measure."
"She's got a point, I wouldn't mind taking a few shots at him myself." Shan said with a smirk, "This could be one time Tae-Bo comes in handy."
"I don't think we're seeing the big picture guys."
"Which would be?"
"What if he laughs us out of his office..."
"Then we stop him from laughing. We know just as much as the guys do right now."
"Besides there is always Brian's route. Attack him and maybe he'll learn to listen."
Hearing the endless ringing of his private line, Lou walked into his office and surveyed it slowly. Empty as was the waiting room outside. Closing the door he hurried over and picked it up. "Hello? Hold on let me check the calender..." he reached across the desk and flipped the datebook to Monday, "I'm pretty much free in the afternoon...just a few appointments...most because of the upcoming release about AJ...okay I'll see you then." Hanging the phone up he leaned back in the chair, only a few more days he thought with a smile.
Walking slowly upstairs, Alec headed for her bedroom. She'd checked the driveway and found his car there and instinctively knew where he'd be found. Opening the door, she found him stretched across the bed sound asleep. Crawling into bed next to him, she rested her head on his chest and listened to his heartbeat, wondering what was going through his mind. It felt like ages since they'd really talked and somehow she had the feeling he was up to something.

Brian pulled his denim jacket closer to his body as he stared out at the surf. After his little conversation with Nick he'd gone back inside, grabbed a blanket, made a quick lunch and left heading as far down the beach as he could make it without his legs killing him. The worst thing was that what Nick had said had actually made a little sense, but to cop out now when they were so close to getting him and taking their lives back was crazy.
"Have any of you seen Brian?" Shan asked, walking into the living room and finding the other three wives sitting there watching television.
Lis shook her head, "Not since he talked to Nick a couple hours ago. He's not around?"
"No and his car's still here." she sat down in the armchair. "Where do you think he went?"
"Probably to get some alone time." Jenn offered, "They all are doing that lately. I bet he'll be back by dark. Probably took off down the beach or something. I don't think he'd venture that far."
"Do you want me to ask Nick if he knows where he went?"
"Would you? I'm just worried."
Hearing the door open Nick rolled over and glanced over tiredly. "What?"
"You were sleeping?"
"Yeah that's usually what I do here when I'm alone."
"I just wanted to ask you if you knew where Bri went after he talked to you."
"No idea and I really don't care. Why?"
"None of us have seen him and Shan's a little worried."
"Tell her not to, Frick doesn't do stupid things."
"Your right. Go back to sleep, I'll be downstairs."
Nick sighed, "Go tell Shanny and come back up okay?"
Knowing better then to ask why she just nodded and quickly left.
Kevin woke up and yawned, stretching slightly as his eyes opened and he saw his wife asleep beside him. When did she come in here, he wondered, looking down at her. He kissed her forehead and pulled her close to him. It seemed like forever since they'd been this close. Resting his head against hers he slowly drifted back off to sleep, a smile of contentment on his face.
