thnx for the feedback!! Part 18: **************************************************************************** Lis padded down the hallway in her nightshirt, "Nick?" she asked with a yawn. She found him in his office, typing something on his computer. "Oh hi...I think you got a message this morning." he said motioning to the answering machine. "I'll check it later, you coming back to bed?" "Its almost lunch..." She shrugged, "So?" He laughed, pulling her closer. "You missed me huh?" "Maybe..." she looked at the computer, "What are you working on?" "Oh just making a couple lists of everyone who was on tour." "Why?" she glanced down at him and he turned away, turning the computer off. "One of the guys wanted to see how many times certain people worked for us...anyways didn't you say something about bed?" Shan paid the cab driver and walked quickly up the driveway of her in-laws. She rang the doorbell and set her small suitcase down. The door opened and Jackie smiled, "Shannon! This is a surprise." "I know but I thought I'd come up. Hope you don't mind" she said following Jackie inside. "Not at all! Did you bring Brian with you?" Shan paused, "Brian?" "Oh no you two aren't in a fight are you honey?" Jackie asked worriedly. "No not at all, he's busy with songwriting so you know I thought I'd come up for a visit for a few days. Maybe he'll surprise both of us and show up." She answered, trying to figure out why Brian was lying to her. Course maybe he hadn't flown into Lexington yet. That what was going on, he just hadn't gotten there yet. She relaxed and settled in to visit with her mother in law. "Delivery for Mrs Richardson," the man said as Alec opened the door. "I'm Mrs Richardson." she said, taking the envelope from him. "Just sign here," he said handing over the clipboard. "All right, thanks." she shut the door and looked down at the envelope. That's funny, I'm not expecting anything she thought to herself. Just as she started opening it the phone rang and she set the envelope down heading to her office to answer her own line. AJ studied the sets of numbers on the papers in front of him and then checked the books again, "D, you and Ty okay?" he asked. "Yeah uh huh we're fine." D answered absently, busy highlighting a few things. "No big fight? No uh surprises?" D glanced up, "What are you getting at?" "I mean Howie are you okay? I had a long talk with Nick and he and Lis are on the rocks since she saw those pictures I just want to know my best friend isn't in the same position." Howie smiled, "Trust me we're fine." Brian picked up his cell phone, "Hello." "Hi honey." Shan said sweetly, she walked along the fence kicking at the occasional stone. "Shan! I was just about to call you." "Guess I beat you to it. How's the meetings?" "Boring. Same thing over and over, can't wait till I fly to Lexington tomorrow." "Oh you'll be there tomorrow?" "Yeah. Leaving around lunch..." he listened to the silence at the other end, "You still there?" "Just thinking, I mean I could catch a flight and meet you." He sighed, "Shan we've gone through this. There's no reason for you to be in Lexington." "Your awfully adament about me not coming Bri." "I'm just afraid you'd be bored...Look I have to go I have another meeting but I'll call you later okay?" "Don't bother." she said as she clicked the phone off. Brian stared at the phone in shock for a minute, she'd hung up on him. He set the phone on the bed as he grabbed his jacket and headed for the door, he didn't want to be late for this meeting. Lis smiled seeing Nick sound asleep in bed beside her, a half smirk on his face. Silently she slid out of bed and headed down the hall, closing the office door behind her. Taking a seat in the chair she hit play on the machine and heard Shan's voice. "Oh great..." she reached for the phone and hit speed dial. She pulled her cell phone out of her jacket pocket. "I told you not to call me back." "Uh actually you said you'd call me back." Lis said. "Lis? Oh sorry I thought you were Rok." "What now?" "He isn't here...he's supposedly coming tomorrow and he doesn't want me here. I'm tempted to grab my bag and head home." "Maybe he's just stressed with the meetings. He's got a lot on his plate right now..." "You think I should stay?" "I think it would be foolish to fly up there and back in one day and not even see your husband." "You could be right. Would you mind going by and grabbing the mail later? I forgot to ask you before..." "Course. I'll swing by later." "Thanks." Shan sat down and sighed, "You sound different. What's going on?" Lis laughed, "You wouldn't believe it if I told you." "You slept with Nick? Tell me you took him back before you did. Or did he get you drunk??" she teased. "We talked and I believed what he said..." she said softly, "Is that wrong?" "No its not. He's your husband and you know him better than most so if he was lying you'd be able to tell. So you two are okay now?" "I think so." Lis smiled seeing Nick standing in the doorway, smiling at her. "What do you want me to do with the mail?" "He's standing there huh?" "Yeah." "Probably just put it in the house...I should be back soon." "All righty. Bye Shan." "Bye." Nick leaned against the door, "Shan?" "Yep, she went out of town for a couple days so I gotta grab the mail later." "No rush on that is there?" "Don't think so." "Good, I'm thinking we need some one on one time."
