End of the Road *Chapter 9*

--Brian...I...I...can't...imagine my life without you in it.  This is the 
most important decision of my entire life but...
--If you need some time...
--it's also the easiest.  There's nothing I want more than to be your wife.  
I love you, Brian.  Yes, I will marry you.
Brian breathed a deep sigh of relief.
--Wow.  Really?   
Ami began to laugh.
--Yes, really.  You thought I'd say no?
Brian cupped Ami's face in his hands and pulled her toward him.  
--Wait.
--What?
--You don't really think I'm gonna kiss you until you put that ring on my 
finger do you?  You think you can just tease a girl with something like that?
Brian laughed and pulled the diamond from it's place in the box.  Ami gave 
him her hand as he slid it onto her finger.  She stared at it for a moment in 
disbelief.
--I never thought anything this beautiful and perfect would be mine.
Brian smiled at Ami and moved toward her lips.
--Me either.


Ami lay in the comfort of Brian's arms.  She couldn't sleep.  There was no 
reason to.  Nothing in her dreams could possibly compare to what she already 
had in reality.  
--Brian?  Are you asleep?
--Yes.
--Wake up.
--Why?
--Because I can't sleep.
Brian opened his eyes and smiled at her.
--Is this a habit I should get used to?
--Mmhm, especially since you'll have a two year old living with you soon.  
She's not going to be happy ya know.
--Why?  You don't think she'll like the idea of me becoming her dad?
--No, I think she wants to marry you herself.
Brian laughed at the thought of Hailey pouting because of the wedding.
--Well, doesn't she have a crush on Aaron?  Maybe we can bribe her.  She can 
be the flower girl, Aaron can be the ring bearer and they can walk down the 
isle together.
--That might work.
--I can't believe this is for real.  
Ami was staring at her ring.
--Did you only agree to marry me so you could have that ring.
--Absolutely
--Just remember that if you leave me, I get the ring back.
--That'll never happen.
--You sure?  I mean, you did say you thought Nick was cute.
--Nintendo and comic books are not my idea of a romantic evening.
--I'll be sure and remember that.
--Are you sure you're ready to be a father?  That's a lot of responsibility.
--I love Hailey.
--That's not what I asked.
--I've wanted to be Hailey's father since the moment she was born, since 
before she was born.  
--And me?  Are you ready to put up with me on a full time basis?  I could put 
a real crimp in your heartthrob status.
--The sooner the better.
Ami sat up in bed suddenly.  
--Oh my Gawd.  Brian, we have so much to do.  Get up.  We have to get 
invitations, a church, I have to get a dress...
--Ami, its 3 o'clock in the morning.  You think it could wait a few more 
hours?
Ami started laughing at her eagerness and lay back down beside Brian.
--Yeah, I guess so.
Brian turned on his side to look at Ami and leaned over to kiss her again.
--I love you.
--I love you too.
