BOYS OF THE NIGHT - #15
Looking incredibly suspicious, Nick carried her into the airport. He got his tickets and few strange looks from the people around him. Not liking the staring, he was grteful it was so late in the night and barely a person was coming in or leaving the boarding gates.
He sat down, the sleeping girl in his lap and waited for his flight to be called. An attendant stared blatently at him and dialed in a security number. He watched her, his blue eyes glowing with anger.
"Don't even, bitch...," he mumbled through a clench jaw. She set the phone down and looked away, her gaze was clouded over and she stood silently.
Nick smiled. A genuine, bright smile. He'd just worked his first trance on a human.
"Flight 721 is boarding now," a voice called over an intercom.
Nick picked Barb up in arms and carried her to the doors that led to their plane.
"It'll be alright . . . I promise," he whispered in her ear.
With much effort, Nick carried Barb out of the cab to the guys' shared condo in Orlando. He'd had a four hour flight, and he was tired as hell. Also considering what Kevin would probably do to him after this one, he wasn't in the best of moods.
Hearing the car pull in the drive, Brian perked up. Howie, who was engrossed in a novel, turned to him curiously.
"What, Bri?"
Brian was standing up now, staring at the door. "Nick. He's home."
AJ sulked into his room upstairs after a long shower. His hair was dripping and he had a towel tied around his slim waist. He wasn't feeling well and the bite marks were just beginning to heal. Kevin's potent blood had done the trick saving his life, but now the hard part was finding the strength to heal the fang and claw wounds himself. He sighed as he thought of the fight they'd had a little over an hour ago. Kevin and he were pushing each other away. After all these years. They were finally going their own ways. Partially because AJ was a full grown Gangrel now and also the fact that the farther AJ got from Kevin emotionally, the tighter Kevin got his hold on him, fearing he'd leave. They weren't equals anymore, and to AJ, they never had been. All because of Kevin's powerful grasp - it was almost suffocating, the way he held them all under his thumb. But they had all agreed he should be the leader, and so, he'd filled the role, a little too well actually.
While he thought of this, he dug roughly through a drawer full of boxers, searching for his most comfortable pair. He stopped when he heard the tires on the gravel outside. Dropping everything, he went to the window, thinking it was Kevin. But instead, he saw Nick... carrying a body. AJ sighed, as if expeting this to have happened.
He flew down the stairs, holding onto the towel tightly.
"What the hell has that ass got?" AJ asked the other two who were already waiting near the door. The Gangrel came up behind them, pushing and shoving his tow brothers to get a view.
"Come on guys! Let him in!" Brian barked, backing up.
The door opened and Nick held it ajar with his knee. All eyes were on the bundle wrapped in a sheet in his arms. No one knew what to say as they realized what he had. They didn't move to help either.
"Um... hello?!" he hissed. They held the door and let him pass. He laid the body on the floor with excessive care, slowly peeling back the thin fabric covering her face.
"HOLY SHIT!!! IT'S A GIRL!!" AJ roared, laughing in disbelief.
"Bone, would shut the hell up?!" Nick snarled. He stopped laughing and coughed into his fist, clearing his throat. Brian leaned down next to his friend who was examining her neck. Her long chocolate brown hair fell all around her face, framing her head like an aura. She was nicely figured, not flawless, but attractive none the less. But her face was exceptionally beautiful. She was featured evenly, with huge eyes (which were closed), a small nose, and cupid's bow lips. Exquisite.
"She is hot, Kaos. Is she turned?" Brian questioned.
"No. I couldn't do it, man. I couldn't kill her," he started, getting choked up. His pale face was tear-streaked and sad. "I think she's dying..."
Howie pushed the blonde aside and gently felt her throat with soft fingers.
"Oh Nicky... I dunno if she'll make it... Feel this Bri," he said solemnly, grabbing Brian's hand and placing it on her neck.
Brian furrowed his brow in concentration. He shook his head slowly. "I've never felt a pulse that weak. I'm surprised she made the flight down, Nick."
"You sucked her dry!" AJ said, smiling proudly. "That's my boy!" He patted Nick on the back, congratulating him.
"SHUT UP!!!" Nick replied loudly, scaring the Gangrel with his temper. "D, help her. Please," he said passionately to Howie.
Howie stared back at the Toreador, a hopeless look on his face. "Nicky, I..."
Nick's icy blue eyes melted with more tears, pleading. "Please? God, I couldn't. I couldn't do it. She... I love her 'cuz she's alive. She's not like me. Please, save her!" he cried hysterically. Howie looked away, fearing Nick's gaze as it bore into his face. He felt there was nothing he could do. Nick whimpered and sobbed. Brian frowned, hating to see his friend in such pain.
"Shhh," AJ said suddenly, breaking the silence as he brought a finger to his lips. "What's that?"
A car door closed loudly in the drive.
"Kevin," Howie said, the name coming out as more of a gasp than anything else.
Nick choked, his pain wiped away with fear. "Omigod. What am I gonna do, Bri?"
Brian said nothing as he waited, afraid to move.
They all watched the door in terror. It's lock clicked as it opened.
"Oh shit...," AJ mumbled as Kevin stepped in. The guys stared up at him, all eyes wide.
He took one look at the body and then at them.
"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE???!!!"
