Chapter 6

The next morning, Ashley woke up and looked at the clock. 11 am.

"Shit" she thought as she went to the bathroom. She now remembered that Nick was going to pick her up at any moment. They were going to spend the day together.

"Okay, Ashley" she said looking at herself in the mirror. "You can control yourself. Nick is your friend and Yvette is your best friend. You can't do anything" she reassured herself again and again. "This was going to be a long day" she thought.

Fifteen minutes later, she heard a tap on the door.

"Coming!" she shouted from the bathroom, putting her clothes on as fast as she could.

"Well, hurry up!" she heard from outside. She recognized Nick's voice and smiled. Then, she closed her eyes and reassured herself once again.

"Nothing is going to happen and nothing will happen" As soon as she opened the door, she saw Nick dressed in a white shirt with some jeans.

"Hey" Nick said, getting her out of her trance.

"Morning" she said with a smile, inviting him in.

"You ready to go?"

"Of course… let me grab my things"

After going through a pile of clothes, she chose to wear a sleeveless black shirt with a peach colored skirt and some black sandals. Her hair was pulled in a ponytail and she had a minimum amount of make up on.

"You look nice" Nick said with his signature smile.

"Thanks, you do too… I'm thinking that I'm a little bit overdressed for the occasion"

"You look fine. Besides, you don't know where I'm going to take you"

She nodded with a smile but didn't say a word.

"Let's go" she said grabbing her arm and going out of the room.

On the way to the restaurant, she didn't say a word, which preoccupied Nick a little since she was the kind of girl who would talk nonstop.

"Is something wrong, Ash?"

"Nope… everything's fine" she said with a smile.

"You don't fool me missy" he grinned as he looked over at her.

"Nothing… I'm just thinking about some things"

"Can I know?"

"Not right now, Nick. I'm trying to forget about them"

Nick shrugged. "Okay then"

When they got to the restaurant, he opened her door as the gentleman he was and led her in. After they got to their table, he looked at her andtook her hands in his, something that made Ashley look at him intently and blush at the same time.

"What's wrong?" Nick said, breaking the silence that she brought.

"Nick, there's nothing wrong…" she said trying to get away from his grip but at the same time, longing for him to hold her.

Nick kept looking at her. She became more and more nervous. After a couple of seconds, Ashley grabbed his face and kissed him on the lips. "I know I'll regret this so much" she thought.

After she let him go, Nick looked at her wide eyed and with his mouth slightly open.

"W-what did you just do, Ash?"

Ashley closed her eyes and tucked her hair behind her ear.

"I'm sorry" she whispered, looking down.

Nick sat there, stunned nonetheless.

"Ashley, I'm trying to be nice here… and all you can do is kiss me? I mean, I – I'm married… I love my wife and you do this?"

Ashley had her eyes glued to the table and she didn't plan on divert them any time soon.

"Ashley, look at me" Nick demanded.

"Why?" she said, still looking down.

"Just… look at me" Nick said, as he lifted her chin w/ his hand.

Ashley looked up and tears were coming down from her eyes. As Nick saw this, he took her in his arms for a hug.

"What did you just do Ashley?" Nick whispered.

"I'm sorry, Nick…" was all that she could say.

"But… why?"

Ashley got away from his grip and looked at him seriously. "I like you, Nick..I've always have...that's why"
