Chapter 2

Amazed by his sudden amount of creativity, Nick smiled to himself, putting the last touches to his surprise for Yvette. The cabin was delicately adorned with flowers, candles and incense. The lights were dimmed, and slow music was playing in the background. Nick walked over to their bed and put one single red rose on the middle of it. It wasn't any special occasion per se but he felt that all this was his special gift that would make his lady happy. He walked over to the kitchen and put the finishing touches on their meal: lasagna.

"Who knew I could cook?" Nick said with a smirk as he took one last look to what he called his 'delicious masterpiece'.

Minutes later, he went to check on himself, combing his hair with his hands and straightening his buttoned blue shirt. It was going to be a night to remember.

"Now, Yve would never want to go out of this room" he grinned.

A couple of minutes later, he heard the doorknob twist and the door of the cabin flew open. When Yvette went inside, she gasped, mesmerized at the beauty of the room. She started walking towards the room, inspecting every single thing that Nick made for her. Her eyes started looking for Nick but she didn't seem to find him. Sighing and with a smile plastered across her face, she went towards the balcony of the cabin and grinned, watching Nick slightly arched over the railing. She opened the sliding door that led to the balcony and wrapped her arms around him.

"This is beautiful" she whispered kissing his neck. Nick turned around and took her in his arms. "You ain't seen nothing yet, baby"

"I'm scared now" she said with a worried look.

"C'mon" he replied, taking her hand in his and leading her to the kitchen.

When they got there, she gasped at the sight. Two plates of lasagna were neatly placed on the table lit by two red candles.

"Baby, this is great" Yvette said, a wide smile plastered across her face.

Nick closed his eyes and hugged her. "Everything for you" he whispered kissing her neck.

Yvette put her hands no the back of his neck, drawing him to her and kissing him passionately. His hands started roaming around her back as she kissed his neck passionately.

"Honey..." Nick said, pulling away from her breathlessly.

"Hm?" Yvette answered, roaming her hands through his hair and back.

"As much as I want to do this, I spent a lot of time working on this" he replied, pointing to the beautifully adorned table.

"I'm sorry, sweetie" she whined with a smile. He took her hand in his

"Let's go eat" he finally concluded with a grin.

Halfway through their dinner, they were still pretty silent. It was a comfortable silence though. Yvette took this time to study her husband carefully. She felt that everything was going perfectly, the way that it should. She never felt this way before. She loved him, with his virtues and defects, but something was not completely right. Everything was too perfect. Too perfect to be true.

"Nick, we gotta call back home" Yvette said out of the blue.

Nick looked up from his plate and smiled to her. "Is something wrong?"

She shook her head quickly. "No, it's just that we haven't called"

"Alright then, when we finish here, we'll call" he replied, smiling warmly at her.

Yvette kept eating, shrugging everything off. When they finished eating, they went to call their families just like Nick promised. After they called Yvette's parents, they proceeded to call to Nick's house.

"Hello?"

"Hey Leslie" Nick answered with a grin.

"Hey bro... Look, I gotta run, Jake is waiting for me outside" she replied quickly, referring to her boyfriend who was patiently waiting for her outside.

"Alright, put me with Mom then"

"Mom's not home. She took your kids to the park. Dad's not home either. I think Aaron is upstairs... AARON!!!"

Nick took the phone away from his ear and rolled his eyes. A couple of seconds later, Aaron took the phone.

"Hey bro!" he said perkily.

"Hey Aaron... is anybody else home besides you?"

"Hillary is"

"Did Mom leave you alone with your girlfriend??" Nick couldn't believe this.

"Nick... I'm not 15 anymore... I'm 18 years old... an adult" he answered, defensively.

"Riiiiight"

"Don't start" Aaron warned.

"Alright, alright" Nick rolled his eyes once again. He couldn't help worrying about his little brother.

"How's the cruise?" Aaron said, trying to change the theme of conversation.

"It's awesome!" Nick said with a grin.

"Put me with Yve" he suddenly replied.

"Why?"

"Because I want to talk to my bestest friend in the whole world"

Yvette and Aaron developed a great friendship ever since they first met. She helped him with everything he asked her for. One particular time, Aaron was extremely hurt by his 2 year girlfriend, Hillary. She had cheated on him with his best friend. He spent a whole week trying to get advice from Yvette, since she was 6 years older than him. Two weeks after that, they got back together. Aaron felt like he owed her; that's why he brought Nick on the road with him for the remaining of the tour. Thanks to Aaron, Yvette knew Nick, and she was solely grateful to him for that. She had been Aaron's tour manager and sound production manager for his last tour, something that she took on after she lost her former boyfriend to cancer. That's when she met Nick and everything in her life changed for the better.

"Aaron! It's time for you to get changed, for God's sake! The concert is going to start in half an hour!" Yvette shouted, entering his dressing room in a rush. Aaron looked at her playfully and smiled.

"What?" she inquired, with her hands on her hips.

"You look cute when you're angry" he grinned. Yvette rolled her eyes and patted his butt. "Hurry up" she said, ushering him to get ready.

"I love you too!" he shouted from the bathroom.

Yvette rolled her eyes once again and opened the door of the dressing room, knocking out whoever was at the other side.

"Oh my God!" Yvette said putting her hand on her mouth. "I'm so sorry! Did I hurt you? Oh God… I'm really truly sorry" she rambled.

"It's okay… don't worry… I was just going to surprise my brother" he said, standing up and looking at her. He extended her hand to her and smiled.

"Nick Carter, Aaron's brother… nice to meet you"

She was completely fascinated with his blue eyes. "N-nice to meet you too" she stammered.

"I hope we see each other around" he said with the famous Carter grin.

Yvette looked at him and smiled. "I hope so too…" she finally said, turning her back to him and getting her walkie talkie out. "Guys, check the stage and lights once again… we're almost ready to go"

"Why do you want to talk to MY wife?" Nick insisted.

"Because I don't want to talk to you, get it?" Aaron said getting mockingly annoyed.

"Great... I'm your brother and you want to talk to MY wife" Nick replied sarcastically.

"Exactly" Aaron said with a wide grin.

After Nick finally gave up, he called Yvette.

"Aaron!" Yvette said though the phone.

"What's up, babe?"

"Nothing much... hanging out"

"Hanging out, having sex, hanging out, right?"

"Aaron!" Yvette chuckled.

"Hey, you can't fool me, big sis"

"Well..." se said sitting down on the bed and making sure that Nick wasn't around. "If I don't get pregnant here, I don't think I'll ever be!"

Aaron laughed. "I bet you are having a great time then..."

"Great time"

Yvette lied on the bed and smiled to herself. "So, what's been up with you?"

"Well..." Aaron sighed. "I've been hanging out with Hillary a lot... I love her so much" he gushed. "You know, I think she's the one"

"Are you serious?"

"Yup" he said simply. Yvette smiled to herself. He had definitely grown up.

"Have you talked to your mom about it?"

"Are you crazy?!?" he shouted over the phone.

"Okay okay... wrong question... I'm not going to ask then..." she smiled.

"Alright then"

After a few seconds of silence, Aaron sighed. "You know Yve... I'm really happy... for the first time in my life, I'm truly happy"

"That's great Aaron... but be careful though... Don't give yourself too fast, wait until the right moment"

"We haven't had sex, if that's what you're implying"

"No... I'm not exactly implying anything. I'm just telling you to be careful, so that you don't get hurt. Sometimes, you love a person too much and he or she does something really bad and you end up hurting twice as much"

"Has that happened to you?" Aaron inquired.

Yvette nodded. "Yup, I had an ex boyfriend after the one who died and he cheated on me. I had to break up with him cause one thing that I can't stand is a person who cheats on me."

"Hey, don't talk about that part, okay?" Aaron replied sweetly" The only thing that matters is that you and Nick are happy"

"Yeah" she mumbled softly.

"Well girl... I'm going to leave you now. Call me when you guys get here"Aaron said with a smile on his face.

"Alrighty then, I'll talk to you later. Talk to Hillary about what youtalked to me. But have in mind what I told you, okay?"

"Okay then, thanks again Yve"

"No problem, honey... Love ya! Talk to you later"

"Love you too, bye!"

Yvette smiled to herself as she hung up the phone and looked around the cabin for Nick.

"Nick!"

"Huh?" he said, popping his head out of the kitchen.

Yvette smiled and walked towards him hugging him.

"Your brother didn't want to talk to you"

"I know!" he said with a smile, rolling his eyes.

"He trusts you more than me!"

"Hey, don't say that"

"It's the truth!"

"Don't whine, Nick"

"I'm not whining!" he said, of course, whining.

"See??" she laughed as he kissed him.

"I'm sorry" he replied with a pout.

"Don't do that" she said, pouting too, Nick smiled leaning over and kissing her while she ran her hands through his hair.

"Can we go back to our 'date'?" Nick asked in a husky voice.

"Of course!" she replied, locking her lips with his and kissing him passionately. Nick's hand went from her neck to her lower back and inside her shirt, making her moan softly. Nick smiled to himself and pulled the shirt out from her while she started unbuttoning his.

"Don't get me pregnant" she said in between kisses.

"I wont, don't worry" he said as he pulled apart from her with a smile.

"Thank you for everything, baby" Yvette said with a smile. "Everything was beautiful and the lasagna was great. You're a great cook! You sure didn't tell me that you could cook, while we were dating.

Nick started laughing.

"What?"

Nick kept laughing.

"What? What did I say?" Yvette asked without a clue.

"I have something to tell you"

"What's up?"

"I didn't make the lasagna" Nick replied with a sheepish smile.
