Chapter 14

Yvette couldn't believe what Nick was doing. How could he be kissing her? After all these years? After everything that happened? Immediately, she pushed him away, searching his eyes for an explanation. Nick only looked at her without saying a word.

"What do you think you're doing? You have absolutely no right over me now. It's been too long, Nick… and honestly, I don't feel the same"

Nick shook his head. "I refuse to believe it"

"Well, start believing it… If you want to have a father/daughter relationship with Andrea you can… I'm not going to put any strains on you for that"

"Yvette, you can't put any strains on me to see my daughter"

Yvette stood silent, knowing that he was right.

"Nothing is going to happen between us, Nick… I won't let it" Yvette answered confidently.

"Fine, whatever, Yvette…" Nick said, throwing his arms in the air, as he turned around to leave. Then, he turned back around to face her. "I almost forgot, I moved out here… I'm bought a house here in Puerto Rico to be near you and Andrea. I came with the purpose of getting back together with you, but since I know that's not going to happen, I'm going to stay here because of my daughter"

"Okay… I won't have any problem with that" Yvette answered coldly, sitting back on her chair and looking though her documents.

"When did you become so cold and indifferent?" Nick asked, sifting through the contents of his backpack.

Yvette looked up. "It's not your problem, Nick" she almost whispered.

"Oh right, I have nothing to do with you now" he taunted.

Yvette closed her eyes and looked down. "Look, I don't want to talk about anything that pertains us or our relationship. It's over now… and we're divorced and-" she stopped, looking at the papers that Nick put on her desk. Apprehensively, Yvette looked at them and looked back at Nick.

"What's this?"

"It's our divorce papers… They're not signed by me" Nick said simply as he took a deep breath. "I didn't do anything with the papers… We're not divorced, Yvette" he finished, leaving her alone with her thoughts and feelings about what he just confessed.

Walking through the Luis Muñoz Marín Airport in Puerto Rico, Ashley put her sunglasses over her head and smiled widely. This was her first step to her plan on winning Nick forever. She knew that Nick bought the first house he found, so she had to go on and do the same, so that she could watch every step they both made. She was definitely surprised that Yvette had a little girl, who was Nick's, but she wasn't worried about that. In fact, she was happy that they're daughter existed. It would be much easier that way because that little girl, Andrea, was the one that she was going to use to win back Nick and destroy Yvette for once and for all.
