Chapter 12

One week later...

"Mommy! Mommy! Mommy Vette!!!" Andrea screamed loudly.

Yvette rose up from her seat in the kitchen and desperately ran to Andrea's room to see what was wrong. When she entered her room, she saw Andrea standing there with a big grin.

Yvette sighed in relief. "Don't ever do that to Mommy again, Andrea"

"I'm sorry, Mommy" she said, still grinning. "Just wanted to pwaaaaay with you"

"But, don't scream like that honey. Mommy gets scared, okay?"

She nodded as she plopped down on the floor. "Alrighty" she giggled.

"What did you want?"

"Play!" she screamed as loud as she could.

"Andrea!" Yvette scolded.

Andrea looked at Yvette with her puppy eyes. Every time she did that, Yvette was reminded of Nick. "I'm sowwy"

Yvette nodded and sat down across from her. "Okay" she finally said, grabbing a Barbie and starting to comb her hair.

A few minutes later, Andrea looked up from what she was doing and looked at Yvette. "Momma?"

"Yeah, sweetie?"

"Where's Daddy?"

Yvette closed her eyes and sighed. "I don't know baby. I don't know where Daddy is"

"Do you hate him?"

"Of course not" she said with a smile. "He's your Daddy, I can't hate him"

"Do you love him?"

"He's your Dad, Andrea" was all Yvette could say.

Andrea looked down and sighed. "Is he okay, Mommy?"

"I don't know sweetheart. I haven't talked to him"

"Why not?"

"Because I don't have his phone number"

"Okay" was all Andrea could say, as tears covered her big green eyes.

Yvette put all her things on the floor and took Andrea in her arms. "I'm sorry, sweetie" she whispered. "I'm sorry it had to be this way" she said, tears streaming down her cheeks too, as she hugged her.

"I want to see my, Daddy" Andrea sobbed, holding onto Yvette's shirt.

"I know honey, I know"

As soon as Yvette said that, Andrea got out of her arms and went straight to the TV. She rummaged through her movies and she picked one. "I wanna see the movie"

"Okay, sweetie" Yvette said, getting up from where she was and popping the movie inside the VCR. As soon as she pressed `play', Nick's image came through the screen, as Andrea smiled lightly. Yvette had recorded a lot of Nick's appearances from 3 years ago for Andrea to see as much as she wanted. Somehow, she had to know who her Dad was, and since she couldn't get a hold of him, at least she had that, so that Andrea could get to know him. Yvette didn't want to get back with Nick though. She was fully concentrated on her daughter for now, and if someday Nick was back, she would be happy for him to be a part of Andrea's life, but not to be a part her life.

A few minutes later, the phone rang. "I'll take it, Mommy" Andrea said, running towards the telephone. "Hello!" she answered, her tone perky as always. "Uh huh. Momma, for you" she finally said.

Yvette took the phone from her and smiled.

"Hello?... yeah, today? Alright, then. I'll see what I can do. Okay then, I'll be there. Okay, bye" she responded, slamming down the phone, when she finished.

"Shit, shit, shit"

"Momma! What did I tell you about bad words??"

Andrea reprimanded with her little hands on her hips.

"I'm sorry, sweetie. Let's get you dressed up. I have to go to work for a while"

"Can't I stay with Auntie Val?"

"No, honey. She's on a trip"

"And with Carla?" Andrea asked, referring to her baby sitter.

"Carla is not here in Puerto Rico either"

Andrea snapped her fingers and frowned. "Shmucks!"

"I'm sorry, baby" she said, getting her dressed up to take her to work with her.

Ashley was back in Florida planning everything that she was going to do. She sat down on Nick's bed and took his pillow and smelled it. She grinned widely thinking about the things that Nick didn't know about her and Yvette and how their 'friendship' had gone downhill. After she kissed Nick that time, she started falling in love with him and thinking about how he was attracted to her at first and then he met Yvette and married her. She thought she was being too lenient in letting Nick go with Yvette. Now, she regretted it a lot, so very much. She thought that Yvette was being selfish because she knew that she liked Nick, but she got together with him anyway. She felt that Yvette betrayed her again and again. Right now, she was not going to let Nick get away from her. Now, that they broke up,now that he was, hypothetically speaking, a free man. That's why she had been telling a lot of bad stuff to Nick about Yvette and how she supposedly told her that she didn't want to get back to him. She figured that Nick would be depressed for some time, but that's why she was there. To console him, to be his partner, to be his lover and to be everything that he wanted her to be. She knew that it was going to be a hard task, but she knew that she could accomplish anything that she aimed for.

Before Ashley moved out and changed her phone numbers and cell phone numbers, Yvette had called her once. She smiled to herself, going back to the last time that she and Yvette had talked.

"Hello?"

"Hey, Ash" Yvette responded.

"Oh, hey" Ashley said coldly.

"How have you been doing? It's been over six months that we haven't talked"

"Don't come with any bullshit. Why did you do it, Yvette?" Ashley started.

"Do what?"

"Everything you did with AJ"

"I didn't do anything with AJ. How can you take Nick's side, if you didn't listen to my side of the story? You're supposed to be my best friend too"

"Well, I hate to break it to you, Yvette, but I don't want to see you ever again, and I would love it if you don't see Nick again either"

"Who are you, to tell me what to do?" Yvette retorted angrily.

"I'm the person that took you away from Nick. Just like you once did to me. Because if you remember well, Nick liked ME before he liked YOU. Nick loves me, not you. So, get over it and get on with your life." she said simply.

"W-what do you mean, Ashley?"

"Nick and I did more things than the ones he told you about. He just found out that I was better in bed than you and he loves what I give to him. Obviously, something you couldn't give in the months you were married"

"Oh, you just didn't say that"

"You bet I did, bitch"

"What has possessed you to hate me so much?"

"The fact that you married MY man"

"He was never your man, Ashley"

"We'll see about that"

"You know what? You can have him, we broke up"

"Well, I would love it, if you didn't call him or look for him again"

"I have no desire to look for him, Ashley"

"Okay then, I guess this conversation is over"

"Be careful what you wish for" Yvette taunted.

"Are you threatening me?"

"I'm just saying" Yvette shrugged lightly.

"Don't you ever threaten me again or else"

"Or else, what?"

"You'll have your share, Yvette. Be careful" Ashley said as she hung up the phone.

Coming back to reality, Ashley smiled to herself. 'She should've stayed away from Nick for good. I'm not going to lose him now. I guess it's payback time' she thought to herself, lying down on Nick's bed and falling into a deep dream.

As soon as Yvette got to the office, she threw her things on the nearest chair and turned to Andrea.

"Baby, Ally is going to take you out to lunch, since you didn't eat anything at home" she informed, referring to her secretary.

"Yay! I'm going to go with Ally!" she jumped up and down as Yvette laughed.

"Be good sweetheart. Take care of her, Ally!"

"Don't worry about it. She'll be fine" Ally smiled as Andrea grinned.

"Gimme a kiss" Yvette said to Andrea picking her up.

"I love you, Momma" Andrea replied, hugging and kissing her mom.

"I love you too, baby. Be good"

"Okay" she giggled, getting out of her arms and turning to Ally who took her outside the office. She then sighed, and sat down to work. An hour later, she heard a soft knock on the door and she looked at her watch. 'Ally shouldn't be here yet. They said they were going to eat and they were going to the park' she thought to herself.

"Come in!" she said, still looking at her papers.

"Hi, Yvette"

Yvette literally froze, as she slowly darted her eyes from the papers to the person standing in front of her. Her jaw dropped open.

"N-Nick?"

He smiled lightly, as he took a few steps towards her desk. "Hey"

"W-what are you doing here?" Yvette managed to say, getting up from her chair.

"A week or two ago, I talked to Steph and she told me that you were here"

"Why did you come?"

"I just wanted to know about you. Your sister told me about Mom. I'm really sorry I wasn't there, Yve" he explained, talking about Emma.

She shrugged. "It's okay, I've moved on"

"Are you sure you're okay?" Nick said, walking towards her.

"I'm perfectly fine" she said, avoiding his glare.

"Then, what are you trying to hide there?" Nick said, noticing that she was taking a picture frame out of her desk. It was actually a picture of Andrea when she was a baby.

Their conversation was interrupted by a chill scream.

"Momma! We saw a doggie and and Ally said that we could keep it! Can I keep it, Mom? Pwease!!" Andrea said, entering the office and going straight to Yvette's arms, leaving Nick in shock, and making him think about what he had missed in the last 4 years.
