He couldn't believe it. He redused to accpet what he was hearing. Out of all the things his father had done to him, this was the worst. "Are you serious?" Nick asked.
Charles nodded. "We're moving to Malibu."
"How exciting!" His mom exclaimed.
"But why?"
Charles' law firm uprooted to California, as a partner it was his obligation to follow. "Look out West Coast, here come the Carters!" Both his parents laughed.
Nick failed to see what was so funny. The idea of moving across the country didn't make him too happy. "What about school?"
His dad raised an eyebrow. Since when had his son been so interested in school? "We're moving in July, you'll be done with eigth grade by then."
"Wonderful." Mary looked at Nick.
"You wont be the only new student went you go to your new school. Other kids will be starting freshman year too, It should make it easier for you to make new friends."
New friends? He didn't knew friends, he liked his old friends just fine, especially Georgina. He had always been just a friend to her but freshman year was supposed to be different. He was somewhat of a dork, but he was supposed to start working out in the Summer and then try out for the football team. Maybe as a jock Georgina would notice him...but with his moving that would be more than impossible.

The noise outside woke him. He'd slept the whole ride from the airport. As the blurr in his eyes decipitated he saw that he was at their new home. A home he hated yet it was also a home that seemed very much familiar to him, almost as if he'd been there before. Nick shook the feeling off and made his way inside.
"Don't be lazy! get your stuff out of the car!" Charles yelled at him.
Nick realized that indeed was empty handed. He went back to the car to get his lugague and made his way back to the house. Charles was telling him to wait in the living room.
When Nick walked inside he got the deja vu feeling again. He'd been in there before, he'd seen those walls, the stair case, the floor before....The stairs, they called out to him somehow. He was compelled to go up.He walked about the hallway, peeking into every room until he found his room. He knew it was his, he felt it was his.
It was completely empty . The white wall bare. The only decoration was the view of the ocean. At least there was one good thing about moving to Malibu, he loved the ocean.

"No daddy, please don't!"
Her voiced rang in his ear. They ran side by side. Their feet squishing the wet sand, the cold salt water periodically chilling their feet as the waves hit the shore.
A loud bang sounded and a sharp pain pierced his back. He slowed down, his hand slipping from hers. He fell to his knees and she stopped running to face him. Before the blackness came, he stared into her violet eyes and told her run.

With a deep breath he woke up, sweat beeding dow his forehead. He licked his dry lips and took another deep breath.
That was the most vivid dream he's ever had. It hardly seemed like a dream at all. For a moment he thought he really was going to die.
