Nick sat with his head in his hands. His girlfriend Rachel had just broke up with him. AJ was sitting behind him.
"Bone, why can't I just find one girl, just one girl that would love me for me, and not because I can get them a recording contract," He asked close to tears.
"Because your a Backstreet Boy, and nothing can change that," AJ stood up and brushed off his baggy black jeans. "Come on man, my mom wants me to pick up Hallie, " AJ stuck out his hand to help Nick up off of the Mclean's back porch.
"Hallie?" Nick asked straightening out his blue shirt.
"Yeah remember, my mom adopted a 17 year old girl. Well, I have to pick her up at the airport today, I don't even know what she looks like," AJ laughed as they made their way down the stairs, out the door, and into AJ's new black pick up truck, he named it Seria.
An hour later they were standing in the airport in front of gate A-72 coming in from Pittsburgh PA.
"Where is she?" AJ sighed. As if on cue a tall blonde girl tapped him on his shoulder. AJ and Nick thought she was just another fan. "We're sorry we can't give you an autograph right now, so just forget you seen us," AJ said politely.
The girl rolled her brown eyes. "Why would I want an autograph from you two, you don't look famous to me," She said in a cocky attitude.
"You mean you don't know who we are?" Nick asked shyly. He hardly ever found a pretty girl like her, that didn't know him, "I don't know you, but I know him, can you please take me home now," she begged AJ.
AJ smiled, " Hallie, right?" he asked, walking ahead of her towards the truck.
"Yeah, what gave you that clue?". She slung a yellow duffel back over her shoulder.
As Nick trailed behind he looked her over. She was wearing tight black bell bottom pants, the kind that don't have zippers. A white short sleeved belly shirt revealed a tan thin stomach. Her blonde hair hung over her shoulders and had a light curl. Nice, he thought, too bad she doesn't act nice. He sighed and climbed into the truck, putting Hallie in the middle.
On the ride home , Hallie actually made conversation. "So, why were you guys surprised when I didn't know who you were," she asked, looking in the rear view mirror. She knew perfectly well who they were, she just figured she'd play along.
"We are famous world wide," Nick said.
"How? Are you known as the dumbwitts or something?" Hallie asked. Hallie knew how rude she was being, she wanted to keep it that way. She did not want to get hurt again, by another famous guy. She had once dated Justin Timberlake of Nsync, he had dumped her the day after he found out she was pregnant with his child. He then started going out with Britney Spears. But she wasn't sure of his status now. And frankly she didn't care. Her two year old Daughter Erin was living with Hallie's best friend Kelly up in Pittsburgh. She was going to stay their until Hallie was out of school, had a good job and a nice home, with a possible male figure around to play the role of daddy.
"We are the Backstreet Boys," AJ replied pulling into the driveway of a really big, nice white house.
"Oh, that's great," she rolled her eyes and practically threw Nick out of the truck. "Get out of my way," she said. She didn't realize that hot tears were threatening. Butterflies were swarming in her stomach. She felt awful for treating him this way, mostly because, from the moment she saw him walk over to the gate, she was in love. Quickly she grabbed her yellow bag and followed the guys in the house.
