Having agreed to meet the others down at the beach, Brian and I had stopped by the local park to shoot some hoops and now we were headed for the beach.

"Great day for the beach. Looks like the volleyball court's already in use, but we can always have a game later"

“And endure another battle with you? I think not. I'm more up for some surf... you up for it?"

"Sure. Why not?"

As we walk past the courts, I watch a few guys and a couple of girls play. I turn to Brian.

"Great idea, to see two girls playing volleyball in their bikinis"

"Are you always thinking with your hormones?"

"Most of the time, yeah"

Rolling my eyes at him, thinking that he'll never grow up, I spied at spot to ditch our towels.

"Let's do this..." and started jogging towards the water

Before I reached the water, I suddenly stopped. The girls that Nick had seen, were actually Charlie and her friend Natalie. I couldn't believe it at first but it was them all right. I could see Charlie talking with some guy. Maybe ,she knows him, but then again he does look like he could be competition. I know that we are not actually in a steady relationship yet but, it was kinda weird seeing her with another guy

"Hey, you know those girls that you were drooling over? Well.. you already know 'em"

"Yeah, I kinda figured...I know a lot of women"

"Yes... I know..." in a more stern voice.."But take a closer look at the brunette.. She look rather familiar to ya?"

I begin to shake my head, laughing

Wow, you have a good mem.." I stop mid sentence as I see the girls Brian's going on about. Omg, it's Natalie and Charlie...with some guys! Woah, what the hell?

"I don't believe this...what's going on?"

"Looks to me like they're talking..." in a sarcastic voice

"They're doing more than that" I say taking a deep breath. I watch as Natalie and this other guy both go for the ball and they end up falling over each other whilst some guy casually puts his arm Charlie and they laugh

I looked back over at them and saw that some guy had his arm around Charlie, and they seemed to be laughing. My muscles began to tense a little as I watched them. I kept telling myself that I shouldn't be jealous. Not that it made any difference anyway. I felt what I felt. What can I say. I liked her.. I liked her a lot.

"I see it... but I can't be jealous... I mean.. we're not technically in a relationship... so.."

I look at Brian in disbelief

"Well, I''m not technically in a relationship with Natalie but I'm damned if I'm gonna let anyone else have her"

"Well, I don't like seeing her with other guys but what am I supposed to do about it? Say "hey, I really like you and we've been dating for a while now and oh by the way I don't want you seeing anyone else...? Right.. .she's liable to smack me in the face!"

"Well, yeah, you do. You make it official...I'm hoping to have that conversation with Natalie"

"I thought you said that she wasn't interested?"

"Well, I have to give it a shot or I'll never know"

“True.. but come on, let's go, before we do something stupid"

"No way...I wanna find out what's going on with them" I say as their apparent game finishes and yet they're still lingering

"Why are they still talking? The game is over"

“Well, aren't we jealous.. Why don't you just go walk over there and ask them.."laughing

“Yeah, of course I'll go over and ask them...but I know the answer. 'hey we were only letting two random guys check us out in our bikinis...oh and we also exchanged numbers'" I pause

"Looks like that's already happened"

"What? Really?" turning then towards the girls.

“Well if so, then we got us some competition… and you know what we got do right?….”

"Definitely...I don't wanna let Natalie slip through my fingers"

“Well, we will have plenty of time to put our heads together later, but lets hit the waves while we still have time. “
