Chapter 5

"Did you tell those two girls downstairs that we were gonna be here?" Nick stormed in, as I hung up a red dress in a closet.

"No, they asked who I was, and-" I explained, but Nick cut me off, and paced back and forth, almost burning a hole in the rug, he was going so fast.

"Because there are about 500 fans down in the lobby, and there isn't a snowballs chance in hell that we're gonna get out of this hotel alive, and to the concert!" Nick yelled.

"Why the hell are you yelling at me? It isn't my fault!" I hollered back.

"The hell it isn't! You told them we were here!!" he shrieked, and grabbed a Mountain Dew bottle of the dresser and threw it down on the floor. It made a dull thump, and rolled softly to a corner.

"Would you just stop for a f*cking second? You don't even know what the hell you're talking about!" I ran out into the hallway, and into Allie's room, and shut the door in Nick's face.

Allie looked up, startled to see me standing in her doorway, and Nick pounding on the door. She looked up questionably, and said, "What's the matter, Lauren?"

My shoulders heaved as I walked up to her, and we sat down on her bed. I sobbed on her shoulder, and she kept whispering, "Shhhh…it's okay, It's okay."

I let Lauren sob on my shoulder, and listened to Nick stomp down the hall, probably to Brian's room. I didn't know what they were fighting about, but I could hear muffled yells seconds before Lauren ran in. I sighed, and hugged her. "You wanna talk about it?" I asked when she finally sat up.

I leaned over and grabbed a tissue of the nightstand, and she grabbed it thankfully, and said, "Nick's just a big ass sometimes. He'll just go crazy for a second, and yell and scream, and then he'll run off to Brian to find out what he should do next. I just wish he wasn't so….so….I don't know," she finished, and looked at me with her sad blue eyes.

"Nick's just busy right now…he's still a kid in a lot of ways….he's got a lot of things going on, and it's the beginning of the tour, so everyone's gonna be on edge for a while. Don't worry about it," I soothed her, and she plucked a stray string off the bed.

"Yeah…I guess. Thanks Al."

I stood up, and pushed her towards the bathroom door. "No problem…now go take a shower, because we have a show to go to!" She laughed weakly and went into the bathroom.

I sat down on the bed, and sighed. Round One had already started.

"Brian, man, can I come in?" I asked as I barged into his room.

"Sure I guess," he said as he looked up from the TV he was watching. "What's the matter?" he asked seeing my frown.

"I just blew up at Lauren. I don't even know why…" I shook my head, forgetting he was in the room, as the scene replayed itself out in my mind. "Guess I should go apologize to her, uh?" I asked, feeling stupid. He rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "Yeah…but she's probably getting ready. To go to the show," he added as an afterthought.

I stood then, and walked out the door. "Thanks Rok." I called over my shoulder.

"No problem," came his muffled reply.

I walked into the room me and Lauren were sharing, and sat down on the bed, and waited for her to come out of the shower.

I got dressed, in jeans, and a white shirt. Nothing fancy, just something to go to the concert in. I brushed my hair, and put it in a ponytail, and walked out of the bathroom. Nick was sitting on the bed, flipping through the TV channels, and didn't even notice I came out. He was just in a zone. But I'd have to cross the room to grab my shoes, and decided to go for it. I hopped on the back of the bed gently, and I was halfway across the bed when Nick leapt back and landed on top of me. I struggled under him, as he kissed me.

"Aggghhhhh…Nick get off of me!" I said, against his lips. He didn't move an inch. "Nick, I can't brea-"

He kissed me again, and said, "I'm sorry." He gave me his trademark puppy dog look, and I laughed.

"Get off me Nick." I put my hands on his chest and tried to sit up. He kissed me again, more deeply this time. He put his arms on the bed, lifting himself off of me some.

"I love you." He leaned down and tried to kiss me again, but I turned my head to the side, and his kiss landed on the side of my face.

"You don't act like it, sometimes," I explained, when he looked down at me, confused.

He frowned a bit, and said, "I'm sorry. I just got mad. I do love you." He waited for me to say something.

I leaned up a bit, and kissed him. "Now will you get off?" I asked.

He grinned cheerily, and pecked the top of my nose. He rolled over, and stood up beside the bed. "C'mon. It's about time to go to the show." He grabbed my hand, and we walked into AJ's room.
