Chapter 1

"Laur!" Nick called to me from the back of our house in Tampa, on Saturday night.

"What?" I hollered back from our bedroom, as the wind howled outside the window.

"Where the hell is the dog food for Mikey?" he yelled.

I moaned into his pillow, turned around on my back and said, "We ran out yesterday afternoon, and I didn't pick any up after work."

I listened to his footsteps, until he stood in the doorway. "Oh, so now work is more important than our dog," he stated, watching me as I flicked off the TV in our room.

"Well, Nick, when you put it that way…yeah." I wrapped my arms around his neck, and as he leaned over to wrap his arms around my waist, a lock of his hair brushed against my cheek.

We swayed for a while, dancing to an imaginary song, only the two of us could hear. After a couple of minutes, Nick stood up, and pushed me forward unto the bed. He gently laid on top of me. "Finally…we're all alone," he whispered into my ear, as I unbuttoned his jeans. He slid his hands under my shirt, and he kissed my neck. Then the phone rang.

"Damn it!" he said, as he rolled over to pick up the shrieking phone on the table. "Yeah?" he said roughly into the phone. I heard aimless chatter in the phone, and Nick nodded. "I guess…I'll have to ask her. Hold on." He covered the phone with his hand and turned to me. "Brian, and AJ and their better halves want to know if they can come over here to 'ride out the storm'."

I propped myself up on one elbow. "Sure, I guess. But haven't they been through, like, a hundred tropical storms?"

He nodded and picked up the phone. "Yeah." He started talking to Brian, so I flopped down on the bed again, and played with a string on the bed.

"Oh! Nick, tell Bri he has to bring 'Dirty Dancing', or he can't come in the house," I whispered loudly in his ear. He grinned, and told Brian.

"He says he'll bring it. Now where were we?" He growled playfully, as he slipped off my shirt.

"You know they're going to be here, in a couple of seconds, right?" I said breathlessly, as he kissed my stomach.

He nodded, and I pulled off his shirt. "That's why...we'll be….real fast," came his muffled reply, as he took off my pants.

"You're such a charmer Nickolas."

He glanced up at me and grinned. "I try." I took off his shirt, and ran my hands up and down his back. Then the doorbell rang. "Damn it, to hell," he said as he put back on his clothes, and I ran a brush through his hair. The doorbell rang again, and Nick left to go get it. "Hold On! I'm coming!" he yelled. I buttoned up my pants, and ran a brush through my hair, and followed him, as he opened the door. Allie and Leigh-Anne jumped in the house, as soon as Nick opened the door.

"Damn, Nick, what the hell took you so long?" AJ said as he walked in the door, and flung off his coat. "Don't you know, it's raining like hell out there? My hair probably got messed up." AJ patted his hair, and Nick rolled his eyes.

I walked up to Brian, and cornered him in the doorway. "Where is it Bri?" He grinned, and produced the tape from behind his back. "You girls and your movies. I swear Leigh-Anne watches this every week."

Allie sank down into the Lazy Boy we have, and AJ squished in right with her.

"We watch it just to annoy you, Brian," Leigh-Anne said as she stretched out on a couch.

"It works," he said as he sat on the couch Leigh-Anne was laying at.

Nick laid down on the couch that was directly across from the TV. I think secretly he kind of likes the movie, although he won't admit it. I popped the video in the VCR, and laid down on top of Nick, as the movie started. I put my head on his chest, and wrapped my arms around his waist. We watched the entire movie, and as the song "The Time Of My Life" came on, I whispered to Nick, "Let's dance."

He stood up reluctantly and pulled me to him. No one noticed, until AJ looked at us and laughed. "You two are beyond weird."

Everyone else looked, and Allie said, "AJ…Dance with me, please?" He sighed and danced with her, and pretty soon Leigh-Anne and Bri stood up and danced.

When the movie stopped, AJ said, "Hey. You guys got any food in here? I'm about to starve."

I laughed and Nick snapped, "Does this look like a Seven Eleven?"

Brian nodded slowly. "Yeah…so we'll order pizza."

I rolled my eyes as Leigh-Anne laughed. "Brian, do you think the Pizza Boy is honestly going to deliver in this storm? I'd be surprised if they were even open today."

AJ shook his head knowingly. "I called the Pizza boy in the last storm we had. He delivered my pizza in twenty minutes."

Allie just shrugged, and said, "Call him AJ. They might be open." We all sat back down, as AJ called the Pizza Boy.

A couple of minutes later AJ came back in the room. "They're opened today. I ordered two large cheese pizzas."

Brian looked up , suspiciously. "Delivery?"

"Yeah." We all sat and talked until the Pizza Boy delivered the two large cheese pizzas.
