"I'm telling you that the turn was back there!" Jessica yelled exasperated.
They were trying to get to the movie theater. Nick was driving.
"I think I know where I'm going, alright?!" Nick snapped.
"Fine. Do whatever you want! That's the way it always is, anyhow."
"That's not true. You just happen to be wrong about this. See, here's the movie theater." Nick pulled into the parking lot.
"Yes, but my way was shorter. We could have been here five minutes ago."
"Yeah, right."
"Forget it! The point is we're here." Jessica opened the car door and started to get out, but Nick didn't move. "Are you coming?"
"No!"
She climbed back in and shut the door. "Why not?"
"Because we're arguing again. I'm not going in there mad!"
"What's wrong with us, Nick?" she asked sadly.
"I don't know. We need to go home and talk," he said and started to drive home.
***Change of Scene***
Nick and Jessica arrived at the house. They went into the living room. A.J. was there.
"Hey, Man," Nick said. "Me and Jessica need to talk."
"Oh. Of course," A.J. said.
"Thanks," Nick replied. Then, A.J. left the room.
"Let's sit down," Nick gestured her to the sofa and she sat down beside him.
"Nick, I don't like what's happening between us."
"Neither do I. But, we're not getting along anymore. Maybe we're changing."
"I don't want us to change." Jessica started crying and Nick gave her a hug, holding her. "I'm sorry, Nick. I've just been emotional lately. I keep crying."
"It's okay. But, what do you think we should do about us?"
"Maybe we should kind of part for a while. I don't know."
"Is that what you want?" he asked her.
"Of course not. I just don't know what to do. We keep arguing and sometimes it's pointless."
Nick thought about it for what seemed like an eternity and he realized that she was right. Although he really didn't want them to separate. He wanted them to be together, but it seemed so impossible. Yet, it also seemed impossible for them to be apart.
"I don't know what I'll do without you," he said.
"Nick, right now, I honestly think it's the best decision. We can part for a while and then maybe see if we can work it out again."
Nick thought she seemed so calm. And he knew that this is what Jessica wanted. So, he had to let her go. "Well, Jess, I guess you're right. Maybe it should be this way."
"I think so."
"Okay." They started to get up and Jessica began to walk upstairs.
"Nick?" she said.
"Yeah?"
"I think I need to leave. If we are going to take time away from each other."
"What about Forever Love?"
"Well, we've all been talking about it and we all decided that we may have to break up."
"You never told us about it," he said.
"I know. Because we weren't for sure about it, but we think that if we stay in the group, it will ruin our friendship with each other and we have been friends for years. We don't want to mess that up."
"But what about your singing career? I thought you all were going to make an album."
"I thought so too, but now, I don't think it's going to work out. I have to talk to Julie and Kari about it."
"Well, okay. If this is the way it has to be," Nick said as she turned to continue walking up the stairs. "Jessica, wait," he called to her. She turned around and looked at him. "I'll always care about you, Jess."
"I'll always care about you too. Forever."
"I guess we're a little late now, aren't we?"
She didn't say anything. Just slowly walked back over to Nick and gave him a kiss on the cheek. Then, continued her walk up the stairs.
