Chapter 3

Nick told the rest of the guys that he was leaving. He left for the house. When he got there, Jessica was standing in the kitchen.

"Did you have to follow me?" she asked.

"Yes! I want us back together!"

"It's not my fault we're not. You're the one that suggested we split."

"You're the one that said you didn't need me," he came back.

"Well, I was wrong!" Jessica started crying, unable to control herself.

Nick went over to her and wrapped his arms around her. "Please, Jessica. I need you."

"I hate you," she whimpered into his chest.

"Then, why aren't you pulling away from me?"

"I'm sorry, Nick. I just got so upset."

"Don't be sorry. I am the one to be sorry. Please forgive me."

"I know that you weren't going to start anything with her. I just get so insecure when it comes to men sometimes."

"And I should have remembered that. I'm sorry. I just want to hold you."

"I'm not going anywhere," she said.

They started kissing. It grew more intense as they leaned up against the counter. The two of them went into Nick's bedroom and shut the door. Later that evening, everyone else came home. None of them wondered where Nick and Jessica were. They all went straight to bed.

***The Next Morning***

Nick's alarm clock went off. He was still so tired. He slapped at the alarm. When it wouldn't cut off, he threw it on the floor. He may have broke it, but it wasn't making that awful noise anymore.

"What was all of that?" Jessica asked waking up.

"The stupid alarm clock," Nick mumbled. Then he rolled over to face Jessica. They had spent the whole night making up. Which involved a lot of kissing, but nothing more.

"Maybe we should get up," she suggested.

"I guess," Nick said and kissed her quickly.

"What time is it?" she asked.

"I think it's 10 o'clock," he answered.

They walked out of Nick's room and into the living room. Everyone saw them in their pajamas.

"Looks like somebody made up," Brian said.

"I have to go get dressed," Jessica said and left the room.

"Did ya'll sleep long enough?" Julie asked.

"It's only 10 o' clock," Nick said as he sat down on a stool.

"Wrong! It's 12:15," Brian told him.

"Man! And I'm still tired," Nick complained.

"You acted responsibly with Jessica last night, didn't you?" Kari asked.

"What do you mean?" Nick said giving a strange face. Everyone just looked at him.

"You mean, you think . . . ," Nick stammered, "Why do you always think stuff like that of me? Don't you think I have a responsible bone in my body? We didn't do anything like that," Nick went to take a shower.

"Maybe he's more mature then we thought," Kevin said.
