Cassie woke up the next morning, feeling much better than she did the night before. She knew what was happening. There was a change in the way she felt about Nick. It's like she just woke up and she was in love with him. But, she was going to try to forget about those feelings she had. He was with Melissa and she didn't want to ruin it for him. Cassie's phone rang and she answered it.
"Is this Cassie?"
"Yes," Cassie answered.
"Hey. This is Reuben."
Cassie knew Reuben as a guy that she went to school with. Although, she never talked to him very much.
"I was wondering if you wanted to go to this party with me tonight," Reuben continued.
She didn't know if she should go or not. Maybe Nick was right, maybe she needed to start dating. And maybe if she did, her feelings that she was starting to feel for Nick would go away.
"I would love to go with you Reuben," Cassie said.
"Really? That's great. Can I pick you up at 8 o' clock?"
"Sure."
"Cool," Reuben said. "So, how's Nick?"
"He's okay. Yesterday was his and Melissa's one month anniversary."
"I don't know how he stands her," Reuben said.
"Why do you say that?" Cassie asked.
"I use to date her a while back. She's a real bitch. Always complaining. All she ever wanted from me was expensive gifts and it had to be just right for her. She seemed to just be after all the wrong things in a guy."
"That doesn't seem like the kind of girl Nick would date."
"Maybe he's blinded by her looks I don't know. I'm sorry to cut him down like that, I mean, Nick is one of my best friends. Maybe Melissa has changed. I don't know."
"It's okay. I know what you mean. It's completely possible that he's blinded by her looks. I just hope things work out for him cause I know he cares about her a lot."
"I hope it works out for him too."
All of a sudden, Nick walked in Cassie's front door."
"Let me let you go, Reuben. Nick just got here."
"Alright, Cassie. I'll see you tonight. Bye."
"Bye."
