Chapter 9

Kylie woke up definitely refreshed. She opened her eyes, expecting to be in her own room, but she found herself in a totally different room. Then, it all came back to her, everything. Tyler, the rain, Nick. A warm ray of sunshine lay across her face, as she felt so lucky as to have ended up here. She looked over to Nick's bed. He was sleeping soundly. Quietly getting out of bed, Kylie ventured downstairs. She wandered her way into the kitchen, where she saw a note for Nick, posted on the fridge with a magnet. It may have been invasion of privacy, but she read it anyway.

Nick, I've taken BJ, Angel and Leslie out shopping. I'll be back to make dinner. Dad called to say they may be coming back tonight if they're early. Take care of your guest, and try not to burn down the house.
- Love Mom.

Kylie smiled for a bit. It was nice to see such a loving, together family. She was so jealous. Nick had a big family, something she had always wanted. Bu, it was only her and her sister. And she thought it would be so nice to have parents who didn't throw plates at each other. Just then, Kylie heard something coming down the stairs. Stumbling down the stairs came Nick, groggily. He was not much of a morning person.

"Morning." greeted Kylie.

Nick smiled at her, not wanting to say anything as he was still kinda half asleep. Nick walked over to the fridge, squinted at the note and read it as he stretched.

"Well, looks like it's just me and you today." Nick managed to say, looking a little more awake.

"Yeah. It's a beautiful day outside." commented Kylie, looking wistfully out the window into blue, cloudless skies and a sunny morning.

"I could take you out on my boat for a ride." suggested Nick.

"That would be fun. But, there's sort of a problem. Last night, Tyler got kinda got pissed at me and now, all my stuff is down in Parker's Ravine." explained Kylie, afraid that she was being too troublesome.

"Oh." commented Nick.

"I like this one." said Kylie, picking up a green dress off the rack.

"I definitely like that one too." said Nick, trying to picture Kylie, looking beautifully stunning in that dress.

Kylie kinda looked at him curiously because he seemed a little out of it, daydreaming. Nick looked at her sheepishly and pulled the brim of his baseball cap lower over his eyes. He'd been lucky not to get recognized, especially him being in the women's department. Kylie picked a couple more items of clothing she liked.

"I'm gonna try these on." said Kylie.

"I'll wait here." offered Nick.

Kylie left him and disappeared into a changing cubicle. Nick sunk his shoulders in, a 6 foot 2 guy trying his best to look inconspicuous in the women's department of Sears. A short while later, Kylie emerged from the dressing cubicle thing in the green dress that she had picked up earlier. Nick's jaw dropped onto the floor. Kylie had no idea that it was his favorite color, and she looked drop dead gorgeous in that dress.

"Is it ok?" asked Kylie unsurely. Nick remained speechless though he managed to nod.

"Um right. I'll take that as an, ok then." said Kylie as she headed back to the changing room, smiling to herself.

Nick took Kylie out on his boat, cruising to nowhere in particular. Kylie was having a great time; the wind blowing through her hair, cloudless skies ahead, and Nick beside her. When they had gotten to this little island, you could walk to the other edge of it in 2 minutes. Nick stopped the boat. There was a little jetty thing and he parked the boat there.

"Welcome to my island." smiled Nick.

It wasn't literally his island, but he had found it and fell in love with it. He'd never seen anyone else there before, so he claimed it as his own; his favorite spot.

"Wow." exclaimed Kylie.

The island was deserted and beautiful. There was a tiny bit of a beach, and then there were a few trees clumped together. Nick got out of the boat, and then helped her out. They then proceeded to sit down on the small jetty. It was so peaceful and serene. No one else was in sight. Nick turned to Kylie, who looked at him straight back. They were caught up in each other's eyes, which seemed to draw each other closer and closer. Another milimeter more and their lips would have touched.

"Woof!!" barked something. Nick and Kylie looked at each other all startled like.

"Nick, either you're really weird and have a thing about impersonating animals, or I spot something that resembles a dog coming out of the cabin." said Kylie.

And surely, from out of the cabin, jumped 2 adorable pug puppies.

"Stowaways." exclaimed Nick.

The pair of dogs bounded up to Nick and Kylie. Both of them, knocking over Nick.

"Kylie, this is Michael and William." explained Nick, a hint of regret in his voice. The 2 dogs took to Kylie extremely well surprisingly.

After their little sea adventure, they went back to Nick's house. It was still empty and they ended up playing Nick's playstation. Tekken 3 was the game. So far, Kylie had beaten him in the last 5 games and Nick was trying his utmost best, getting a little frustrated.

"Ok, since your really kicking my ass. Let's make this interesting." suggested Nick.

"Go on." encouraged Kylie, intrigued.

"Ok, if you lose.........." Nick paused. "you have to kiss me."

"And if I win.......I'll figure something out." said Kylie, smiling.

Kylie won.

"Fine, you won. What do you want?" asked Nick, not so sure whether she didn't throw the game because she didn't want to kiss him, or because of other reasons.

Kylie moved closer to him and kissed him. Lip to lip, Nick was taken by surprise. It was the most tender, loving, meaningful kiss either had ever had. Nick was in shock.

"We both win." smiled Kylie. Nick smiled and kissed her.
