Chapter 6

~ 2 and a half years later ~

The Backstreet Boys had started a world tour, a short while after the horse riding incident. Brian couldn't stand being away from Billie for so long so, he took her with him. She became his personal assistant; basically looking after Brian and his stuff. Later on, she moved in with him and became the BSB's publicist. This left Jamie with no roommate. After a while, Jamie realized she was pregnant. Although, Jamie did distinctively remember having protection, the doctor said they were not 100 percent reliable. Abortion was out of the question for her. Since she was on the last year of college, with 4 months more to go, she continued until she graduated. She confronted her parents, who took it as the last straw and disowned her, unless she would get rid of the baby, by either abortion or adoption. When Jamie refused, they kicked her out of the house. Jamie was left penniless. In spite of this, her mother who just couldn't see her only baby and grandchild disappear, actually paid for Jamie to finish college.

After graduation, she moved to a small town, somewhere on the outskirts of San Francisco with her cousin, Danielle, who took her in. Danielle was a great help, since she was a nurse. She supported Jamie, while she was pregnant. Jamie tried to earn her keep, through odd jobs in the hospital that she could actually do while she was pregnant, which led to her later getting a job at the hospital as a babysitter to run the day-care, even though Jamie had majored in Art. Danielle even helped deliver the baby. The baby was named William, and he took on Jamie's surname, Michael. There was no way she would of let him take his father's surname on. She didn't even tell the father. She knew she didn't love him, and if she did tell him, he'd fight for custody, and she didn't want that. She also didn't want her face to be plastered all over the news, on what a whore she was and had a Backstreet Boy's baby. She somehow knew Nick wouldn't have liked that kind of publicity either. It was like doing a Monica Lewinsky.

Currently, Danielle got a really good job offer in Florida, she couldn't turn it down. So, Jamie searched for a job there, and got one as an animator for Disney; which was an improvement to a babysitter in a hospital. The three of them were going to move there in a few weeks.

"Hey Willie, how ya doing?" asked Jamie to her baby son. She couldn't call him Billie, even though she had actually named him after her best friend. because to her, Billie meant her best friend.

"Hi. Mommy," said William. He learned to talk very fast. Faster than he learned to walk. Jamie gave her son a big hug and picked him up.

"So, where you wanna go today?" asked Jamie as she carried him into the kitchen. It was Saturday, her off day. Before William could think of an answer, the phone rang.

"That must be your Aunt Billie." She put him down and picked up the phone. "Hello?" said Jamie.

"Jamie, I'm getting married!!!" screamed Billie, Jamie was the first person she told.

"Whoa!!" exclaimed Jamie. "Congratulations! The way you've been going on about Brian, you've found your guy," smiled Jamie.

"There's an engagement party on next Saturday. My maid of honor needs to be there."

"Me, maid of honor? I'm honored," laughed Jamie, she was happy for her friend.

"Well, since you're so honored, now you've got a reason to move here earlier."

"Why not. I'll talk it over with Danielle. I'll be there by Saturday, even if I have to hitch hike my way across the country. But, we'll need a place to stay. The place we've bought is only gonna be vacated in a few weeks."

"No problem. So, call you later, ok? I have to go call my mother now."

"Yeah, sure. Bye" Jamie smiled, she was happy. But then, the thought struck her. She had to finally reveal the secret she'd been keeping from her best friend for 2 years: William.

"Mommy," said William who tugged on his mother's shirt.

"William, honey, we're going to Florida!!" She picked him up and went to the hospital to arrange things.
