Billie's horse somehow had started to run, but not in the right direction. She was scared. Who wouldn't be, if you were on a runaway horse? All she could do is hold on tight.
Brian was nearby, he was having a leisurely ride when he came across Billie. Whoa, though Brian, beautiful girl, not a bad rider either. Billie too saw Brian. She was relieved to see some form of a human being although she did not notice it was an extremely good-looking one.
"Help!!! Get her to stop!!" yelled Billie. Brian was surprised. He had thought she had been handling the horse perfectly.
"Help's coming," yelled Brian back as he signaled for his horse to pick up the pace. He caught up to Billie and recognized the horse; he used to ride her.
"Whoa Star," said Brian, his left hand reached out for the bridle of the other horse and grabbed it. Immediately, the 2 horses began to slow down.
"Thanks!" sighed Billie. She realized how cute this guy was. She stared into his deep blue eyes, while he got lost in her sparkling green eyes. It was Billie who broke the silence.
"How do you know Star?" asked Billie.
"Oh, I used to ride her sometimes," answered Brian. "I thought you were riding her pretty well, I wouldn't have guessed she was out of control."
"Well, it's my first time," blushed Billie. "It wasn't my idea to come riding anyway."
"Wow, a natural, I'm honored." Grinned Brian.
"And so you should" laughed Billie. "And the naturally talented person who got on a runaway horse is Billie."
"And the knight in denim armor is Brian," joked Brian, he was wearing jeans and a denim shirt. The two of them really connected. They talked about anything and everything well, almost everything. Brian avoided his 'sensitive' career subject. He was afraid of how she'd react.
Nick jumped out of his green pick up truck. He walked into the office and took of his sunglasses. Although it wasn't all that sunny, Nick did need a disguise. He saw a gorgeous girl sitting with her head in her hands. Nick ignored her and walked up to the reception.
"Hi, I'm looking for Brian Littrell," smiled Nick at the receptionist who put down her knitting and answered him.
"Oh my god, Brian hasn't been back for 5 hours. He's a very experienced rider though, I'm sure he's fine."
"Well, is there any way I can contact him?" asked Nick. Brian didn't have his mobile phone with him. He looked out the window, and it had started raining.
"No, I don't think so, but ask Jamie over there if she saw him. Just to be safe, I'll get Mark to look for him since it started raining. He's already out on his jeep looking for Jamie's friend," explained the lady.
"Thanks." Nick walked over to the girl and prayed that she wasn't a fan. "Hi, excuse me but did you happen to see a guy about so tall," Nick put his hand at his neck level," light brown hair, blue eyes, riding around?"
Jamie looked up to see a clean cut, extremely tall blond guy standing in front of her with a backwards baseball cap on his head and wearing a green Nike T-shirt with baggy jeans. Ughh, she thought, not another mama's boy. She had been sick to death with these preppy guys trying to pick her up with corny pick up lines. Nick had a clear view of her face. Her nose and eyebrow ring put him off. The black lipstick didn't help her image either.
"Uhh, no, I haven't," reluctantly said Jamie coldly.
"Thanks anyway," thanked Nick and he walked back to the reception. What's with her? thought Nick, Serious attitude problem.
"No, she hasn't," said Nick to the receptionist.
"Well, you'll just have to have a seat and wait." The rain had turned into a storm. "He's an experienced rider, I'm sure he's fine, unlike Jamie's friend."
"Uh thanks, I think," aid Nick. He then walked over to Jamie and sat himself down next to her. He grabbed a horse magazine out of boredom and started reading an article about how horses have been drugged illegally for racing purposes.
Brian and Billie had been so engrossed in their intense conversation that they completely forgot about the time and weather. It started drizzling.
"We'd better be heading back," said Brian.
"Yeah, Jamie would be worried," agreed Jamie. They turned their horses around and suddenly, lightning struck a tree right in front of them. Both horses were startled and threw both their riders of their backs and ran off. Brian fell off first and his body hit the ground, his head knocked onto a small rock, causing a trickle of blood to ooze onto his forehead. Billie fell head first, knocking her head on a tree root and both of them were knocked unconscious.
