Nick Carter sat at the very back row of the bus all alone, looking out the window at the rain drops that were streaming along the glass that blurred the dark scenery they were passing by. It was their last night on tour and they were finally going home. Although this was relatively good news, Nick was feeling terrible. He was drowning in a sea of his own self-pity and anger. He caught his girlfriend cheating on him. He was just about to surprise her with a huge bouquet of roses for not being there with her lately. He opened the door and saw her in a full out passionate make out session with none other that Justin of N'sync, his rival. Although the 2 bands played the rivalry down for the sake of publicity, it was still there, just not in the eye of the public. Justin seemed to be pissing Nick off in every way, almost as if he was trying to take over his place. He was the cutest and youngest of his band, just like Nick, he got all the attention from their fans.Nick's band did get together first, they were like carbon copies of the Backstreet Boys.
Everything N'Sync had ever done was similar or if not, the same as the Backstreet Boys, almost as if following in their footsteps. Now wouldn't anyone be pissed if they were being copied? Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery but not in the music industry. And to top all this off, Justin has to steal his girlfriend. He hadn't told anyone though, although he did give Justin a black eye. Nick wouldn't have been able to handle the embarrassment of not knowing his girlfriend had been cheating. Nick was rarely violent but he had been blinded by anger so Justin's face just came into contact with Nick's right fist. It had came as a surprise to Nick himself. Justin didn't want everyone to know he'd been beat up by a Backstreet Boy, so he made up some rubbish about knocking into a door or some other crap. No one else knew the whole story except Nick, his ex and Justin. He was so pissed that he even swore off girls. He simply told the rest of his band members that he broke up with her. Brian had been trying desperately to pry the information out of him with no luck, but he had luck in getting Nick even more annoyed.
"Come on Frack, I'm your best friend, I can tell your upset." Tried Brian for the tenth time.
"Brian, for the one hundredth time, nothing's wrong, so for God's sake leave me alone for a fucking minute will ya!!!!" yelled Nick. Brian looked hurt, he couldn't understand why his best friend couldn't confide in him. Brian thought it might have been his own fault for being a bad friend so he backed off and thought about the problem. Nick saw the hurt look in Brian's eyes but he was too angry to apologize.
"Come on Billie, you'll love it, it is so fun" tried Jamie to convince her skeptical best friend to go horse riding with her.
"Jamie, my idea of fun is not sitting on 400 pounds of animal charging through a forest." Said an annoyed Billie, Jamie had been on her case the whole afternoon.
"It is fun, I guarantee it. Just come along and I won't bug you forever. Well, for the rest of the week at least." Begged Jamie.
"Promise?"
"Cross my heart."
"I'll keep you to that promise y'know" smiled Billie. Jamie took this as a sign that she said yes.
Brian saddled up his light brown horse, Lightning. He hadn't been riding in ages. He always went riding to clear his head. But lately he hadn't got around to doing it. He climbed up his horse and rode off.
Billie had begun to enjoy horse riding. She was stiff at first but got the hang of it in time much to the satisfaction of her friend. Billie chose a docile chestnut-coated mare, Star while Jamie rode her favorite horse, Midnight.
"I said it before and I'll say it again, I told you so." Teased Jamie.
"You don't have to rub it in ok?" defended Billie.
"Race you back to the stables." Yelled Jamie as she signaled for her horse to gallop faster.
"You're on" answered Billie, she was pretty sure she could follow Jamie.
Jamie's long black hair flew in the wind. She loved the feeling of the wind combing through her hair. She stopped her horse and turned around. She couldn't see any sign of Billie. She kind of panicked.
"Billie, this is so not funny," yelled Jamie with no reply. "Billie if this is your idea of a twisted practical joke, you're fucked up in the head," tried Jamie in vain once again. "BILLIE!!!!!! Where the fuck are you!!!!" shouted Jamie.
Nick walked up the stairs to Brian's apartment. He knocked on the door with no reply. He tried again in vain. He was just about to walk back down the stairs when Brian's next door neighbor came up the stairs with a bag full of groceries.
"You must be one of Brian's Backstreet buddies. He's at the stables." Said the man.
"Uhh thanks a lot Mr." Thanked Nick. Of course, thought Nick, riding, that's where he was, why couldn't he have thought of that? Nick happily ran down the stairs. He had to find Brian to apologize. He felt terrible for snapping at Brian who was just trying to be a good friend. Plus he had to tell Brian that they were supposed to catch a flight to San Francisco in a few hours.
