Melanie stood in the middle of the dance floor. This was definitely not the place she wanted to be. Everyone was pressed together, booing the band onstage. Melanie had tried to make her way through the sea of people, but it was useless, no one would move out of her way.

Why the hell am I here anyway? Melanie thought miserably Because I thought this might actually be fun Ha! How stupid am I? she continued thinking, trying to block out the awful music that was being played and the loud yells that were coming from the crowd.

Melanie remembered last week, when Jessica had given her the invitation that she had received. "I already have plans, but you could go in my place. Mr. Browns doesn't know what I look like, Megan just told him to invite me. So you can go, do you want to?" is what Jessica had said.

Of course Melanie had wanted to! Melanie loved parties! Except this one. This party was nothing but a lot of bad tasting food, bad music, and bad people.
