Nick and Rose reached the castle, both still dripping
wet. They were
laughing
so hard tears ran down their cheeks. "How are we going
to explain
this?" Rose
laughed as she held up a piece of her long dress.
"Easily. I'll say hello Mother. Why are my clothes
so wet? Oh
Mother,
you are so old fashioned. This is the latest trend!
Rose doubled over in laughter. Then, out of the
blue, Nick hissed,
"Be
quiet!" and put a finger to his lips. This shocked
Rose so much, she
immediately stopped laughing. She listened instead.
"I'm sure he'll be here soon Princess Mandy."
She heard the
Queen say.
"Drat! Princess
Mandy is here!" Nick exclaimed.
"How are you going to get by them?" Rose asked.
"Through the garden, come on!" He grabbed her hand
and they ran
through
the garden and into the back wing of the castle. This
part was not used
very
much.
"Well, I guess we should go change now." Rose
said, not wanting to
leave
him.
"Yes, come to my chamber and we'll get changed
together." Nick
said, with
a sly smile.
"Nickolas! I am ashamed of you!" Rose pretended to
be shocked.
"I guess that's a no?"
"For now at least!"
They kissed passionately and then went their
separate ways.
Nick entered the chamber where his mother and Princess Mandy sat.
"Why Nickolas! Where have you been? I sent Rose out over an hour ago to get you!"
"Well I"
"Oh Prince Nickolas! I can't wait a second longer to tell you! We're getting MARRIED!"
Nick's jaw dropped. "What!?"
"Isn't it wonderful? The ceremony will be held next week."
"N..Next week! I can't!"
Mandy pouted and Jane frowned. "And why not?" they both demanded.
"Because I..I don't love you!" Nick said.
"Son, love has nothing to do with it. She's a princess and your a prince. That's all that matters."
"No it doesn't! What if! What if I wanted to marry a girl who wasn't a princess?"
The two women gasped.
"Someone who wasn't a princess!" His mother stared at him. "You absolutely could not do it! You have to marry a princess! You are marrying Princess Mandy and that's final!"
