Chapter 4

After I took off my heels (which by the way were killing my feet) and hose, I walked over to him. I was still a little shocked at the small conversation we had just had. 'Did I want to take my dress off? Well, did he want to take his pants off? Okay then. Drop it Jen.

He took my hand in his and we started down the beach. Not much conversation came. In fact, it was silent. I realized Nick was acting strange. He seemed to be very anxious about something. About that time he stopped and pulled me close to him and kissed me. It was an electrifying kiss and I jolted slightly. He pulled away and looked down at me.

"Jen? I love you...very much. I don't want you to say anything. Just let me try and get this out. I've been seeing you for about a year now and I know that doesn't seem like a long time, when you look at it. But, when I spend half of that time away from you, it seems like an eternity. I know that this is completely irrelevant to the mind-blowing question I'm about to ask you. Just pray I can do this," he said breathing quite heavily.

And then, to my everlasting joy and the overwhelming fear, because I knew exactly what was going to happen, he got down on one knee, looked up to me, and said:

"I love you Jennifer. Will you marry me?" My heart jumped up my throat. I tried to speak but when I opened my mouth, no words came out. I just stood there looking at the most gorgeous guy, who had just asked me to marry him.

"Say something!" he yelled anxiously. He was obviously very ready to here my answer. Well, he probably would be.

"I can't," I yelled just as loudly. I was so frustrated at myself for not screaming YES because that was exactly what I wanted to say.

Finally, Nick stood up, frustrated, and turned to leave, completely destroyed. At that moment, a very serious thought crossed my mind. Nick was about 15 feet away.

"YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. It caught Nick off guard. He jerked around and looked at me with very wide eyes.

"What?" he said with an unbelievably wide smile across his face.

"I said yes. Of course I'll marry you Nickolas Gene Carter," I said smiling.

"YYYessss!" Nick yelled. He ran towards me and reached me in 3 seconds flat. He picked me up and twirled me around for about a minute, then sat me back on the ground.

"Oh shoot, wait," he said and pulled the ring back out. He grabbed my hand and smiled. He stared straight into my eyes, while he slipped the ring on my finger.

My heart was racing. After he placed the ring on my finger, he brought my hand up to his lips and kissed it. I smiled lightly. My eyes filled with tears and I felt them begin to spill onto my face and roll down. He leaned over and kissed me again. This time his tongue and all. I felt his hands slide up from my hands, traveling slowly up my arms. When they reached my shoulders, they slid down my sides until they reached my waist. One hand slipped around my waist and pulled me closer to him, so that every piece of my body was touching him in some way. Still using his tongue to kiss me, he moved down to my chin and eventually to my neck. One part of me wanted him so badly, but the other half told me to wait. I pulled away. His hands were still on my waist.

"Nick, slow down," I said smiling.

"I know. But I want you sooo bad right now," he said holding me so tightly.

"I know," I said sighing. We just stood there holding each other for what seemed like forever.

Finally he leaned down to my ear and said, "I love you."

"I love you too," I said into his leather jacket. I grabbed his hands and pulled away dragging him with me.

"So we're getting married huh?" I said smiling.

"Yep," Nick said happily.

"Alright...when?" I asked slyly.

"Tomorrow," Nick said lazily. <-p>"Nah. No good. It'll have to be the day after tomorrow," I said playing along with his little game.

"Alright. It's settled. We're getting married first thing Monday morning. You better get a move on. You haven't even gotten a dress yet," he said playfully.

"Nah. Come on Nick, for real. What about August or September? What's your schedule look like?" I asked seriously.

"First of all, I'm not waiting until August or September to marry you and secondly, I never know what my schedule looks like until the very last minute, unless it's like tour or recording."

"Nick, what's wrong with August or September? What exactly did you have in mind? March? April? I asked.

"May. It's a beautiful month. Perfect month for a wedding," Nick said laughing. We were now walking down the beach. Nick had his arm around my waist and he was trying to walk behind me.

"May? That's in 3 months. You can't plan a wedding in 3 months. No way," I said turning around to face him and placing my hands on my hips and giving him a look.

"Yes, way," he said also placing his hands on his hips. M

"No way," I said.

"Yes, way."

"No way."

"You're so cute when you argue, baby," he said smiling.

"Hey. I thought I was cute all the time," I said folding my arms across my chest.

"Uuuggghhh! Jennifer!" he said frustrated.

"What?" I said throwing my hands up in the air.

"Nah. You know you are. Which could explain why I love you so much," he said in a funny voice. He leaned over and kissed me on my forehead.

"Come on. Let's go home. I'm exhausted," I said.

"Alright. Whatever you say Miss," he said sarcastically.

We walked arm in arm up the beach to the car. We didn't say much on the way home. We finally got home and Nick walked me to BJ's room again. He kissed me on the lips. Tongue and all again.

"Good-night, Nick," I said.

"Good-night, baby," he said and kissed me on the forehead. As he walked away, he turned around.

"Oh, and Happy Valentine's Day, sweetheart," he said. "Happy Valentine's Day, hon," I said blushing.

I opened the door to BJ's room and went inside. I changed clothes and got ready to go to bed. I fell back on my bed and thought about the wonderful night I had. I looked at the beautiful ring I had on my finger. It sparkled in the light. I couldn't believe it. In about four or five months, I would be marrying Nick Carter. Right then, a thought crossed my mind. I picked up my pillow and walked down the hall to Nick and Aaron's room. I knocked.

"Come in," Nick said puzzled. I opened the door and stood there in the doorway.

"What?" Nick asked, sitting on his bed. He was wearing a faded Old Navy t-shirt and navy blue boxers.

"Can I sleep in here with you? I mean in Aaron's bed?" I asked.

"Sure. I don't think Aaron will mind much," he said.

"It's not Aaron that I'm worried about," I said. At these words, Nick stopped dead in his tracks. "I'm more worried about you and me."

"Well, I guess if no one's sleeping in it, then it's yours," he said.

"Great," I said and jumped enthusiastically into Aaron's bed. Nick turned out the lights and we went to sleep. That night I dreamed about marrying Nick.
