*****Jen's POV*****
Amanda came in the room and sat on the end of the bed. I was laying on my stomach with my head in my pillow. I had also been crying. She scooted up to where I was laying and started rubbing my back.
"It's okay. When you're ready to talk, I'm here," she said sweetly. '
I finally sat up and spilled the whole story about Kaitlyn. She listened the whole time. At the end, I began to tell her how I felt about the Kaitlyn thing and about the wedding. We had 8 weeks.
"I love Nick, but I don't know if I can trust him in a marriage now," I said sniffling.
"Tell me something. Do you really think Nick would, first of all, lie to you? Second of all, fool around with someone else just days after her proposed to you? And thirdly, that he really meant to hurt you at all?" she asked. I thought about it.
"No," I said quietly.
"And do you love him right now? Even though you're mad at him?" she continued. I thought long and hard about this one.
"Yes," I said truthfully. And right then, I didn't care if he called me Kaitlyn, Jessica, or the Pink Panther. I loved him so much.
"Good, because he loves you so much and he is really dying out there," she said, pointing to the door.
"I know," I said looking down. It had been about two hours since the whole ordeal started. I opened the door and walked down the hall to the stairs.
*****Back to Nick*****
I sat on the couch and tried to wait it out. Brian picked up the TV remote and found a Jim Carrey movie. He laughed and laughed, but I couldn't. I was dying inside. The only reason I had said that was because I had still been worried about it. I couldn't stand it anymore. I stood up and started pacing the floor.
"Nick sit down. You're making me nauseous. Amanda's a good talker. She'll settle her mind," he said.
"Well, I'm going to take a walk," I said and left. I had no idea where I was going, but I had to go somewhere. I went to a lake near the house. I hadn't been there long, when I heard someone behind me. I jerked around to find Jennifer with red, wet eyes. I knew this was it. Either I was going to apologize like I had never apologized before or the engagement was off. But even when she'd been crying, she looked great. I knew I had a very serious look on my face. I walked over and put my hands on her head and kissed her. Then, I grabbed her waist and pulled her into me and whispered 'I love you' in her ear.
"I love you too," she said into my shirt.
"I'm so sorry, baby," I said. And I really was.
"I know. It's okay," she said and pulled away but kept her hands on my arms. "But only as long as you don't love her," she said laughing. I gasped and let go of her. Of course, I was just playing.
"Nick. I'm playing, I'm playing," she said.
"I know. Hey, there's my girl's pretty smile," I said, holding both her hands in front of me.
"Whatever," she said.
"Come on. Let's go get something to eat. Because of my stupidity, we missed dinner," I said.
"No. I just overreacted. Don't worry about it," she said.
"I love you," I said and leaned over and kissed her. After the kiss, I wrapped my arm around her waist and she did the same. We went to a pizza parlor and then I had to go to my parents house to pick something up that I had left, when we had packed a week before. Everyone was home now. But, BJ had had a date and Angel was at a birthday party.
"I wonder if Mom told everyone about the engagement," I asked Jen in the car on the way to the house.
"I hope not. Maybe, we could tell them," she said enthusiastically.
"Maybe," I said smiling.
We got there and Mom, Dad, Leslie, and Aaron were there. Aaron came running up to Jen and wrapped his arms around her.
"Hey, Airboy. How's it hangin?" she said in slang. We all sat down in the living room and once everyone was settled, I stood up and offered Jen my hand. She took it and I gently pulled her to her feet.
"Well, Jen and I have some very interesting news. We're engaged. We're getting married in 2 months," I yelled over the commotion of excitement.
"TWO MONTHS?" Mom screamed.
"Yeah, May," I said.
"No, you're not. You are going to wait at least a year before anything happens," she yelled across the room. By now, everyone was quiet. I moved my arm around Jen's waist and she put her arm on my back.
"A year? Mom, we've already talked about this," I said.
"Exactly. And you agreed to at least a year," she said.
"What? I'm 19. I'm an adult. I can make my own decisions," I screamed. By now, both my hands were up in the air.
"And I'm your Mother. You will do as I say," she said and stomped off outside.
Everyone sat around and looked at each other. I figured I should go talk to her. When I got outside, she was sitting by the pool crying. I walked over and put my arm around her.
"Mom, it's okay. Jen and I love each other and there isn't anything I wouldn't do for her," I said.
"I know. But, I'm a mom. It's hard for me to understand. It's hard for me to see you as an adult. You're always little Nicky," she said in between sniffles. I kept my arm around her.
"So May?" I asked.
"June?" she asked skeptically.
"Deal. June, it is" I said. I was glad my Mom hadn't made me wait. We walked back up to the house and everyone congratulated us.
