One Month Later....
Although Nick had not gotten legal custody of Aaron, he still had guardianship over him. Bob had agreed to let the younger blonde live with his brother if he got himself legally emancipated, which is what he did. Aaron severed all ties with his mother and moved in with Nick and Gavin three weeks ago. Gavin liked having another person around to play with all the time.
Nick turned the water in the bathtub on to a medium temperature. He got Gavin’s tub chair out of the closet and placed it in the tub. He made sure he had all of Gavin’s favorite bath toys close by in case he decided to rebel against taking a bath. Nick had read so many parenting books; he knew all the tricks to getting his son to bathe.
He walked through the house searching for his son. He was sitting in the living room eating ice cream that Aaron was feeding him. Gavin smiled when he saw Nick.
“It cold daddy, it cold!” Gavin said smiling and hugging himself, smearing the ice cream in the process.
Gavin reached out his sticky hands towards his father. Nick smiled and picked him up off the floor.
“It icky daddy,” Gavin giggled placing his sticky hands one both of Nick’s cheeks.
Nick smiled as Gavin gave him a cold ice cream kiss. Gavin defiantly needed a bath now. Gavin laid his head down against Nick’s chest and coughed. Nick looked at him worriedly for a moment and then made a mental note to look for cough syrup later.
“I wob you daddy,” Gavin said clapping his sticky hands.
Nick smiled and told Aaron he was going to give Gavin a bath. Aaron nodded and stretched out on the couch to call his girlfriend. Aaron loved Gavin, but he was glad to be free of him every now and then too.
Nick carried the messy baby into the bathroom and stripped him of his t-shirt and diaper. Gavin’s diapers were the cutest in the world. He had absent mindedly forgotten to buy diapers the last time he was out, and had to have AJ run and get him some the other day. They had the words “Wild Thing” printed on the butt. They were adorable.
Gavin didn’t protest and Nick slipped him into his chair to take his bath. Nick got a washcloth out of the cabinet and rung it out in the water. Gavin was a water baby, so he really didn’t mind taking a bath unless he was really tired, then he usually put up quite a fight. He sat in the water, quite content in just splashing for a few moments. Nick got the baby shampoo and began to wash the little guy’s hair. Gavin’s hair was soft and light. He really didn’t have much hair for a two year old.
“Is eat isceam daddy!” Gavin smiled showing his other two bottom teeth that were getting ready to come in.
“Yeah, you did baby. Was it good ice cream?” Nick asked his son softly.
“Yeah” Gavin said laying his head on his shoulder.
He tried to stick his fingers in his mouth, but Nick caught them with the washcloth and cleaned the remaining stickiness off of them. Gavin took his other hand and smashed it down in the water sending a wave of water onto Nick. Gavin laughed like it was the funniest thing in the world. He clapped his hands, proud of himself for the mess he had made.
