Once they arrived at the police station they were ushered into a
waiting room. They sat and waited while the officers went to
retrieve Jane and Angel. Nick sighed deeply, hoping to get the
awful moment done and over with. He took Kayleigh's hand in his and
squeezed it gently. His grip tightened as his mother approached. His
sister, (who was dressed entirely too provocatively by his
standards), was shooting them dirty looks from her place behind her
mother. Aaron rolled his eyes and nudged his brother with his
elbow. Gavin and Kayleigh remained quiet as Nick stood to greet his
mother.
"I want to see my grandson," Jane demanded stepping forward.
Nick crossed his arms over his chest and gazed quietly at his
mother. He really wanted to hit her sometimes. He moved to the side
blocking her view of Gavin and Kayleigh. He was sick of her trying
to interfere with his life. He had made it perfectly clear before
that she wasn't going to be involved in his son's life. She
obviously had a hard time of accepting that fact. He didn't get
along with his mother at all, and he was determined to keep her as
far from his son as possible. He didn't want his mother to try to
gain control over Gavin like she had done to her two own sons.

Aaron caught his sister's eye and followed her out of the waiting
room. He didn't like to see his mother and brother fighting, he also
knew this was his chance to make peace with his twin. She had never
really forgiven him for moving in with Nick.
They walked outside and sat on the concrete bench. They sat in
silence for a moment before Angel spoke up.
"Why do you hate mom so much Air?" she asked using the family
nickname for him.
He rolled his eyes to keep from mouthing off. He despised his
sister sometimes.
"You would not understand Angel. You are not like us. Mom did not
try to use you as a way to make money all of the time. Nick and I,
we understand each other, we both went through the same things. Why
can't you understand that?" He asked.
"Aaron, don't be so dramatic. That wasn't the way it happened and
you know it. Mom loves you both. She would never do anything to hurt
you. You have to stop blaming everything on her. It's really not her
fault." Angel said sighing heavily.
Aaron sat there for a moment dumbfounded. He could not believe his
own sister had said that. It was like she was brain washed or
something. He knew his mother had told her a bunch of lies, he just
didn't realize it was that bad. His own twin didn't even believe him
anymore. How much worse could life get?

Jane closed in on Nick in an attempt to make her opinion clear.
"That is my grandson, and I have the right to see him any time I
want to." She mouthed back jabbing her finger into Nick's chest.
"No you don't" Nick yelled back slapping his mother's hand
away. "He's not something you can own or use to make money. He is
my son, and I have made it clear that you are not welcome in his
life.
He felt Kayleigh's hand touch the small of his back and he smiled
momentarily. She slipped her hand into his side pocket and fished
out his car keys. Once she'd retrieved them she left the room
carrying a sleeping baby in her arms.
"What is she?" Jane demanded to know.
"She's my friend mother.' Nick defended.
"Your friend, or something more than that?" She pressed further.
"It is none of your business. She's in my life and you are not, get
over it and grow up. Your actions made things this way mother." He
yelled loudly causing her eyes to widen.
"I would greatly appreciate it if you would butt out of mine and
Aaron's lives. You can't control us anymore. You have to stop
pretending like you understand us, because you don't. You know
nothing about us. You may have the other children blinded, but
Aaron and I see the way you really are. We both know what type of
person you truly are. It disgusts me that I have to call you my
mother. Now let's go so I can get my son home to bed." He turned and
left Jane gaping at him.
Once he had gotten outside and to his truck he noticed that Aaron
was sitting in the car. Angel wasn't around so he figured that they
had gotten into it again. They had been fighting a lot lately.
Kayleigh was sitting in the backseat playing with Gavin, while Aaron
had his headphone's on.
It surprised him still, how greatly she affected him. She could make
him the happiest man around while the world was crashing down around
his shoulders. He was beginning to fall hard for her. He didn't
know if that's the way he wanted things to go. Did he want to be in
a relationship? In a moment of chaos she was the only thing that
made sense. She made him happy, she made his son happy, but was that
enough to start over again. Was she enough to change how he felt
about life, about love? He didn't know, he had no idea, but he did
know he could not bear to lose her.
He climbed in the car and waited for his sister and mother to get
in. He wanted to get them home so he could get away from them. He
just needed time to figure out how he felt.
