It was a gloomy Monday morning as Reina was on all floors, scrubbing the kitchen floor. The thunder continued to clapped as the lightning made its mark in the dark, gray sky every few minutes, and rain endlessly poured down to the ground with no hint of slowing down.
"Rei!" Hailey's voice called out, seeming to come out of nowhere. "Rei!" she called out again. "REI!" finally screaming out with a hint of irritability.
Reina quickly got up from all fours and ran as fast as she could to the second floor of the house and into Hailey's bedroom. "Yes?"
"It took me three calls to get you up here?" she snapped as she held a long gown in front of the mirror, holding it against her body, examining and imagining how it would look on her. "I forgot the new perfume I bought in the pool house. I need you to get it for me right now"
"But Miss Hailey it's..."
"But? did you just say but to me?" Hailey turned to Reina with disappointment and anger in her facial expression.
"It's...it's raining pretty hard outside and there's thunder and lightning and..."
"Then use a fucking umbrella, you idiot!" Hailey glared at her grotesquely. "If I don''t have that perfume here in my hand in five minutes, you are going to be sorry. Now get your lazy ass out of here and get me that fucking perfume, NOW!"
"Ye...yes Miss Hailey," Reina ignored her initial fear for the lightning and thunder as she was more scared of making her 'master' angrier than she already was. She quickly ran down the stairs as she grabbed an umbrella and, with more than an inch of hesitation in her body, she ran out across the field to where the pool house was located.
Halfway through the field, a lightning clasped across the dark sky, bigger than it had been prior. As if a picture coming out of its pages into life, the lightning was cut into two as both did the same, as if it had been peeled off from the sky and into the air. One touched Reina from her back, sending her to the ground unconscious. The other seemed to have disappeared as it seemed to have entered a window inside Hailey's house. A shrill was all that was heard and the two bolts of lightning disappeared.
The rain stopped, the sky cleared and the sounds of thunder rumbling was no longer reminiscent. The sun began to shine as sounds of birds singing began to fill the air. Within a couple of minutes, it was as if it had never rained in the first place.
Reina was still lying flat on her front as she felt aches and pains overtake her entire body. She felt real shaky as she tried to stand up on her two feet, but collapsed mid-way through. "Ow," she cried out as she held her arms out to prevent her from falling flat on "the carpet?" she called out confusingly.
That was when she noticed she wasn't outside, but inside Hailey's room. The floor-to-ceiling mirror that played as the closet's sliding doors which stood in front of her showed a reflection that sent her jaws to the ground.
"Oh...my...god!" she gasped as she crawled closer to where the mirror was located and examined her entire self, inch-by-inch. "What the hell happened?" she questioned the mirror, as if it could talk.
The reflection showed not a ragged-looking, poor servant. In fact, her reflection suggested the opposite. Her long, dark hair flowed down with soft, big curls at the bottom, a sheer sign that it was carefully managed with expensive hair care products. Her face was plastered with make-up that enhanced the futures of her face, particularly her big, dark eyes and pouty lips. Her body wore, not a maid's outfit, filled with stains and dirt at each crevice, but a short satin dress, revealing her long legs, and accentuated neck as well as her chest and curvy hips. "This...this is a dream! I'm...yeah...I'm dreaming!"
"Here's your perfume, Miss Reina," a familiar voice called out from behind her. Reina quickly jerked her head around to find Hailey standing at the doorway holding a box of expensive perfume in her hand as she wore the uniform Reina wore day after day. "Miss...Miss Hailey?" she gasped
"I beg your pardon, Miss Reina?" Hailey looked at her, puzzled."I got the perfume you asked me to get for you at the pool house, Miss Reina"
"Miss Reina? Why...why do you keep calling me that?" Reina retorted as she got up on her two legs which were still a little wobbly.
"Because that was what you told me to call you?" Hailey replied, her eyebrows curled in pure confusion. "Miss Reina, are you okay?"
"Stop calling me that!" Reina bellowed, placing her right hand on her forehead trying to make sense of everything.
"Yes, Miss Reina!"
"This is a dream...this is...yeah...this is nothing but a dream," she chuckled while looking back at Hailey, whom remained standing at the doorway with an expression of fear in her face. Reina ran up to her and demanded, "I need you to pinch me, just...just pinch me so I can wake up! Pinch me!"
"Miss Reina I don't think that's appropriate!" Hailey reasoned
"I'm dreaming! This is all a dream and I need you to pinch me so I can wake up!"
"Miss Reina I can't pin..."
"PINCH ME, DAMN IT!"
"Yes Miss!" Hailey jumped from fear as she pinched Reina's arm.
"Ow!" Reina jumped from the pain
"I'm so sorry Miss Reina! You told me to pinch you so I did but...please don't fire me! I'm sorry! I'm really sorry!" Hailey's voice quivered
Reina stood with her jaw opened as she held the spot where Hailey had pinch her to ease it from the pain. "This...I'm not...this is real...this...what is going on?" she looked at Hailey fidgeting by the doorway as she bit her lips, seeming to wait for Reina to snap at her and call her names.
She looked at Hailey as she whispered under her voice, low enough that Hailey could not understand what she said, "We've switched spots, haven't we? I'm you and...and you're...you're me!"
Upon that realization, Reina let out a small sigh of disbelief as her eyes cross and collapsed back on the floor: fainted!
