Chapter 3

The doorbell rang as Rei continued to place the costly h'ordourves on an expensive fancy china plate. "Rei, will you get that?" Hailey's voice sprang from the inside of the house in a hasty manner. Letting out a small sigh as she knew Hailey was doing nothing but sitting on her expensive leather couch, posing, as if being photographed, she dropped what she was doing and wiped her hands on the apron she had wrapped around her waist, and headed for the door to allow the visitors in.

"Hi, is this is uh...Hailey Palmer's house?" a soft and friendly voice greeted with a hint of latin accent lingering within his voice. He was considered short for a man but his posture presented him as proud of who he is. He had a friendly expression on his face as his eyes twinkled and his dark brown hair seemed to have been styled to look as if wind-blown. A long haired lady stood beside him, her arms wrapped around his arms; her eyes were hidden behind an obviously expensive pair of sunglasses as each curves in her body was defined by the summer dress she wore. Lingering about in the back of the two couple was Nick. His body language showed deep defiance of being there.

"Uh...yes sir, this is Miss Palmer's house. Please, do come in, she is waiting for you in the living room," Reina greeted with smiles on her face.

The three of them prepared to enter the house, as Nick spoke out, with a hint of annoyance in his voice, "We're not going to be here long, right Howie?"

"Would you relax, Nick? Settle those ants in your pants!" teased the girl.

"I wasn't talking to you...Lee!" Nick rolled his eyes. "I was talking to Howie! Howie, tell me we're not going to be here more than half an hour! You know I didn't want to come here in the first place and..."

"Nick!" Howie chuckled

"What?"

"Calm down! Breathe in and out! This isn't hell buddy!" Howie continued to chuckle as they were led by Reina to the room where Hailey awaited.

Coming upon a room, Reina turned the knob and slowly pushed the door opened. "Miss Palmer, your visitors are here," she announced as she stood on the side to allow the guests walk past by her to greet their host.

Hailey, remaining her pose, stood up from where she was seated, with an obvious flaky smile on her face to greet Howie and Lee. "Welcome to my house," she claimed while her body language were evident of showing off her rich establishment.

"Hailey, this is my good friend, Nick," Howie greeted while pointing to Nick, whom stood behind them, his eyes lingering.

Letting out a snotty giggle, she stepped forward to greet Nick. "Hi Nick, I have heard so much about you!"

"I have heard...not that much about you!" Nick forced a smile on his face while mocking the tone of which Hailey spoke.

Somewhat embarrassed but still a bit skiddish, Hailey turned to Rei, whom was still standing at the side waiting for orders: "Rei, the drinks!" her smile disappeared from her face as she retorted out her command to the lowly servant.

"Yes Miss Palmer," Reina bowed her head as she left the room and closed the door behind her while the conversation; however fake, continued.

She headed back to the kitchen to follow through with what was asked of her, but she couldn't help but feel the color on her face change from normal to red. She couldn't help but feel somewhat attracted to the tall, blonde one, Nick. "Oh but why would he want me?" she thought to herself. "Guys like that don't notice girls like me. Girls like me serve the type of girls that guys like him go for, like Hailey!" she continued while another line of resentment was added in her list for Hailey. "I wish I was beautiful!" she sighed as she finished placing the pitcher of juice and four crystal glasses on a tray and carried them on her hand to bring back inside the living room.

She began to take the same path she made as before, when she suddenly bumped into someone, causing her to drop all that she had in her hands, sending it into clatter on the floor. "Oh my god, oh my god!" her voice shiver as she felt her heart rise up to her throat. She automatically fell down to her knees on the floor to began cleaning up the mess that had just been created.

"I am so sorry!" Nick said while kneeling down with her to help Reina with the mess.

"She's going to kill me...she's...four crystal glasses, a crystal pitcher...that's...how much is that?" she mumbled to herself, feeling the tears in her eyes build up and her body trembled from fear.

"What is going on in here?" Hailey ran into the kitchen with Howie and Lee hot at her trail. She placed her arms on her hips as she saw the sight of Reina and Nick on the floor with mess surrounding the two of them. "What the hell did you just do?" Hailey snapped at Reina. "You are so fucking clumsy!"

"Hey relax alright? it wasn't her fault! I accidentally walked into her!" Nick looked up at Hailey as he snapped back.

"I want you to clean this mess up and you and I will have a talk after this!" Hailey huffed as he signaled Howie, Lee and Nick to head back inside the living room.

Reina continues to clean the mess with her head drooped down focused solely on what she had to clean up.

"Are...are you going to be okay?" a solemn voice called out.

"I'll be fine," she said, her voice trembled, a sign that tears were flowing out of her eyes. "Please just go back inside the living room before I get into anymore trouble"

"I'm...I'm really sorry," Nick got up, feeling deep sympathy for the girl that was in front of him. He wanted to say something else; something that will take away her pain and fear, but he didn't want to make matters worse, so he bit his lips and walked away.
