"Now ladies and gentlemen, I would like to let it be known that there is a cascade of interesting biochemical and cellular events that occur during mutation including nuclear membrane breakdown, completion of meiosis...." the voice of the professor giving out the lecture trailed off into the abyss as Nick's concentration was interrupted upon realization of Ro-Ena's swift movement from what seemed to be a serene position of concentration as she sat at the grassy area of the campus, into raging movements back inside the building.
Nick leaned over closer to the window to see if he can still spot Ro-Ena but to no avail. "I wonder why she left in such a hurry?" Nick thought to himself as he curled his eyebrows, until the clearing of the throat of the professor gave him the signal that he needed to pay attention more to what was happening in front of him as oppose to what was going on outside the classroom walls.
~~~~~~~~~~~~ CHANGE OF SCENE ~~~~~~~~~~~~
"What's happening to me?" Ro-Ena's soft but fearful voice echoed from the empty bathroom of the school campus as she gaped at her own reflection provided by the mirror in front of her. She didn't feel like herself, and she knew she wasn't herself. "How can that voice belong to me? I didn't say it. I didn't! It wasn't me! How could it be me when I didn't say it?" she wondered frantically. Her heartbeat began to race uncontrollably. She ran to the sink, turning the faucets on to let the water fall out. She interrupted the flow as she allowed water to be collected from the bowl-like shape her two hands made and splashed water on her face, one after the other.
A million different thoughts raced through her entire body, each with a different theory but end the same, "It wasn't me! I didn't say it!"
With water dripping down from her face, ultimately dripping down her neck, allowed her shirt to be lingering of the wetness the water she splashed on herself provided, she stared back at her own reflection on the mirror. She wanted to cry. She wanted to scream. She wanted to run away. Most of all, she wanted Nick. She wanted to have him stand in front of her to tell her that things are going to be alright: that he will help her, that he will give her the sense she needed to assure her and give her comfort of the situation at hand. She wanted to have him hold her in his arms and stay there. That was what she needed the most. She needed him more than she has ever needed anyone or anything her entire life. Except, he wasn't there.
"Ena?" a voice called out from behind.
-Ena quickly turned back around to see Reese watching her by the entrance of the washroom. "Are you okay?" Reese asked with a hint of worry in her voice.
"I'm fine," Ro-Ena retorted, as she straightened herself out while heading towards one of the stalls, taking out some toilet paper to help dry herself up.
"Are you sure?" Reese replied while walking further into the room. "You don't look too good!"
"I said I'm fine! What don't you not understand from that?" Ro-Ena snapped, showing her annoyance of Reese's concern.
Reese, surprised at Ro-Ena's sudden attitude, curled her eyebrows, "Okay, I'm sorry! Calm down!" she chuckled nervously. "Sorry I asked," she whispered under her breath while going inside one of the unoccupied stalls and closed the door behind her to carry on with her business.
