The bright sun stroke its rays straight into Ro-Ena's eyes, as she tried to block it off by pulling out a pair of sunglasses and swiftly protecting her eyes with it against the bright strike of the sun. She loved the feel of the warmth against her skin, as she relaxed on the grass at the front of her school campus, while flipping through the pages of her book, trying to comprehend the information written in text.
"Hey, beautiful" a soft voice called out from behind her, interrupting her concentration. Ro-Ena looked up and saw Nick standing behind her. "You had lunch yet?" he asked while smiling down at her.
Ro-Ena felt a small flutter sensation in her heart, as she saw the vision of Nick that shone through with the help of the shining sun. He looked angelic as his golden blond hair shimmered against the sun and his blue eyes twinkled simultaneously with every word that escaped his curvy, red lips. His body was perfectly defined in the black t-shirt he was wearing as the sleeve was small enough to hint at the tattoos he had.
"You there?" Nick laughed while waving his right hand over her face.
"Uh, yeah...yeah, sorry!" Ro-Ena chuckled
"I think you've been studying way too hard that you seem so out of it!" he said while setting himself down beside Ro-Ena. "Hi, by the way," he smiled at her as he leaned over to give her a small peck on her lips.
"Hi," she smiled from ear to ear, openly receiving his kiss and returning it back to him, with a kiss of her own.
"I can't really stay, I still have class. I saw you from out the window sitting out here and I have my 15 minute break right now, so I thought I'd come out to say hi to you" he informed her. "And look! Brought you lunch!" he smiled, while pulling out a small white paper bag that contained a sandwich and a drink.
"Thanks," Ro-Ena accepted the white bag while looking inside. "So, you were watching me huh?"
"Well...you know, my class is up there," he informed while pointing up to a room in the third floor of the building in front of them. "I was sitting beside the window and I looked out and saw you...but, I have to go!" he said as he saw the time on his watch. "Going to be late for class!"
"Okay, thanks for lunch!" she said as they gave each other a goodbye kiss.
With that, Nick got up and began to walk back into the building and left Ro-Ena alone to get back to her studying. Ro-Ena brought her focus back on her books, as a hint of smile was written all over her face. Nick always managed to give her the effect of the tingling sensation within her, the butterflies in her stomach as many would categorize it, and she liked it.
Within a matter of seconds, however, Ro-Ena felt a sudden hit of discomfort strike her entirety. It felt as if she was being watched. She examined the place around her to see if she could spot some unsuspecting lingerer behind the shadows of the trees scattered all over the school yard. There was nobody there. Shrugging her shoulders, she brought her focus back on the book she was trying to study. As soon as she let her eyes down to meet the text written across the text, the feeling of being watched came back. "I'm just imaging things, I'm just imagining things," she repeated silently to herself while clearing her throat, trying hard to keep her focus straight. "I'm just imagining things," she said once more while allowing a smile to be drawn on her face.
"Ena," a voice called out from out of nowhere.
Ro-Ena quickly tilted her head up to see who it was that called her. There was nobody around, other than a few scattered students, whom are all either silently chatting with other students or, unlike Ro-Ena, had their nose buried in their books, completely focused with concentration that was undisturbed.
"Ena," the voice called out again, this time a little louder and a little bit more forceful. "Over here!"
Ro-Ena jerked her head to the left: there was no one there.
"Ena, over here!" the voice called out once more
Ro-Ena jerked her head to the right: there was no one there
"Over here, Ena, over here!" the voice became a little more louder and more distinguishable. It was a voice that belonged to a girl.
Frustrated with a hint of fear, Ro-Ena quickly shifted her head around in every direction possible. The quicker she shifted her head, the faster the sound of the voice, that seemed to have come out of nowhere, came.
"Where are you?" she finally whispered back in the same intonation as the voice she heard, followed by a small gasp while clasping her lips with her own fingers. Her fear dissipated as confusion took over, "What's going on?" she asked herself as she finally realized whom it was that was calling her.
She quickly gathered her own stuff. as she placed them all back in her book bag, then swiftly getting up from her position and running back into the campus building, not bothering to slow down her pace nor looking back at her trail.
