“What are you thinking about?” Ro-Ena asked as she continued getting dressed for school.
Nick was still in bed. It had been a week since the freaky occurrence happened at Ro-Ena’s place. She had successfully moved in at Nick’s rented room: a room at the Four Season’s Hotel that was being rented for him as a package during his 4-month school stay in Toronto. It was a yearly thing that he did, all for his education. He could have gone to a university in Tampa, Florida, where he normally resides in, but he felt the need for change, and he figured moving to Toronto would give him that desire, and boy was he right! “Nothing…I just suddenly don’t feel too well!”
Ro-Ena stopped and looked at Nick. She noticed he did look rather pale than the usual. He was naturally fair-skinned but the reminiscent color he got from the Florida sun was still enough to provide him a sort of tanned color, however light it may have been. She walked over to where he was seated on the bed and felt his forehead. “You have a slight fever,” she exclaimed
“Oh great,” he rolled his eyes. “Maybe that’s why I honestly feel like I’ve got about 5 pounds of throw-up right here waiting to be purged out of my system!!!” he said while holding his stomach, purposely trying to gross Ro-Ena out.
“Thanks for the wonderful description, Nick!” she smiled at him. “I think it looks like a day of bed for you! You should rest it out so it won’t forego its visit on your body schematic system there!”
“Body schematic system?” he raised one eyebrow at Ro-Ena’s choice of vocabularies
“You know what I mean!” she playfully and lightly hit him on the shoulder.
“How are you going to get to school?”
“Last I checked, the transit commission is still working,” she replied sarcastically while letting out a small chuckle.
“Take a cab to and from campus, it will make me feel safer knowing that you’re not…you know, taking that transit deal!” he suggested. “Maybe I could call Reese and she could give you a ride today?”
”No, Nick, that’s really not necessary! Don’t bother her with all these errands of driving me around!”
“Reese owes me anyway! It will be cool”
“No, I’ll take the cab!”
“Are you sure?”
“Positive! Now I have to get going or I’m going to be late for class!”
“Okay, well here, take my cell phone, it’s on vibrate, DO NOT TURN IT OFF!” he instructed while handing her his mobile phone. “I’m going to be calling on you to check up on you!”
“Yes sir!” she grinned while accepting his cellular and placing it in the side pocket of the dress shirt she was wearing.
Nick began to chortle, “Might I also suggest not putting it there?”
“Why not?”
Nick held his forefinger up to signify Ro-Ena to wait and see as he picked up the cordless phone nearby and began to dial a set of number. Within seconds, a sudden yelp from Ro-Ena emerged as Nick was sent into a roar of laughter. “That’s why! I told you it’s on vibrate!!”
“You could have just told me!” she replied while taking the cellular out of her pocket and placed it inside her schoolbag. “All right, I’m leaving, I’m going to be late!”
“Aren’t you going to call a cab?”
“There’s always a whole herd of taxi cabs waiting downstairs for possible customers,” she implied while putting on her jacket and picking up her schoolbag.
“What? No kiss goodbye?” Nick pouted while crossing his arms in dissatisfaction
“Oh, silly me, what was I thinking?” Ro-Ena giggled then making her way back to where Nick was seated and gave him a small peck on the lips.
“No wait!” he called out while quickly grabbing her back down to bring her face closer to his and gave her another kiss, but longer and more passionate. “Don’t turn the cell phone off!” he reminded her once more
“Uh-huh,” she said, out of words. Every time Nick kissed her a certain way, it was as if she was being put inside a trance and that was the case that time around.
