Chapter 7

~*CHAPTER SEVEN*~ A few days later, Nick and I sat in my room amidst cardboard boxes, most of which were empty, and mounds of books, clothes, magazines, and other assorted possessions of mine. I was sorting through a pile of random papers when Nick came up and wrapped his arms around me from behind. "What do you say we take a break?" he grinned. "Sounds great," I agreed, sitting up on my bed and patting the spot next to me, where Nick sat. "So, not much time left, huh?" he avoided my eyes. "No," I had about a week and a half before the move, hence the boxes and disarray of my room. "I'm gonna miss you soo much," I whispered. Nick moved closer and I reached up, stroking his cheek with the back of one hand, and lightly running the fingers of the other hand through his hair. He took the hand on his cheek in his own and gently kisses the back of it. Then, intertwining my fingers in his, he leaned in and our lips met. As the kiss deepend I placed my hands on his shoulders. Neither or us noticed when the door cracked open and Nichole wandered in. "Hey, Maddie, do you have any- WHOA!" she stopped suddenly at the sight of Nick and me, "Dude, I did NOT need to see that!" "What?" Lexi, my little sister appeared in the doorway, "Eew, gross!" she crinkled up her nose in the typical five-year-old response to kissing, however it was much worse when it was live rather than on the TV. Nick and I jumped away from each other as quick as we could, springing to opposite sides of the bed. We were avoiding each other's eyes, and neither of us so much as glanced in Nichole's direction. I could feel my face getting redder by the minute, and no one spoke. Finally Nick broke the silence "Um..I better go home now, I forgot I have to go home for dinner," he lied. "Yeah, see ya," I mumbled. "Aren't you eating here tonight?" Nichold asked his as he walked past her on his way out of the room. Nick shot her a death glare before finally exiting. As soon as he was gon, Nichole started laughing. "What was that?" she gasped. "Nothing..." I replied. "Didn't look like nothing!" Nichold smirked, "Was it as good as you thought it'd be?" I could feel my cheeks getting hotter. She didn't know what had happened after Gabbie's party. She thought this was the first time it had hapened. In fact, no one knew about us. As far as they knew, it was Nick and Maddie, best friends. Not Nick and Maddie, the couple. "Um..It's happened before.." I mumbled. "What? When?" she had no idea, it came as a complete surprise to her. "After Gabbie's party, after we dropped you off. We went to the park to talk and..yeah..." my voice trailed off. "So you're like together now?" she asked. "Yeah, I guess," I answered shyly. Nichole laughed again, "Oh, I so called that!" ----------------------------------------------------------
